Mixed feelings about his appointment. Would have loved to see what King Kenny could have done, with Ian Rush as his right hand man. Hodgson it is however. Wouldn't mind seeing Dempsey and Hangeland in red kits.

I think the word of "spending spree" is not quite a right word to use especially with the transfer kitty of 15 million.

I don't think many managers want to take up the Liverpool offer, with 2 years contract without much transfer kitty available.

Just my view then.

actually it does matter very much if he sucks and doesn't deliver. Liverpool has fallen from their perch and if they don't rise up back up, the owners are likely to liquidate as much as they can ASAP.

kops faithfuls are worried the two owners doing asset selling now and Hodgson was brought in to be a 'yes' man for the G&H. If that is so, in two years time, the owners would have leech Liverpool empty.

If Liverpool doesn'r rise up back and be in CL, the value of Liverpool club will be lesser, and even harder to sell.

Hangeland would be a good buy actually. He might ease the burden on Carragher when Skrtel and Agger out because of injury and loss of form. But i'm not quite agree if Hodgson bring back Murphy to Liverpool since Gerrard playing in the same role as Murphy. Liverpool still have Aquilani though. But i can see Hodgson might bring Zamora to Liverpool. Don't expect him to come cheap but his ability to create chances surely valuable for Liverpool.

i lol-ed at reports saying if he took over, he'll be able to raise the funds from the sale of gerrard, torres, masch if he fails to persuade them to stay to add to his transfer kitty... i really wonder if the owners will really give him that.. c'mon, the manager has gone, the owners have to go to... bringin in roy.. no disrespect, but, i think he's better fit for other types of clubs.. his track record previously may be good.. but look at premier league outfits.. tight budget... i really hope im wrong big time

his experience perhaps. a short term solution before Roy can raise funds to buy another good defensive midfielder.

Let's get behind the new manager.

Roy-hating even before he even got started? This will only bring us down lower to where we were last season.
*
correct,

rafa is gone. thats real. there are lots of us who dont like it but just like relationships under difficult circumstances, they say if you really love someone/something, it time to move on, then you have to.
I think rafa did that. As much as he's done a lot & loved LFc but he knows its pointless to carry on when its only one way from up there. We too should respect rafa that.

Clearly RH is appointed, roy is a short term solution (given his age & offered 2 years).
[It may very well be the people up there is looking at short term results (cup wins??) to bolster LFc image before the sale of the club]

LFc needs to evaluate. First thing first, there are a lot of uncertainties in the whole set up. roy has to address it.

whose going or not. he needs some calm within the squad. LFc needs some respectable showing esp when its a big club we are up against for the first match.

Roy being british, & albeit some achievements with clubs in the continent should be a reasonable figurehead as a manager at LFC.

he is not highly paid in LFc squad. we under rafa coax him to try LFc (lucky) when he wasnt even in any involvement with west ham. he took the opportunity to jump over to LFc with sacrifices (I believe there were reports he had a ticket back to argentina when west ham nightmare was at its height).

so i'm not surprise if his family are some influence that being a integral part of the argentina squad (captain no?) he should be remunerated justly.

maradona is a huge fan of LFc, while he not of english football but he likes LFc because the club & the passion of the fans. Is sure he has some little subtle influences to monster masch.

looks like the media is filtering thru (sorry i'm late on this)

Look on the bright side guys, we are now stable with a Manager, and Jovanovic has confirmed his contract with LFC. A double good news for the team!

We should stop the bashing and let the team's performance decide whether our opinions are justifiable.

Excited with the transfer market now. laugh.gif

Roy, surprise me will ya! on the bright side. tongue.gif

a quick look at the profile and his last trophy won was almost ten years back, and even then it's the danish league. i'm not undermining hodgson, but there's a glaring question mark in my head: is he chosen based on his track record on trophies won, or spending within budget constraint?

the appointment of club manager, if the news is confirmed, seems to be decided by whoever's cheaper paycheck-wise, and how well can he help the club to work within a tight budget. trophies seem to be the last of our concern at the moment.

i continue to support the club regardless, but it is disheartening to see how far we've fallen behind when everyone else are climbing up.

a check on his record, pretty mediocre i would say, except his season for fulham. his appointment might be cheap, but we still need to pay compensation to fulham, about $2million.

let see what hodgson can do, his budget gonna be pretty limited..

With the current state/situation,
no one expect Liverpool to win/challenge the league title.

What we/fans want is Liverpool play like a team, not the like season, poor display for the whole season, players look lost, little determination to start with.

well for all the expectations all these years, i don't think many liverpool fans will worry if we have to wait another few years before bringing in any decent trophies.

my previous post may sound damning to roy hodgson, but truth be told i know he is not to be blamed. two (or was it three) years contract with 2mil compensation is a cheap and quick alternative for the time being to make things running for a while. it is there for everyone to see, you don't need to be a liverpool fan to know the troubles brewing within. while other clubs in debt are spending like mad, we're cutting cost from every single front in the club, and the manager position is the first casualty.

since he is in, i'll throw the basic `love the club accept whoever is in charge' support around him.
If he can persuade stars to stay, stay on top 4 after 10 matches, i think i will take it at this point.

but still....., Roy Hodgson for Liverpool, because we dont have any other choice? how we have fallen...

but maybe this is Liverpool...when expectations are high, we normally do badly....when chips are down....we deliver pleasant surprises....

just one thing Roy....do not become a pawn for the Yank's greed...

on a side note....Roy is easily the Liverpool manager with `most number of previous club managed'?

as fans of Liverpool FC, i never liked they way the club treated rafa, it's not the liverpool way.

while to some of us roy's credentials may not be up to mark courtesy to the situation the duo has the club in, roy gets my support, for the love of the club. He needs our support to instill stability & get the club in good steed so that the owners can sell us to someone who would have the interest of the future of the club & not lie to the fans; basically ship out G&H.
