QUOTE(Lego Warfare @ Apr 21 2014, 03:32 PM) Sennheiser at Bangsar shopping complex. Thanks. Will go and have a look. What's the pricing there? The lows and mids are nice, but not a fan of the highs at the higher frequency part. QUOTE(Lego Warfare @ Apr 21 2014, 04:05 PM) Lol I think you are right on the seal. Initially the ie800 sounded the same as how you described until I got a proper seal (had to stuff it in a weird angle). I guess that's why they come with five different-size ear adaptors. Cannot expect the test unit to use the bigger adaptor. They must be universally small enough able to fit everybody's ears.I didn't really like the fitting... It is small enough to fit in everyone's ears, however since the housing is short the cable prevents from going in properly. QUOTE(joshuachew @ Apr 21 2014, 03:57 PM) LOL... Can't be. Cause when I was in BSC I brought my V6 with me to test it out. the bass and the mids were so thin. BUt the IE800 ran rounds round the V6 in terms of clarity. And the V6 is already an IEM that does well in terms of clarity. But thats my experience, maybe I didn't get a good seal. ): I read a lot of people prefer the IE800 to the SE846 when comparing them both. Have you done same comparisons before you got your SE846?. |

QUOTE(empire23 @ May 9 2015, 10:46 AM) I guess I'll play along and pretend to be a sifu... What DAC are you planning on pairing the amp?QUOTE(Sentinel92 @ May 9 2015, 11:13 AM) The sky is the limit.Chord Hugo is also very nice with the HD-800. As does the Cavalli Liquid Gold. QUOTE(Problem @ May 9 2015, 11:41 AM) Tube amp: No recommendation for the DNA Stratus? Woo Audio WA2,22 or 7 Schiit Vali Solid state: Violectric V200, V281 if your budget can stretch further Matrix M stage (tolerable but not ideal) Those you recommended are very modest. |

QUOTE(ezekiel_77 @ Sep 23 2015, 04:39 PM) Hi, I'm new to headphones. Recently auditioned the HD800 which had a soundstage that made me feel like I was in space! Amazing width, depth, height and separation. However, either because it was picky with the source (I used my AK100ii) or lacks an amp (I can't be sure), the sound is over analytical with not much bass amount. Not very musical. I'm no expert lah but I guess you hear so many varied opinions because the headphone is very dependent on the type of amp that's driving? So I don't think there's no right or wrong with the HD700. It's just how it's paired. Synergy is important.I'm looking at the HD700. Some reviews say it's like a mini-HD800 with more bass, some say the sound sig is in-between the 650 and 800, but reviews are very polarised. Some really HATE this thing lol. Unfortunately I don't have a reference point, never heard the 650 or 600 before. My only headphones are the HiFiMan HE400i. Would someone kindly advice me as to the sound characteristics of the HD700, and moreover, is it an all-rounder with slight warmth, or still tilting to the analytical side? I listen to all kinds of music. |

QUOTE(Problem @ Jan 7 2016, 08:53 PM) Probably something equivalent or higher than actual MSRP of $1699 but of course if you know who to buy them you can always get them cheaper outside of Malaysia What about warranty?Tax? QUOTE(Problem @ Jan 7 2016, 08:53 PM) Edit: something to tease you guys, this was included together in the package which shows the pdf version of the frequency response of each individual HD800s Size of thumbdrive? ![]() |

QUOTE(ezekiel_77 @ Jan 10 2016, 12:25 PM) HD800 is not everyone's cup of tea to begin with. Endgame soundstage and imaging but too analytical for me. Better test the HD800 at Jaben/Starspicker first before splurging on he HD800S. Yeah, keep hearing that the HD800 paired with the wrong amp / dac, it can become unbearable. Needs to be paired with warmish amps. But not sure with the HD800S though. Supposedly better?QUOTE(E1 - AKG @ Jan 10 2016, 12:33 PM) When is it due to arrive? QUOTE(E1 - AKG @ Jan 10 2016, 12:33 PM) Does the HD800S solve the treble peaks on the HD800? |

QUOTE(Problem @ Jan 16 2016, 07:31 PM) Yeah. Trying to find time to listen to it. Been busy the whole weekend. Wish it was longer. Value wise I think it's superb. Maybe because it arrived as a late Christmas present for me. But speaking about the real monetary value, it is a good buy considering other TOTL headphones like the LCD-4 and HE-1000 cost an arm and a leg. My first encounter with the original HD800 was a long time ago and somehow remember distinctly that I did not like it for the thin sounding headphone. Maybe it's the amp/DAC pairing but I'm somehow liking the HD800S. I find that when there's bass called upon in the EDM / trance music (Andrew Rayel, AVB) that I listen, it does give out quite a good amount. A bit less than than LCD counterparts but other things more than makes up for it. First impression when I put it on is notice how comfortable the HD800S is. I could wear this the whole day without fatigue. The LCDs are heavy but can get uncomfortable not because of the weight but the ears get a little hot. Probably because of the leather cups. Secondly, the ther thing I notice is the clarity, accuracy and transparency of how the HD800S renders my flacs. The mids are superb. Instrument separation is quite good. Very airy and gives a nice stereo imaging. Trebble is nice without being harsh and unbearing. I love how it renders female vocals. Adele and Sarah Brightman sounded really nice. Trance tracks with female vocals (Emma Hewitt) sound really good. They sound very clean and precise. Guitars rifts sound great on Dire Straits. Anyway, like I said I wished it was a longer weekend for me listening to the new toy. Listening to my collection all over again. |
