I take supplements and I decide by its content. My supplements do not have to be branded but at least I must know where are they made from. For example, I have bought Siisters tumeric capusules which is I know that it is 100% made from the UK. Siisters Turmeric help for my inflammation and diabetes. I strongly think it worth the money, because after i had my capsules, my diabetes is in control and inflammation is getting better. Highly recommended Siisters Turmeric. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

For those who are taking supplements products, how do u decide to start consuming the product?? Is the product actually worth ur money u put in to it?

For those who are not, how do u decide to not take any? Is there anything of ur health u are certain to?

Everyone is welcome to share the idea to me.

Seriously got pharmacist think it is a cure meh?
Yes, prevention. That's key to note. Some people don't understand though and think it is like a cure when you are sick. smile.gif I like my 1000mg vitamin C too. Been reading some material that suggests going up to 2000-4000mg a day could be beneficial but I haven't done enough reading. Will see if I want to consider trying uping my current dosage in the future.

I found that if I took 2000-3000 mg when I have the sniffles, then I am good. But once it is full blown, nothing helps, only panadol to take away the aches and pain.
Daily, I only drink lemon water for vitamin c. I have not caught a cold in the last 3-4 years, except for the time I went on a coach tour when everyone, just everyone caught it, did not bring my supply.
I don’t like pumping my body with refined chemicals regularly, even if is just ascorbic acid.

I have been taking Vitamins and Iron supplements. I took them under the advise of a doctor because i had low-bone density. You should also consult your doctors and see them regularly because Health is a great Blessing of God.

I am taking vitamin and iron pills. I don't know if they count as health supplements. I am not taking this on the advise of doctors nut on my own behalf. I think we all should take them as they are very cheap. We don't get enough vitamins and iron from the diet we are consuming.

So far i don't seem to need any. I just watched my diet to get all my nutrition. But out of curiousity, do doctors recommend or give health supplements often?

Milk Thistle from Blackmores (available in Pharmacy but you may want to compare with Nutrilite on nutritional value)

Alternatively can also try Native Legend Tea (which help cleanse the whole lymphatic nodes and liver) I used this with chlorophyll and recovered from my fatty liver issue within 2 months verified with blood test results; side effect is fat loss.

Personally, i think health supplements are really necessary nowadays.

True, we are supposed to get all our nutrients from diet, but if you live in kl and if you eat out a lot, i can guarantee you, most of us can't even achieve the RDI value.

Also, we are nowadays exposed to more stress, more pollution (noise, air, em waves like microwave, cell phone signals etc). Logically speaking, we should be needing more nutrients, especially antioxidants.

This book here would be a good read for anyone interested:

The Supplement Pyramid: How to Build Your Personalized Nutritional Regimen

The author shows how to build you supplement regimen according to your needs, and the first chapter is basically about why he thinks everyone should be taking health supplements nowadays.

I m currently taking multivitamins and fish oil and occasional vitamin c and probiotics. It costs like about RM100 a month, thats like rm3 a day. (One less passage of the penchala link or kerinchi link toll, or two cups of teh c a day, lol ).

And i recommend doing it the scientific way. Do a body test before you start any supplements - cholesterol, sugar, blood pressure, uric acid etc.. and track them regularly to see if your supplements are really working. Don't just take your supplements blindly, thinking that you are already doing something for your health. Or worse, refuse to take supplements because people say they are a waste of money. Afterall, it is your health, you need to take care of it yourself.

P.s. I own a few health test machines that i use to track my clients' and my health regularly. Blood pressure, cholesterol, hba1c, sugar, lipid analysis, body fat analyzer, vitamin level test kit etc. I am willing to share the machines for free if anyone wants to have their levels tested. Just drop me an email at hello@vitamine.com.my

I sense that every other reply would direct fellow readers to buy specific brand/products. feigned way to promote, without being too obvious, haaaaah. anyway, i am taking one-a-day multiviet only. yes i may get this from my diet, but since my diet are nowhere near the required RDA (as I may be bingeing on salad one day, and on red meat the other), i am taking it. waste of money? maybe, but I don't mind it.

i have issues with sticking patches on my feet, or drinking detoxifying tea to help 'wake up the heart' (funny, coz if my heart is not awake, i should be dead already), or rubbing collagen on my belly to 'help absorb the nutrients straight to the target area' <-- spending on this is what i call total waste of money
