No subtitle problem playing with VLC player on PC.
Tried adding SRT subtitle file with same name as mkv file but no joy.
Have checked and confirmed that SRT and MKV file have same name.

Any help and advise on how to turn on the embedded subtitle with HDPro will be much apprecaited.

I assume that your AVR does not have any HDMI inputs?

In my case:
HDPro -> HDMI -> HDTV for the video.
HDPro -> Coaxial or Optical -> AVR for stereo, DD and DTS sound reproduction.
HDPro audio settings -> SPDIF RAW/LPCM 2Ch

Edited: Oops. Just checked that your AVR does have HDMI support.

In that case:
HDPro -> HDMI -> AVR (one of available input)
AVR -> HDMI out (another HDMI cable) -> HDTV
HDPro audio settings -> HDMI RAW/HDMI Multi-Ch

Pls note that you need to switch your AVR on to use HDPro, similar to your BD and/or DVD players

anyone here owns both HDPRO/HDPRO+ and WD TV LIVE ? care to do a comparison?

What does HDPRO have that can trump the WDTV LIVE ?

As WD TV LIVE price has gone down to near HDPRO levels, im contemplating on which unit to buy!

Hi Yangxi,

Can you help me decide which one to choose:

1) HD Pro+
2) HD Pro Mini
3) S9

I intend to use external HDD for the movies. All these 3 models can support external HDD without problem / lag?

HDPro HDMI does not support real DTS right? I'm using a projector (no LCD TV..) with HDMI connected to a AVR. So I usually connect my player to AVR using HDMI. If I need to connect separate coaxial from HDPro to AVR for the DTS audio, that means I cannot use AVR for video output to my projector?

What are the things that S9 and Mini are better than HDPro+?

Any other brothers can advise too?

yangxi,

Question regarding firmware upgrade. I've done the May FW upgrade. In the May FW update, it has a "package_MP" folder.

So, for the Jun FW update, I notice there's no package_MP folder. Do I still retain the folder in the USB thumb drive and replace the "install.img" file with the Jun "install.img"?

Do I also need to take out the hard disk before upgrading to Jun FW?

I thought the newest FW is May 13 2010. Where did you get the Jun FW?
