Yes, is all about money. Or ask them use 20mm diameter Rebar biggrin.gif

You need to have solid support the normal sand brick may not hold the weigth.

Not sure, is all about design, and also thickness. You need to ask them for quote. The price of steal is really sky high now.

12mm x 12mm from outside look is very small. My windows grill is 1/2" x 1", facing 1".

If you doing 1/2" x 1" solid. I guess it will be 30+- / psf.

That price is exclude workmanship if i read "kucingfight" post.

Even you have solid, you need proper mount. Useless if just screw mount only. You need something like mounting gate, put the long bar inside the wall.

Why not use thicker steel? say 1.5mm

hi guys, to repaint old grills, just sand and repaint is it? No need to do anything else?

Any good paint to recommend?

Got the very expensive i think is "hammerite" paint. No need to much scrapping, it suppose to take care of the rust too.

For normal paint, is best to brush it out the rust / loose paint using steel brush, apply primer, apply paint.

Hammerite is the brand of the paint?
Must apply primer like ceiling and wall also? Meaning paint anything also must apply primer coat right?

Grill / metal better apply primer easy to paint. Without is ok, just need some experience.

Added on November 23, 2011, 10:02 pmI paint my old house grill. Well, actually not paint is spray. I got Bosch spray pump. Paint won't stick well on steel without primer.

Sorry, very noob question. Is primer for metal same as primer for wall? Primer and sealant are two different thing right?
Is spray better than brush in terms of finishing and cost effective?

Think is difference, i never use sealer much, i always ask for primer only. Primer term is same on wood, metal, and wall, but is not the same material (primer).

It help easy to paint and protect the object/subject too.

Spray is sure nicer but lots of preparation work. Cause the paint particle will fly to many area. Need lots of masking tape. And lots of paint too. If you buy ready can paint, you need LOTS of it. So usually people just use brush to paint.
