Oh yes! The VT50 is a whole lot better than the U. Now the question - how much for the V50? If less than 8k then acceptable. Any guesses how much will it cost?

Do you mean 50" V20? I think likely around RM7K - RM7.5K RRP extrapolating from Australia's retail price list.

Yes. Don't need the 3D set. 7k would be okay. Now if they can sell the 65in for....., smile.gif

I believe the price they are quoting for the 50 V20 is somewhere around RM13K.

65in will take a little longer to come down. From one piece of plasma, they can only cut 2 pcs of 60-65in plasma. So the cost is much higher.

Don't think you can find Krp-500 anymore. Maybe you can still get Pioneer pdp-508xg at 7-8k although it is HD ready only. PQ is superb, Harvey Norman may still have a couple of sets.

Wow. That's a lot of difference compared to the 42V20 that's around RM5K during Homedec. At RM13K, can get 2 x 42V20 + 1 x 32" LCD at least.

I'm not doubting you but can they really sell a 50" non-3D at that price? It must be beating Kuro's performance and serving coffee at the same time. shocking.gif

Sorry I mistook it for the VT20. The VT20 was supposed to be around 13K. I am not sure of the pricing for the 50 in non 3D.

Saw a post in another forum, where they mentioned the TH-P50V20S going for S$2999 @ Harvey-Norman (in Singapore).

Called harvey norman singapore U50 $2699 and V50 $3299

So U50 in Malaysia is RM5299, then V50 would be around RM6499

Hi bros... I was also in the market to upgrade my Toshiba Regza LCD and was looking at 40" - 54" LCDs. As I ventured deeper and deeper into the salespersons' information superhighway, I found out that the plasma TVs of today beats the basic LCDs at similar prices. Initially was almost decided on the Sony Bravia 40" V-series (RRP RM4,199; after discount+rebate was RM3,500); but then when queuing for payment, walked another round and the Panasonic Viera plasma TVs caught my fancy. For one thing, they looked very sleek and modern; and the piano-finish made it look more stylish than many LCDs in the market.

The 42" Viera were affordable enough at RRP RM3,199 before discount; but there were so many models ie 42X28K, 42A28K and 42X20. I was confused as the price differences were just between RM200 per model; until the Outlet Manager cleared the air (hence my sharing as I see many forumers confused with the models too).

42X28K : The most common plasma TV for the Malaysian market, currently under the Lumix promotion between RM2,799 - RM2,999. Entry-level but packs excellent bang-for-buck features. Note the oval pedestal stand that swivels side-to-side by 15 degrees.

42A28K : Very similar to the above model, but supposedly with better sound reproduction. Thicker by 1 mm and lighter by 1 kg. May cost a premium of RM200 compared to the 42X28K. International code external of Malaysia is 42X20 (Asia) or 42C2E (Europe). Note that the pedestal stand is the Euro-series C type that is more premium and stylish, but non-swivellable.

The Viera contrast beats the Samsung 4-series easily, although Samsung and LG have better prices from RM2,199 ono (with free HDMI DVD player). Hope this helps in your hunt for your plasma TVs. Good luck!

If I were you, I'll wait for the 50V20 and see the comparison side by side. It's quite a sizable expense and you want to be sure you got what you want.

From what I saw at Homedec, the V is much brighter and eye-popping. PQ is very good and it has 1080 lines moving picture reso. They had this demo to show motion and on the V20, there is less blur whereas the worse was the LED LCD D series which was beside the V20. The 50U was somewhere in the middle in terms of motion resolution..

In all fairness, the 50U was OK but too bad they placed the V20 beside it.

But then, that's me ... I'm in no hurry.
