My friend uses a cheapo protama uv filter. I can only say, it feels like the cheap Hoya/Kenko lol. Lots of flare generated.

How do you know whether its a good filter or not? can teach me how to compare?

Do you know how does flare look like? Cheap single coated ones will introduce flare to your picture which is why if you're going for those cheap ones, might as well don't use one if you're concen of image quality.

Flare, edge darkening, loss of light yada yada. So basically, the glass does matter smile.gif.

oic noted. so quality of uv filter will determine the "cun-ness" of a photo.
hmmm... i think i will go for hoya hd uv filter.
1 more thing, does CPL filter crucial?
can multiple filter be mounted to a lens? lets say configuration of
lens > lens protector > uv filter > cpl filter ??

The more glass you add to your lens, the more image quality reduction you'll see. Don't use so many lor.

yes, can stack, but not all filters can la. need to get the stackable kind

btw y lens protector > uv filter summore... the uv filter is lens protector already smile.gif also, no point stacking a UV filter since we only use it for protection. if u use CPL, then the CPL will do double duty... polarizing while also protecting the lens...so no need UV filter already smile.gif

filter stacking is for CPL + ND filters etc

Seek for others, if you want 2nd hand with unfilled warranty, usually can get around RM320, with UV filter of course.
Or else get a new 1, Sunway can get RM370 (with my friend's help), u try nego 99.

Don't be reviled by the unfilled warranty card crap. You'll be playing with luck since every product has a serial no which records a timeline. It shouldn't run off too much from the date a dealer gets the product.
