guys, i got a problem here.. just got the hdpro and now trying to figure out how to output sound through my pioneer 5.1 htib. The htib can only take in RCA as input so does that mean i will loose my surround sound? tq for ur feedback

If your receiver support DTS or Dolby Digital decoding, they should have digital audio coax and/or optical input. You can use those to connect to the HDPro.

that is the problem.. the box doesn't have. it's an all in one box. can only take in stereo rca as input.. now no $$$ to invest on a system..

waiting 4 hdpro mini from yangxi to arrive..just bought it this morning

im using onkyo tx-sr607 avr ..and it could not play the sound from the hdpro if i connect it to the avr with the coaxial cable.... but its able to play the sound if i connect the hdpro to avr using the rca cable... i hv 2 input for coaxial in the avr, 1 for dvd/bd players and another 1 is for the astro. .. so far i try to connect the hdpro to the dvd/bd coaxial slot and its not working ..... my hdpro is installed with march firmware and i dont have any problem playing the videos and only having issue to get sound from the coaxial output ...do i need to update the firmware or what i i should do ?

did you goto setup -> audio -> select spdif RAW? try select other setting.

are you using spdif raw digital audio out? if yes, there might be no sound for aac or mp3 audio unless change to analog audio.

else, re-encode your movies with 5.1 AAC audio to 5.1 Dolby Digital.

Do you mean that your htib receiver have separate inputs for Front, Rear and Centre speakers?

Or that your receiver can simulate 5.1 output from only stereo input? If this is the case, then it should be no different to your ears since you are used to it.

Otherwise, upgrade your PC sound by using the htib for your PC and go buy a full-fledge AV receiver + speakers for your HDTV and HDPro

i ddnt try to play with the audio settings ..anyway will try update the firmware and see !

Not sure if due to HDPro problem. Have you assign (setup within Onkyo) the coax input to HDPro (for example an unused input mode like VCR) yet?

Did you also try to troubleshoot if using HDMI input to the tx-sr607?

i never try with the hdmi input, my dvd player and a.byond are connected to avr via the coaxial and the hdmi dicrectly connected to the tv. i just plug out the the coaxial from dvd player and plug in to the HD-Pro, thought it will work without any extra settings !

If the coaxial thing ddnt work than i might need to plug in all my hdmi cables to the hdmi input at the avr !

I think Skylinestar has the answer. I can confirm that the HDPro is unable to decode AAC audio (can't use RAW). You'll need to re-encode your rips to AC-3 audio (ugh! Such a tedious process).

Yangxi, can please check if AAC 6-ch audio can be processed by HDPro properly into Dolby Digital?
