I'd personally bite the bullet and get a good filter. The last thing you need to worry about is your canister leaking and flooding the living room.

Hey there.
Yes, cheapest might or might not work for you. For me, a canister is a long term investment and will be running 24/7. I use Eheim for my canisters and drive a proton |

Sharing my new scape for my 3ft tank. Hoping to do better with my stem plants.
Photo taken 2 weeks ago, I think. Will take a new one later today to show progresss. ![]() When setting up, before adding the sand, I kinda like this look. Feels like it's by the side of the lake, with the water reflections and all. ![]() Previous scapes for this tank in the past: ![]() <--my first scape!![]() This post has been edited by SweetPuff: May 10 2010, 05:07 PM |

Just added 2 Marimo balls into my shrimp tank. Here's a cherry shrimp instantly jumping right on it.

QUOTE(crewmy @ May 17 2010, 10:03 AM) I remember ppl mentioning about this 'priming', and some suck using mouth. So i did that and managed to get the water to flow out to a basin...but power still not on yet. When I switch on the power, the flow became greater, which is good. |

88 sunwaymas got pingpong balls wrapped with moss. Not marimo balls
Added on May 18, 2010, 4:39 pmThis guy potong some marimo balls to create his aquascape. Quite cool, but a bit sakit hati to see the cute balls being cut in this manner http://www.aquascapingworld.com/forum/aqua...sai-garden.html And I just read a really funny post called: My purpose in life is to grow Marimo Balls. That fella just wanna propagate them and grow them big and round. Hahahaha. I think I'm addicted too. This post has been edited by SweetPuff: May 18 2010, 04:49 PM |

The steel rack can be found in most LFS. Just ask them. I know in 88 Sunwaymas and Natural Aquatics and Irene Aquarium should have them.

Better get styrofoam instead of newspaper at the bottom of the tank. Coz newspaper can't repel water. I'd be very careful about the power sockets being so close to the tank as well.
But interesting layout with the driftwood. Should look really good once your lawn starts filling up. |

Seems like your filter is placed at the same level as your tank. Just need to make sure there's no electrical items below it, else IF your filter leaks, it won't affect anything other than your floor.

QUOTE(crewmy @ May 20 2010, 06:49 AM) I think it should be above 1K. Even the Resun Mini-20 is quoted at 800++ at NA. Why dun you called the LFSes up, although I guess Mr Yee of NA may push you to get the Hailea instead. NA sells Hailea as well. I asked for a Hailea unit that's comparative to the Resun Mini-20 and was shown a unit that costs about RM900++. |

@crewmy
If you are going for a planted tank, you should not be using the black filter pad. It's carbon, if I'm not mistaken. So you won't need it unless you are treating some sick fishes. Marimo ball comparison. Big one's from NA and the smaller one from 88. ![]() This post has been edited by SweetPuff: May 24 2010, 11:35 AM |

I'm personally using 2213, 2215 and 2217.
I find that 2215 is just nice for a planted 2ft tank. 2217 is great for 3ft. I have tried 2213 for my 2ft tank, but I feel that it's pretty underpowered for it. This post has been edited by SweetPuff: May 24 2010, 11:39 AM |
