I don't really understand what Damage Roulette does. Wider range of damage? Does that mean the damage for the guns like the Laser Rifle would be, say, 2 to 9 rather than just 4 to 6?

Just started playing yesterday, didn't realise I was missing out on such an interesting game.
A different type of strategy game where u have all the time in the world to plan ur strategy(like a chess game) compared to other strategy game which have to rush and keep up to survive. |

oh, i see.
18th game on Classic Ironman, today. I have been on a losing streak but looks like things starting to look up from here. i'm invading my first alien base in South America and probably risk losing one of my Majors. Just hoping there aren't any Ethereals around because that would suck if it's alive but rock if it's dead (PSI powers, ftw!) This post has been edited by Loto: Jan 12 2013, 11:54 PM |

Darn, 18th game, that's a lot of playtime. Also, anyone can recommend me a good overhaul mod(aside from Warspace since many ppl said it's for baby) for my future playthrough?

Completed Normal, Normal Ironman, Classic Ironman and now currently on Impossible.
Impossible seems to be a big leap but after getting used to it, doesn't seems to be that bad. Just wait for computer to make stupid mistakes and pick it off. Of course I'm only at the beginning (which is often the hardest). Anybody here completed Impossible yet? Better yet with Ironman mode on, that will be some serious achievement. |

No, but you really, really need to make full use of full cover and flank whenever possible in ImpossibleImpossible seems to be a big leap but after getting used to it, doesn't seems to be that bad. Or, quitting mid turn would revert back to your last turn if you're feeling cheaty enough This post has been edited by Loto: Feb 5 2013, 06:50 PM |

QUOTE(Loto @ Feb 5 2013, 06:49 PM) No, but you really, really need to make full use of full cover and flank whenever possible in Impossible Just completed Impossible [non-ironman] and I have to say the most difficult part is the starting. After that, Impossible and Classic seems to narrow down when you had plasma. But they do spawn alot more sectopod. No problem if you have plenty of veterans, gg if all rookies.Or, quitting mid turn would revert back to your last turn if you're feeling cheaty enough Well, in the beginning of the game, full cover will still get you killed quite often if aliens were given enough shots. Best is not to be in their line of sight at all. And when to hunker and overwatch is important. Also, not to step into aliens oversight trap (unless you have assault with lightning reflexes) is important. Impossible on non-ironman is indeed cheap. I have reloaded plenty of times when shit happens. It's really alot easier progressively you lose nothing at all in the beginning and almost indeed impossible to claw back if you lose heavily in the beginning too. |

Nothing like watching your entire squad died in 3 missions |

QUOTE(Sethmaster @ Feb 12 2013, 01:49 PM) Haha, I'm pretty sure I will fail, ALOT in impossible. They are just too IMBA. But well, to update, my first mission on Ironman Impossible got 2 out of 4 of my rookies killed and plenty of aliens left, decided to do a mission restart, an option that you have only on 1st mission and after that went on to complete the mission with 3 of my 4 guys. 1 of the surviving guys (an assault) was wounded (8 days out if not mistaken). That leaves me with 2, a support and a sniper for the next mission. The thing in impossible especially at the start of mission, those rookies panic way too easily. Any shot that hit and do expect half your squad to panic. Next turn if aliens have a shot at them, considered them dead even if he is in full cover. That's how 1 of my rookies died. xD Fortunately, I went on to complete the mission without any further scratch. |

I need some pointers.
What do I need to do to prevent countries from withdrawing? I try to build up satellites, but before I can build a 2nd uplink, some countries already in panic. Do I need to hold up on priority research first or ignore encounters or spend everything on aircraft in 1 region only? |

QUOTE(samftrmd @ Feb 27 2013, 05:17 PM) I need some pointers. At first I also thought of putting all my resources into building satellites. I managed to build a few satellites to cover the countries in panic. As a result of this, I got no more money to make new weapons. What do I need to do to prevent countries from withdrawing? I try to build up satellites, but before I can build a 2nd uplink, some countries already in panic. Do I need to hold up on priority research first or ignore encounters or spend everything on aircraft in 1 region only? So no matter how you play it, 1 or more countries will withdraw anyway. Best is to adjust the resources evenly between building satellites and weapons. |

My only tip on Classic difficulty is to spend your money wisely.
