Tacha is more targeted for season drinker cause their tea is of high premium quality which also means more expensive. For newbie, I would suggest go to Tea-Li cause they got more variety of tea and they are selling wholesale price for the famous brand.

Tea in general got no expiry date. The best tea for natural fermentation is Puer tea. If you got a chance to taste a 50 year old puer tea, then you will know why it is worth storing young puer tea for future consumption.

For teapot, in general, zisha is used for puer and zhuni is for oolong tea. However, there is no fixed usage. If you got only 1 teapot, then use it for all types of tea. Sometimes, I used porcelain gaiwan to brew as well.

I agree Tea-Li's price is quite good. I buy from them often. But they are not too knowledgeable in the tea and teawares compared to Tacha. So both are good tea visit spots and they are just walking distance to each other smile.gif

They (as in after listening from few people) say Raw puerh can be divided into 3 category of age.
1 to 10 - young
11 to 30 - old
30 and above - vintage

How fast the tea age really depends on the way you store it. If by proper storage in Malaysia, they say big change is every 5 years. There will be some charge in between, but mostly Ups and Downs of the tea. Some say during raining season, it is usually not so nice to drink... Unfortunately, there is no exact pattern of the is Ups and Downs...

If you have limited budget, then I advised you not to buy 1 toong. Save the money and buy 2 or 3 pieces. Drink/Sample it slowly. Then buy other types of tea and Drink/Sample it too. By doing this, you get to learn more and it can take a long time to finish it. 1 piece can even last you many years. Even just Raw Puerh itself, there are many types of taste profile. Don't dump all your money into 1 toong (if you have limited budget).

Dong Dao Ru Kiln ah... didn't use them these days... more of a display item now... that is because I found out clay based teapots are nicer to brew and taste better. Previously us the dong dao mostly for Ripe puerh. Quite good and smooth.

Which type of clay is suitable for puerh and what is the outcome, I did a summary of my experiment at Tacha. We brewed same tea in different pots to test the result:-

Btw, I'm planning to go Tacha again tomorrow noon. PM me, if you wan to meet up there smile.gif

Don't worry. There is always something better. Moreover, that piece you mention is good but not great hmm.gif So there are more choices... Anyway, up2u nod.gif

I also buy puerh with the intention to keep for retirement in 20 years time. Then get to drink old tea without spending rclxms.gif

If you see a guy at early 30s, with long hair... then that is probably me whistling.gif

If you from USJ, you can go to Summit groundfloor. There is a tea shop there and the uncle is quite accommodating.

I have heard few shops talk bad about them to me, and Tea-Li knows about it too (not i say). Wat to do... they in a way spoil tea market price for their competitors. Good for us though rclxms.gif

Jian Dea Tea House
50, Tengkat Tong Shin
Bukit Bintang

Most of the sifu there are committe of the tea club in Malaysia.
Small & friendly advise.

Not like others tea house in shopping mall. too commercialise & they mark up too much.

Can just walk in & u will smell the tea that i never experience in other place before.

I don't like bamboo tray as it tend to give the bamboo smell when hot water is in contact.

Currently my tray is wooden tray and zisha tray, both are portable as I don't have permanent place for tea yet...

2007 - Dayi 0772 (701) - 400g x 9 beeng

user posted image

Not a drink now tea...

Added on January 22, 2011, 9:00 pmI learned something new about Dayi's product from a friend today. According to him, from the year 2006 onwards Dayi has sticker behind the back of the beeng to distinguish whether the beeng is genuine or not.

Beside that, it has another meaning. If you see the sticker is Green, it means that it is a repeat product (eg, 7542, 7532, etc etc). But if the sticker is Purple, it means that it is 1 time product (eg, 0772 above) which will not be released again

It is behind Jln Alor. It is located besides a hotel I think called Radius. The boss is known as queen of shui xian cause she got lots of aged shui xian at her stall. Very nice lady cause she will brew anything that you wanted to try and will answer anything that you asked..Of course, you go there drink the aged shui xian tongue.gif

Ya. I also know about it. I heard that some shops says that their tea is the pirated version but I have checked and it is not. So good for us since their wholesale price is one of the cheapest.

USJ uncle got many teas that he sometimes did not display cause he do not want to sell at low prices. If you know him better, he might sell them to you. He got quite a few 4-5 years Dayi that I think still cheap to get now.

according to internet, since 2006, Menghai start using national standard secure sticker. The protection line should be in red color.

mind to share yours? so we can learn how to identify the real product sticker.

nice share nod.gif i also like shui xian alot. have to visit after CNY liao~~

i get to know Tea-Li from internet search. they selling low/mid range tea. btw, i though selling expensive pirated tea only make money? low grade no need to fake gua.

one of my friend told me that what they doing is to speed up the fermented process. they put the tea on the high building which have very good air flow.

from time to time they pour water on the tea. and then selling you at higher prices as old tea. shakehead.gif

looks like USJ uncle selling good staff also.. what is the the cheapest thing in his shop? wakaka..so i go in buy cheap thing and cheat tea to drink. whistling.gif

No problem... I was not at Tacha either, bump into a friend in Tea-Li (Kepong). So hangout there. Next weekend I'm in KL, so yeah we can meet up. Tentative should be Sat. If you want, we can have lunch first before going tea visiting in Jln Kepong.

I am not expert in identifying real or not, but I do take this person's post as a guideline..

Not easy to spot real and fake sticker unless you seen them before. I also kena before buying a 7572 Dayi. Bought one box from Purple Cane and a few tongs from China shop realised it is fake after doing a comparison with the sticker. Even though fake, the tea is as good as Dayi since 7572 is a familar tea to me. Best way to avoid fake is buy from trusted seller and not those from China who opened tea shop here unless you know them well.
