QUOTE(mr-2 @ Sep 26 2014, 02:01 PM) Interesting, maybe you can teach me how to mod my lights. I'm still trying to figure out how to open up to look inside. E15 is good, but the twist to change modes is about double the range of motion compared to my LD01.Resistance is futile. PD35 buy buy buy! QUOTE(Everdying) hmm i just have some affordable Fenix...my EDC are LD01 and E15. Is the E15 good? 170 lumens? Interested in getting one myself. also got a TK09 if i want quite a bit more power. I lost my E05! Is just too small. both pros and cons la, E15 brighter, LD01 got dimmer mode...E15 also cheaper, but also uses CR123. i also looked at PD35 before deciding on TK09. since TK is tactical, first mode is high which is what i want...has a tail switch which is easier to operate...plus has a longer throw. also the memory mode of PD35 i find irritating. |

i just bought a nitecore EA11.
this thing is amazing with 14500, throw distance is just as good as my fenix tk09. only reason why im still keeping the tk09 cos its a tactical light. but my zebralight sc52 is in danger of being flipped soon. then again it does have advantages of being smaller and lighter, and very good moonlight mode. EA11 only 1 lumen lowest, but it makes up for it with a red led that is as good as having a moonlight mode. hmm...decisions This post has been edited by Everdying: Aug 29 2015, 03:18 PM |

QUOTE(widget @ Sep 30 2015, 10:19 AM) I have the 1st gen SC600 since it was released back in 2011 or 12. damn that SC5 sounds nice, 500L and it doesnt even need to use 14500.It has served me well all these years, and has never give me any problem whatsoever. If you want the SC600, rumour has it that the version3 will be launched soon, so you might want to hold your horses first. The SC52 is the old model, and the new model, the SC5, has a max output of 500 lumens. The thing with ZL is you are paying a premium for their brand. No doubt it is a true workhorse that seldom goes wrong, but if you're not using it as your daily beater, something cheaper might serves your better. But if your heart is already set on ZL, just go for it but i already got SC52 and a few 14500s, so no point for me changing QUOTE(-kytz- @ Sep 30 2015, 10:46 AM) Thanks. I think I changed my mind, prefer more flood type but a good throw distance is welcomed too. as the above mentioned, the nitecore EA11 is a good choice...i got one of those also.Prefer AA because of convenience and the hopefully there's a good or around RM100 to RM150 as I will rarely use it What do you think about the Fenix E20 or E25? Both is RM 150 else if for fenix, i would choose the LD11. |

these are currently my 'pocket' lights.
the LD01 is on my keychain most of the time, if i need more output then the fenix E15 replaces it. ![]() the SC52 is only used nowadays to add more light to pics cos of its warm output the EA11 meanwhile has amazing throw for just a single AA - well 14500 - comparable to those that use 2xcr123, no thanks to its 900 lumen output...only drawback is its 30min life at that output. ya, thats what i told him...put a diffuser on.
plus no idea what his usage is for also. if want to flood also zebralight just ok only, from 2m distance maybe the beam about 2m wide with mostly hotspot. while my tk09 with diffuser can flood much better. the ea11 also floods just as well as the sc52, but with a tighter hotspot...but of cos thats at nearer normal walking distances. when go to 20-50m out, the sc52 has a very obvious much wider beam... while the ea11 can still light up stuff up to 100m or more away with stated specs of throw up to 190m... the sc52 doesnt reach that far...if not mistaken its max throw only around 90m? at that range its just barely picking up much...let alone light stuff up. anyway, the day nitecore releases an ea11 or similar with warm / neutral led...is when i will sell off my sc52...til then i'll just keep both This post has been edited by Everdying: Oct 1 2015, 03:04 PM |

QUOTE(-kytz- @ Oct 1 2015, 04:10 PM) Ok I'll decide between Nitecore EA11 and Zebralight SC52 nitecore has diffuser to fit ea11.The diffuser can easily buy from eBay or some its and it's cheap right? for zebralight not much room to fit diffuser properly if u actually look at how close the button is to the edge already. |

im using 14500 in both my EA11 and SC52.
but anyway, this is with the eneloop white. so both on max - EA11 @ 160L on left, SC52W @ 280L. wall is 1.5m away. EA11 looks about the same at that distance, as it has a slightly bigger and deeper reflector even tho it loses out on the lumens battle. and just for fun. TK09 @ 450L on left, SC52W @ 500L. here u can already tell the TK09 is going to out-throw the SC52W. This post has been edited by Everdying: Oct 1 2015, 09:22 PM |

last time i bought a pasar malam led was around 7-8yrs ago...one of those fake 'police' branded ones...1xAA and around 10 lumens...but its still working and basically just sits in my car.
another one is those 3xAAA with 5 diff modes with laser/uv/green/etc...that one the white led puts out roughly 50 lumens |

i think i have that lifegear torch in the 2nd pic there.
it sux so bad as a light...cheap plastic lens and the reflector really sux...concentrates what appears to be only around 10 lumens into a tight spot with very little throw...kinda useless for an outdoor night time light. only kinda redeeming factor is the red light flasher / beacon mode so maybe u can use it as a marker or something... so yea, dont waste ur money on it |

QUOTE(Savor_Savvy @ Jun 5 2016, 03:11 PM) I need a suggestion on a flashlight for my in laws. They are living in the woods where the surrounding areas are dark at night and the house to the front gate is around 100 meters at least. The compound is huge with chicken coops everywhere and three big ponds. Maybe a reliable one which can be shone from the house to the surrounding areas with chargeable batteries. Budget between RM100-RM300. i would choose any 4xaa light, can get from rm200-250.TQ then remainder just buy batts + charger. some of those available locally... thrunite tn4a jetbeam sra40 nitecore ea4 fenix e41 |

QUOTE(danniechua @ Jun 9 2016, 03:34 PM) if you want can take alook at cos u sell it rightttt...Thrunite TN12 (this one is below 200 only but run on 18650) or Thrunite TN4A HI this runs on 4xAA < i have last unit hehe (new stock is higher price) you should see the TN4A HI is super kaw for a 4xAA light and cheaper that all the above haha but i think the jetbeam still throws the furthest amongst the 4xaa crowd. thrunite tho got advantage with having proper low mode. |
