2005 Ripe - By Tacha - 250g

This is custom made by Tacha. 2nd time they did it. This is their highest grade ripe. They claimed it has 'nai xiang', and if i interpret it correctly it is coconut/milk flavor.

I tried it. It is quite nice compared to my usual big factory ripe. Smells good too.

Added on January 20, 2011, 9:33 pmThe owners of Tacha just came back from Yixing China and brought back some artist teapots. I was there and managed to see a few which are priced at RM4k, RM6k, RM7k, RM50k. They have few others which hasn't arrived yet.

One guy bought the RM4k and RM6k pot... and is considering the RM50k pot. Wow...

Anyway, Tacha has made order for their own custom made tacha brand teapots. It should come in 2 months time... looking fwd...

Chinese greens and Japanese greens = I go Hojo. They have plenty of choices... expensive but nice.

For a casual chinese green tea, you can try their Yun Feng: http://hojotea.com/item_e/g08e.htm

For a casual japanese green tea, you can try their Karigane: http://hojotea.com/item_e/g16e.htm

For their premium... they have few. You can request to try some of those premium. But super premium, sometimes they may not allow to try cause too expensive.

bro you seems know tacha for longs. need some advice from you if you dont mind to share.

i just get to know them 2 weeks ago and my friend bought a cheap teapot (below rm200) there.

we reach there quite late so did not manage to sit long time there. the spectacle guy (i guess is the booss) let us try few raw pu er.

To be frank, i'm still a newbie for chinese tea. right now they are doing promotion for rm999 (1tong raw tea + free a teapot). is this ok to buy?

I don't know them for long, but I think they sell nice tea/teawares/environment, friendly people, knowledgeable and most important they are willing to share their knowledge. I learned a lot from them.

I have tasted that raw tea you mentioned. The taste was quite good but not of their highest grade. Quite worth a deal according to few of their customers who have been following them for years cause they say the teapot is quite good. I saw few of them buying when I was hanging out there. Yesterday, they have another promotion, 5 piece ripe tea + free a teapot.

If you intend to collect/stock up tea and enjoy over the years, then you can opt to buy 1 tong... but if you intend to drink many different types of tea, then no need to buy 1 toong but rather few pieces or even 1 piece. Of course it all comes to your financial la, if 1 toong price is nothing to you, then well go ahead smile.gif

They have many other teas, you can also opt to try more before deciding to buy. They don't rush you to buy... so don't worry.

haha..nice reply from you. big thanks notworthy.gif

i financially not strong blush.gif , this is the 1st toong i wan to buy. i read some article said, if drink raw pu er, the fermented process can go up to 30-50 years shocking.gif .

if keep the tea properly, every 3month the taste also will chaging. that y i plan to try once.

tacha they are good, sharing alot of knowledge for tea. he told me about things like enzyme , tannic acid... rclxub.gif , and i feel what they taught me very scientific.

due to limited budget, i will not go to high grade tea. moreover, i still newbie, dont wan to spend too much before i know how to differential the good/bad taste first.

i read back your old post and found u bought the Dong Dao Ru Kiln from south city plaza. i just been there today (3hours ago).

what tea u drinking with that? i heard drink pu er should use zhi sa, because the air permeability is good. you use with oolong tea?

i think in the end is not about how expensive of the tea(expensive is for show off), the most important is which tea you like. Even for teapot, as long as it fits and you like to use it should be alright.

They (as in after listening from few people) say Raw puerh can be divided into 3 category of age.
1 to 10 - young
11 to 30 - old
30 and above - vintage

How fast the tea age really depends on the way you store it. If by proper storage in Malaysia, they say big change is every 5 years. There will be some charge in between, but mostly Ups and Downs of the tea. Some say during raining season, it is usually not so nice to drink... Unfortunately, there is no exact pattern of the is Ups and Downs...

If you have limited budget, then I advised you not to buy 1 toong. Save the money and buy 2 or 3 pieces. Drink/Sample it slowly. Then buy other types of tea and Drink/Sample it too. By doing this, you get to learn more and it can take a long time to finish it. 1 piece can even last you many years. Even just Raw Puerh itself, there are many types of taste profile. Don't dump all your money into 1 toong (if you have limited budget).

Dong Dao Ru Kiln ah... didn't use them these days... more of a display item now... that is because I found out clay based teapots are nicer to brew and taste better. Previously us the dong dao mostly for Ripe puerh. Quite good and smooth.

Which type of clay is suitable for puerh and what is the outcome, I did a summary of my experiment at Tacha. We brewed same tea in different pots to test the result:-
http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=ST&f...post&p=37873927

Btw, I'm planning to go Tacha again tomorrow noon. PM me, if you wan to meet up there smile.gif

agreed. drink tea is just a hobby.

for teapot (as a tool), 2 different material teapot really can make same tea different taste. i tested before.

definately, you need certain level of skill first. no point for newbie buy good tool if dunno how to utilize them.

Nicely said. In tea, there is always something nicer, something more expensive, something more high end... there is really no end...

So long you are happy with what you are doing, drink what you like, buy what you can afford... then just enjoy this hobby smile.gif

Tacha is more targeted for season drinker cause their tea is of high premium quality which also means more expensive. For newbie, I would suggest go to Tea-Li cause they got more variety of tea and they are selling wholesale price for the famous brand.

Tea in general got no expiry date. The best tea for natural fermentation is Puer tea. If you got a chance to taste a 50 year old puer tea, then you will know why it is worth storing young puer tea for future consumption.

For teapot, in general, zisha is used for puer and zhuni is for oolong tea. However, there is no fixed usage. If you got only 1 teapot, then use it for all types of tea. Sometimes, I used porcelain gaiwan to brew as well.
