If Nerite snails died after 2 days, that must be something wrong with ur water condition. Nerite snail need clean water. Or maybe u didn't acclimate the snail before introducing to ur tank.

BTW, I WTA shrimp keeper here, what food did u give to ur beloved shrimp? For me, i give them pallets food from Hikari and sometimes algae wafer or spinach.

Got condition ar... Water very clean that time also cause not much fish and I do water change weekly...

What WTA stands for???

Food for shrimps ar??? There is plenty of algae in my tank now, cause the last oto died 2 months ago, so its 2 months worth of algae in there... I'll worry about the food after the algae is finished.

But I'm worried that the cherry shrimp won't eat the greyish and furry algae growing on my plants now. They are eating up all the brown algae but so far haven't seen them touch the grey furry ones... rclxub.gif sad.gif

Here's the 4" fan I'm using for my 2ft. Really strong. Temperature is about 27C when lights are off and 28C when lights are on. Using the same type of fan for my 3ft tank to achieve the same effect. Surface ripple is really strong.

But note that by using this fan, I don't have much room for lights. I'm only using 55w PL for this shrimp/moss tank. Running an eheim HOB and a 2215 for this tank.

Yep. I top up every night. I'm having the HOB there to keep filter media to absorb copper and also have a bit of crushed corals in it to add some calcium.

There's a filter media from Seachem that will absorb copper. About RM4x. I can't remember the name now though.

Snail shell will dissolve in acidic water. Means anything less than 7 pH. Also, I read that if you use CO2, it will convert to a very weak acid in the water, but will also affect the snail's shell over time.

Yes, crushed coral will increase the pH, but I didn't put a lot, just experiment a bit coz I need some calcium in the water. I saw some shrimps die while molting. After adding them, I didn't have any problems for more than a week.

- my shrimp keep dying..
- Already use the air pump to aerate it.
- result is better that not using it, but the shrimp is still dying..
- i did water top off everyday because of the fan and do 20% water change every 2 days..
- i also didn't user any fert.
- but still the shrimp is dying.
- im using filtered tab water..
- average temp is about 28C to 27C
- it is because of the copper in the tap water that cause this?

20% water change every 2 days is pretty drastic and not good for your shrimp's well-being.

What's your tank size and type of filter? And did you use anti chlorine that also removes chloramine?

- The tank have been set up for about 2 -3 month already.
- before, i didn't do water change, a lot of debris floating inside.
- shrimp still dies.
- the ghost shrimp have no issue living in that tank before..
- only red cherry have that issue issue
- my tank is 1 feeter. filter is eihem 2213.
- i also use the bio ring, activated carbon, resin to absorb access nitrate and nitrite.
- i use ada soil amazonia 2.
- im not sure about the ph or water condition because i don't have the test kit.
- but i suspect that maybe copper or chloramine might be the culprit..
- i lost maybe 3 batch of cherries already .
- current setup look promising but i still losing them every day..
- P/s: the tank seems healthy because there a a lot of small aquatic microorganism swimming around..

thank you all for the advice.

- no.. i dont inject CO2..
- i did that before but it cause the shrimp to suffocate.
- now i use air stone with air pump..
- i think it is because of the water..
- KL water is not that good..
- every morning, the water will smell like rust and the color sometime becomes brown also..
- i use filtered water for my tank..
- but not sure if there is anything inside the bio aura water filter that is not suitable for shrimp..

Added on June 4, 2010, 4:50 pmcan i buy some too later.. smile.gif but gonna make the tank suitable first..
