quite confusing...
HTT vs Hypertransport???
from what i know...
DDR HTT = LDT*FSB*2(DDR)
e.g. LDT=3, FSB=250
= 3*250*2 = 1500 DDR HTT...

btw...does that gogar's way really works???

nailed the culprit...i think i got a bad stick...tried one stick at a time...1st one can do 220@2226 with 3.20vdimm...ran for 10hrs...no error...the second one...at 200@2226 with 3.20vdimm...70K of errors without finishing a single round...i did full test...so, set the timing down to the spd...200@2.5338 with vdimm 3.20v...same results...tons of errors...i tested it on yellow dimm...so changed to orange...same result...using 510-2 bios which is optimized for bh5/utt type of rams
and also...that bad stick couldnt load windows at spd...always got that SOB BSOD screen...now using windows using the good stick...aiya...hate to do the RMA thingy...

The xp120 doesnt cool your ram as good as putting a 80mm fan onto the fan directly....

i put a 80mm smartfan2 @ 4000rpm to cool down the ram. smile.gif

I'm lucky to get good sticks.
*
of course it's not...
but i've yet to do that...still thinking the best way of putting the fan above the ram...other than using spiderman to hang it over...

QUOTE(PCcrazy @ May 24 2005, 04:13 AM)
I know that a lot of people here and about have been complaining about later A64s being crap overclockers or running hot. If you are such a person, you may want to check the heatshield of the processor with a straight-edge. I had a 05 A64 come into my hands and found that it wasn't the greated thing since sliced bread. When re-mounting the block I noticed that the Thermal paste hadn't spread completley on the centre of the IHS. When I cleaned it and held it upto the light with a straight edge I could see light between the edge and the IHS, the IHS was concave in the centre!
So I got out my micromesh and after a good few hours of rubbing the IHS on a piece of glass I got down to a flat surface.

It made a massive difference, the temps fell around 5 degrees and the overclockability went up by a good couple hundred Mhz.

So if you have problems, I suggest you give this a try. I'd post pics, but I've ran out of AS5 so I cannot remove the heatsink right now.

http://www.xtremeresources.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36728

Guys maybe you want to check whether your IHS got the same problem.
