because u dont see canon's lens price drop. the competition is on the dslr body instead of lens right now.

Dreaming of 1 day all those sigma, tamron and canon lens will drop price together... then we all happy

cheapest 18-200 i saw was RM2550...
do u guys think worth going for 18-200 or shud i go 55-200?
or shud i just go for AF-S 50mm?

2. what do u need to shoot?
3. what are the conditions that u need to shoot the subject?

that you need to ask yourself , whether you are ok with changing lense ? when shooting .

18-55 55-200 combo still cover you 18-200mm

don't say like that la.. there's a reason why lens range varies so much. else why'd they put so much R&R into it. 18-200 is like 11x magnification. it's ok if u need such a wide all-rounder but it's just not sharp enough. (sry i complain too much)

ask yourself u nid the extra range or larger aperture 1st

thats the distance scale which shows the distance of focused area away frm the lens
it is useful for precise manual focus
when it shows 'infinity' means the lens is focused at infinity

search for lens infinity focus

AF-S 50mm is different purpose. if u want 50mm, juz get it...no point comparing to 55-200 n 18-200 if budget constraint get 35mm 1.8, less than half the price of 50mm 1.4 AFS and easier to use in small room

so 18-55 + 55-200 combo.. cheaper than 18-200, but need to bring 2 things :S so even 18-55 n 55-200 is lighter than the 18-200... combined 18-55 and 55-200 is heavier n need bigger bag~ the combo supposedly give u better quality pics lah, but for me i wont notice the difference hehehe

since u're thinking of 55-200 and have the money for 18-200... consider the 70-300 VR too

is there a place in Miri to rent (or borrow? ;p) 10/12-24mm AFS?
