ok it has been a while since i posted my last reviews bout senheiiser cables here
but i think it will be the last one unless some1 (ahem) come out with a new senheiiser cable in nearby future.... today i will write my reviews about PcWork's Symphony cable which i tested in Jaben with Denon CDP paired with North Star 192 MK1(musical favor dac) and paired with Rudistor Rpx-33 Dual Mono Looks - Mite not be the best eye candy on the market compare to some of best Headfi's exaggerated looks and exotic looking expensive but i can give a green go for it's solid built and good workmanship done by our wizard here.... - 7/10 Workmanship - Yes!, possible every detail and nuance has been pay to carefully done for cable itself and rest assured that he ahem ( extremely prideful) in making and creating the cable... where u can get a cable who has 2 different colors left and right and transparent at the same time??( maybe if he can add supernylon or just put some shinning crystal/bling stuff then it will be perfect )lol - 8/10 Sound quality - ahem before i jump into reviews itself, pls check back my previous post i did some reviews of senheiiser cables from usd 200 to 400 and most of them r Headfi's famous cables which i love and loathed some of them...well maybe preference play a role here but most of my setup r based on neutral setup so that i can tune it to my perfection and doesnt color too much and overdid the mids tonality High- now to famous treble which the senheiiser hd650 doesnt have due it's laidback signature, after listening for 2 tracks with Rodrigo Y Gabriel, it has very smooth highs which doesnt overpierce and doesnt give simmering effect to user itself... the spacing is done correctly when the tamacun and guitars kick in without sounding artificial fake or overdone ....if i have a complain then only it doesnt give as wide as K1000 or Hd800 or as airry as i would prefer it but it's is currently limited by headphone's driver and restriction ..overall a very nicely done upper frequency without giving sibliance - 8.5/10 Mids - most of the senheiiser headphones r famous for their mids and i can attest even the die hard fans who loved vocals and orchestrals will melt away by it's house signature... it is true since most of my friends from Dynamics moved to Electrostatics which is unparalleled in mids and liquid, smooth and wide soundstage but that is other story...the symphony cable made the mids very very smooth (notice the word smooth not lush) lush is meaning overdone in mids tonality and clouding the rest of frequency, imagine when u put too much cream on the coffee or tea, what it will become? it will be cloudly or overly thick and no more coffee taste or tea taste (excuse me, but i think that is easier way to explain if u guys r coffee fans or tea tarik fan rite?) this i think it is major improvement on the senheisser itself Bass - well without bass it will be damm boring and not enough umph as i would call it... here i would like to explain there r 2 type of bass - the midbass and sub bass.... the midbass r most ppl will be drawn into it ( when u turn certain volume up for yur headphones, then the midbass will come out and surrounding u with it) that is midbass which registered the mids and lower mids and that wat we call it dynamic bass (electrostatics have slight less dynamic bass but make it up for their superb bass and refined layering) sub bass is the decays, layering and impact that goes all the way down without any colorations (when coloration happens, the sub bass is clouded and u could hear the bass rolled off, best way to test use a cd track with fast visceral drums beat and listen to double beat itself or piano's depth itself....if the sub bass is clean u will notice and hear the pianos passages and how hard or softly the pianist play) this maybe a tough choice for me but the bass is definitely there but it lacks impact and maybe a bit slow for my taste..dun mind me but i started out as basshead to high fidelity and extremely fussy when it comes to bass.....not to rain on the parade but judging if it has a bit of speed or bass impact then it will be ideal enough to handle even the extremely complicated bass passage like technos, fast music and so forth... but it is not fair to compare, since i using my previous experience from truly balanced setup to drive my stubborn hd650 and it has more speed, body, prat and very effortlessly giving me goosebumps when i played Gabriel tracks or listening to Koji Tamaki sorrow's voice but judging from it's price and performance and maker's signature, it is a no brainer and it is very very good for it's price ratio vs performance and to be fair, if pcwork (ahem damm u celaka it is worth every penny and it is bout 80% performance of some balanced setup i heard - highly recommended 7/10 that is for Symphony cable and overall i can heartily recommend to ppl who doesnt believe in cable wise and have a go at Jaben itself come and audit for itself and c whether it's playing tricks on yur own ears and eyes when it is driven by puny Govibe amp itself overall - 8.5/10 ( well worth for it performance's and price range )highly recommendable This post has been edited by sep90: Jul 22 2010, 10:37 AM Attached thumbnail(s) |

Wow, Sep90...80% of a balanced set-up? I'm really tempted to give it a go. Just got myself a HD650 and am being seduced by its sonics with my neutral set-up.
Hehehe...yea...the HD800 is great for listening on the main rig and is like a combination of both HD600 and HD650 at and its very real in its timbre but I find the treble somewhat "weak". On the other hand, the HD650 is quite, quite nice with the othe FUN. Now tempting to have a try with the Symphonica... but budget...the other day bought the HD650 out of impulse without thinking.... Hmmm...Sieveking or Symphonica or Digital Interface.... |
