By right, but somehow, most of the XPE is not throw as good as the older XRE. I think the smaller die make it harder to design the reflector, most of the designed was meant for the XRE die. XRE has a bigger Dome, so its act as an optic to pre-focus the beam, I think. XPE is too small to have this , to match the reflector.

Hey hey~! If I'm not mistaken, the XR-E and XP-E have the same die. The only difference is the package and the lens. The XR-E throws better (probably) because of it's 90º projection instead of XP-E's 120º.(all above is my idea, no scientific prove or what so ever)

Let me tell you what to look for. You need a TIR optic, with a relatively large die LED (XP-G's nice, small dies seems to have more artifacts) with a really really short bezel (TIR almost reaching the front of bezel, if you want the spill to reach your legs). And the spill doesn't just cut off suddenly like the others. It's the TIR lens that makes it that way right? Terrible ouch on the pricing for the Surefire E1L/E2L

Also, not all TIR works the same. Best is if you take the MODUS' TIR and mod it into something. My Decree has much less smoothness and the spill does not reach as far (It still is a monster, haha!) You can try the DeCree see if you like that. =) Contact me if you wanna take a look/try it out. =)
