Any remote with a USB IR receiver pair "should" work for most of the XBMC keys...

If it does not work, well, you can customize it ...

I'm using the remote controller + USB IR receiver from my Hauppauge WinTV... works fine on XBMC...

I found a new way to control the XBMC movies and selection... using an iphone/ipad apps via wifi.. think there are lots of these apps , just google for it..

I'm aware of that, but I still prefer something with physical buttons biggrin.gif

I bought from lowyat forum long ago, now I have lost the url link already.

I tried colour button but its not working.  I guess they all need to be configured.  Not all button work the way it is.  But all that can be configured for sure.

Have you thought of using window media center instead?
*
Alright, I guess those extra buttons still needs some configuration.
i still prefer XBMC since it has way better looking interface and skin.

Btw, has anyone tried using XBMC with Logitech Harmony 200 remote?
From what I read, you still need an IR receiver.
Thinking of getting that one hmm.gif

I found these 2 remote and IR receiver kits in Amazon, less than 23 USD including shipping to MY.
HP seems to be a better choice because the receiver is smaller and there are reviews saying it is working and you can use the remote to boot up and shut down your pc.
However I bought the Lenovo kit because at that time it did not allow shipping of the HP kit to MY. Now it does, just a few days later.

Great combo. It will surely be truly fan's free set up. Do take note on casing ventilation for this set up. Sorry I am unable to recommend casing for now..

i personally found the lian li q11 red would be a good home for your "premium" parts.... unless u gona go smaller than it... then not much choice for a good casing...

Guys, I just bought this remote

http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=2056375&hl=

Since it's a non mce remote, I can only configure the action for the keys using keyboard.xml for XMBC
Only problem I have now is that I can't wake the pc after putting it to sleep
I've already turned on S3 sleep mode in BIOS setting,
and I definitely see the IR receiver still getting signals/blinks when operating the remote after the pc is in sleep mode.
Is there any other solution for this?
Or should I just get another remote?

Overall I'm quite satisfy with the Lenovo remote, though sometime the arrow keys are a bit lagging.
The IR receiver is eHome/RC6 compatible. It also came with what appears to be an IR emitter.

I use it with XBMC MCERemote plugin. Once the builtin settings are applied (and reboot) most common keys work.

By default, the power button will put your pc into sleep and also wake the pc from sleep. I have only tried with S3 sleep mode. However, I mapped the power button to alt-f4 so it can shut down XBMC and also windows. I also mapped the Windows key to start XBMC.

WHY dont you guys try PS3 BDremote ? working fine and can configure every key using app.

just 1 minor issue , battery can drain quickly so suggested to use chargeable batt

Alright, I think I'll get the HP MCE remote,
Since it's also listed as supported in the XBMC wiki page.
This one looks like the latest model.

Should be ok rite?
