Hello leroy87,
doess the watt of the flashlight determines the brightness? :: no. does the max output lumens determines the brightness? :: sort-of... or what other criterias is important? :: for me >> size, battery choice, tint/CCT, beam profile, CRI, driver, LED, throw vs flood, Optics (Collimator vs TIR) vs reflectors (OP vs SMO), material, HA vs Type II vs Coated/Painted, machining, switching machanism, after sales service, warranty/repair turn-around time :: secondary criterias are value, country of origin |

QUOTE(leroy87 @ Aug 10 2010, 04:24 PM) thanks man.. wanted to buy my first flashlight.. but of course im not going for high end ones first, js wana try the hobby.. Ultrafires tend to be hit or miss - you may get one which works fine, or one which doesn't. Personally, I would suggest you check out the iTp A1/A2/A3 series - They are around RM80 and are a good start in the flashlight world. I myself give them to friends because they are cheap enough, simple, and decent. The A1 runs on 1xCR123 battery, the A2 runs on 1xAA and the A3 runs on 1xAAA. You can check out the reviews here: iTp A1 & A2 review and here: iTp A3 reviewany nice reccomendations for < RM100 ones? are ultrafires good? Furthermore, (assuming you're in M'sia and close by) you can always go to a shop like GadgetWorld2u to test them out first before buying them (and while you're there, check out other lights!) All the best! |

Lurker, if you are around KL/PJ, advise to visit our one and only local flashlight retail shop >> GadgetWorld2U. they are located in Subang.
For AAA >> Fenix E01, Fenix LD01, iTP A3 EOS Upgraded, 4Sevens Preon I, EagleTac PN20a, LiteFlux LF2XT For AA >> Fenix LD10, Fenix E10, NiteCore EZAA, NiteCore D10, ZebraLight H501, ZebraLight SC50, 4Sevens Quark AA, 4Sevens Mini AA, etc... those in bold are my personal favorites |

There could be some loose soldering resulted from the impact that causes intermittent contact issue. |
