Do give both the 800 & 800s once it arrives in Malaysia but I highly doubt the price isn't anything to brag about locally as it's price controlled by Sennheiser Malaysia.

Any idea how much the new HD-800S will cost?

Probably something equivalent or higher than actual MSRP of $1699 but of course if you know who to buy them you can always get them cheaper outside of Malaysia blush.gif

Edit: something to tease you guys, this was included together in the package which shows the pdf version of the frequency response of each individual HD800s

I rather Sennheiser give the balanced cable as free or c/w with aluminum casing like Beyer T1 1st gen

Or free HDVD800 also can laugh.gif

For another RM 10k extra, of course they can throw the HDVD800 for "free". rolleyes.gif

Anyway, the HD-800S does come with balanced 4 pin XLR cable.

HD800 is not everyone's cup of tea to begin with. Endgame soundstage and imaging but too analytical for me. Better test the HD800 at Jaben/Starspicker first before splurging on he HD800S.

Yeah, keep hearing that the HD800 paired with the wrong amp / dac, it can become unbearable. Needs to be paired with warmish amps. But not sure with the HD800S though. Supposedly better?

Does the HD800S solve the treble peaks on the HD800?

Supposedly, but the Headfi thread is filled with speculation and people fake-comparing it to the HD800, rather than actual impressions. I'd wait.

Would say its more amp friendly but still benefits alot from better amps, especially ones with high Z output impedance.

Head-Fi is more of a joke these days with people giving impressions/review without properly addressing what they are listening. Not to mention "certain" reviewers are just bad, especially those posting in the 800s thread who bought it.

That's why I keep tabs on reputable reviewers. A lot of hyperbolers give rave reviews for justifying their purchase.

Only got the 800s now, gave my brief impressions some post back comparing a modded HD800 and 800s.

About 1 week of use, my preference is still towards a modded HD800
