Unfortunately, you are judged based on your past credentials? Same when you go for an interview, no? You certainly can't judge a person based on future occurences. It's perfectly understandable that there are fans who are at least a little concerned over his appointment given his lack of achievement. If you've been reading my posts, you'll note that I like to look at facts. I don't subscribe to the "lets hope for the best" school of thought. Based on Roy's credentials, there isn't a thing to suggest that our predicament will improve. If anything, it may stay the way it is which isn't necessarily a bad thing considering we're on a slippery slope now. His 3 year contract suggests he isn't a long term replacement but rather, a person who can steady the ship. He hasn't had huge budgets to work with and certainly appears to be someone who can trim the fat by bringing in players who can keep us where we are, but don't demand exorbatant wages. Until our financial situation is sorted out, this is the best we can hope for.

Yup along with not throwing beach balls brows.gif . we (i bet) have learned our lesson.

i digress blush.gif

The things is, i have a gut feeling RH will go simple. (i've work with some englishmen, they tend to go simplistic in running things) , we all know germans are renowned strict disciplinarians>work ethics, english I find them almost opposites.

We all know our ex manager goes ultra double, trible tactical & sometimes it bore the hell out of our fans. I guess if we retain the core squad we'll go very english in our style. kick, hammer the opposition goal, which may result in high goals sometimes either way... patient continential style, i doubt RH will employ it much unless he surprise all by having RH's LFc approach first defensively to cut out leaky defence. (high balls in???)

we'll see. too soon to speculate. he's here. Will hope he can change some seniors minds of leaving. we'll see

Hmmm I don't know about that. There have always been promising youth players looking to break through. They existed before Pacheco, Nemeth and co. Paul Anderson, Richie Patridge, San Jose, Antwi, etc.

good point. but then again i would have loved to see the fruits of rafas youth setup.

i like hogson play as i'm fulham fan itself ...cum liverpool fan , i always imagine what will happen when fulham tactics used in liverpool...it will be god like...ie. zamora and dempsey...

hogson plays tall players...i guess mascherano lucas will be the first to go , i am glad to see finally a manager knows how to manage tall players and strong bulky like zamora and aston villa , totenham have been ultilise for their good.

If he is that static that he can only play with tall players, and have to ship off short player like Mascherano then ,he is clearly not the right man to bring us forward. What we NEED is a manager that can utilize the squad and bring out the best from the squad instead of reforming a new squad of his own.

QUOTE(joekruger @ Jul 2 2010, 10:48 AM)
Here are some facts

Only 9 away wins in his last 3 full seasons in the Premier League.

Only 39 goals scored in both his two last full seasons in the Premier League.

Never got more than 59 points in a full season ever with any club in any league across Europe during his career.

Only managed 1.28 average points in the with Blackburn and 1.27 average points with Fulham in the Premier League, which is less than most mediocre English managers get with half decent clubs.

Not won a single trophy the last 10 years.

His biggest achievment the last decade is to reach a final in the UEFA Cup with Fulham, the same achievment Steve McLaren managed with Boro and O`Neill with Celtic.

63 years old when the seasons starts and is known for boring defensive football, something the fans have been witness of the last 10 years and are crying out for a change.

This is why Internet polls on Liverpool forums show an average of 75% of fans oppose this appointment. To me personally it feels like we've settled for a manager who is non confrontational, who will not give the owners any grief while they continue to destroy our club, and ultimately one whose record is far inferior to Benitez.

As for us being patient and blinkered about Benitez, that's another lazy statement. Most of us were bitterly disappointed with last season's campaign, and felt that Benitez got quite a lot wrong, but we felt he deserved our support and another season to dig us out of the mess he helped make.

But you go ahead and believe what Purslow's feeding you. It's easier than actually taking the time to do some proper research.

with all due respect, i read what you wrote (or copied) above some where before....RAWK? or one of those comments in football forum...

at least have decency to paste the source...

especially the irony of the last sentence...
`It's easier than actually taking the time to do some proper research'....

RH just have to do what RB failed to do... More communications with the players. Then sell off players whose heart can't even stay after the communication. these players however good will ruined the game. And look forward for RH's liverpool against 'some french club in london' in the early season. brows.gif

RH will give some our fans some breath. After we always complain on Rafa tactics. See how RH will preform with current players. My point is, ppl complain Rafa can't win bcoz of his tactics and no fund for new player. So now RH have the same pool of players plus no fund for transfer. See how we can progress.
RH at least got more experience on coaching outside England compare to others. He is the best, of course when we count out Daglish.

I will give him credit for saving a goal from conceded in the second half by headed it off.

i bet most of people who cried "kenny dalglish" out loud have never seen him playing/managing yawn.gif

and why on earth should roy bring the likes of Zamora and Dempsey to anfield.both are great player but liverpool has better player than these two(kuyt?Torres?)

manager like hogdson(or steve bruce, sam allerdyce) usually tackles problem from behind(from the defensive area) and up,so don't expect a 4-3-3 solution, though he wouldn't mind fielding offensive formation here and there

i'm a Manchester United fan,but even i do not want to see one of United's worthy rival(other than Barcelona,Real Madrid and some french club in London) to end up like Leeds and Newcastle.roy hogdson is known for his frugality(similar to David Moyes),if he can get the best of the likes of Fulham, why on earth can't he get the best of liverpool?

i say hogdson is the right man,at the right time for the kop
p/s:Fernando Torres will not leave BPL."The Lad",although a spaniard,is very english in his playing style.i bet he and his brother from another mother(Cesc Fabregas) will stay in their respective clubs.Gerard too

So says Danny Murphy: Roy Hodson deserves to be Liverpool FC's manager.
