Manker U12 is nice little hand warmer, especially high in lumens per dollar value. I like that Manker often offer neutral white option besides the cool white.  thumbup.gif  Their machining has improves a lot over the years and being a young company, they are pretty dynamic. I love my E02Ti Nichia, but none of them is a light that I'll take with me when SHTF. Having to say that, same goes for most Olight and those newer Fenix and Surefire.

In terms of S2R Baton II upgrades, the devil is in the details... I gave away my review sample of S2R, but I'm definitely keeping this S2R Baton II due to the finer details.  whistling.gif

given a choice between the olight and manker when shtf, the manker appears more robust. but strictly on appearance, not performance. and again, what i like about the manker is the mode spacing and stamina so obviously, not having access to any other flashlights, between the two, i'll grab my u12. but haven't had them for long enough to be sure.

curious... what are those details exactly? shorter barrel? nicer knurling? new charger? with the intro of v2, there would definitely be a price drop for the v1 and methinks that's bang for your buck. but curious to know what made you decide to stick with v2? i supposed if v1 and v2 were review samples than yeah, i'd probably keep the v2 myself. but if i were to consider having to purchase either, then i'd say i'd settle for v1.

no worries mate, as the saying goes... "the best flashlight is the one you have with you when you need it most". you should go with which-ever that works for you.
as for the details, it's in the electronics and components used (although I still think there are improvements to be made).
for EDC/BOB, and for Olight's model that uses 18650 power source, between S2/S2R and S30RIII, I would recommend the S30RIII. between S30RIII and S2R II, I would recommend S2R II.

ah, ok. yeah, i wouldn't be able to differentiate (or appreciate) its inner workings. kinda focused on their price/performance and hence the preference. and don't get me wrong, i do actually wonder why there are so many similar models since they're very similar performers. i would also choose the S30riii over the s2r. and i can see why u'd choose the s2rii... and i would too if their price were similar. otherwise i would consider whether the tech upgrade is worth the price difference. the sr1rii, for example, had a rm60 premium over the s1r turbo, and hence i considered the turbo good enough. gotto admit i'm not quite an aficionado sweat.gif

and the saying is so true. thus my t01 could very well be my best (realistically, may even need it to search for the u12!) sweat.gif

p.s. off topic but i succumbed to the dark side of 11.11 and got myself 3 more victorinoxs mega_shok.gif

yeah, some pretty irresistible deals on 11.11. had some stuff in my cart that were going for 50% off and the pull was too great not to click on the checkout. no lights in the cart though so yeah, i kinda remained in the dark side in that respect. actually no, i had some stuff on wishlist but there weren't any special discounts so gave them a miss sweat.gif

Today is a sad day
I dropped my new light on the 2nd day of purchase. cry.gif
It still works, just with some deep carvings.

Energizer Vision HD PMMH21
Just a simple 2xAA light that anyone can buy in Ace Hardware for about RM52 +- I can't remember the exact price.
I bought mine from my nearby hardware store CSM and boy it is bright for a 400lm light.
It may not be practical in my use as it has huge body taller than my Solarforce L2M 18650 format.
It may not tailstand due to the rounded tail
Having only IPX4 may not matter to general consumers but it only resists rain and splashes only. No swimming pool fish tank diving with this.

But importantly the UI is fantastic.
Hi>Lo>Strobe electronic side switch UI. Switch modes by clicking within that first 1 sec frame. More than 1 sec any click will shut it down.
Featuring a gimmicky Vision HD Focus is a nice feat especially the triple TIR lens has 2 spot and 1 flood. Hold on the switch while its on will ramp from All 3 LED>Flood only>Spot

I like the flood feature as it provides a nice circular beam with no tint shift. But I don't think anyone will use this hidden feature as it is quite minmal.

For about RM50 it's definitely a bright light I can easily recommend any general user to buy without worrying about 18650 lithium cell dying from over discharging. Plus it is available to buy locally which I find it a huge plus rolleyes.gif

well if we're into 18650 lights these are kinda meh.
but considering it being powerful for 2xaa it's definitely my current car light right now.
My P60 host with 2 cr123 is still working but it drains fast. Not sure why, maybe it is just malaysian heat killing the battery slowly. mega_shok.gif

there's an awkward sense of deja vu when it comes to my modest light collection. i used to have the problem of capturing light... i.e. what lens to bring along with me for my travels. through trial and error, the tamron 17-50 f/2.8 vc became my trusty companion of choice. problem solved. i've now created another headache... which light to bring along with me. either the i3e or t01 is always there with my keys... but i find myself alternating between the classy s1r turbo and rugged u12 as my primary illuminator (from my previous post, it depends on the type of travel... metro or country). so for now, i'm good. but everdying has also made me wonder... would a thrower be more useful in the great outdoors? i mean i see his point especially if you pair your throwers with a set of mo/binoculars. care to share what you guys use your throwers for? hmm.gif

lens...i have no issues...since i only own 40mm and 85mm...
ur next step now is to look for hi-cri lights...so u can use them as constant light source for say product shots...

i stay in high rise...so when im bored i take my thrower and shine down on girls walking the dark road tongue.gif
imo those that need binoculars...would mean u need to see at least 200-300m away...therefore rated throw of at least 1600m or more the better...means really huge throwers...

the hand held throwers for me are good enough...as long as i can light up stuff 100m away already happy.
