Just finished watching 3D Crash of the Titans. Story is similar to 1981 version except more special effect. A lot boom boom paw but don't know when transfer to blu-ray, what is the effect. In my opinion, 3D is quite similar to Avatar.

maskedchan's favourite. @maskedchan : you watched the movie liao?
low98944, what is your view on seeing it at MBO? Does the 3D effect outstanding? Other say MBO system is crapped, distorted surround and at times, all the effect are reduced to centre speaker onli.
Surround is really not that good. Don't expect Kuching's cinema got any good surround system anyway. Whereas, for 3D, it definitely better than previous 3D (using red and blue glasses) technology but I still feel that their should do it better.
Blu-ray DiscThe Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) today announced two new media specifications that use Blu-ray Disc technology to provide targeted functionality for commercial and consumer applications. The specifications for BDXL™ (High Capacity Recordable and Rewritable discs) and IH-BD (Intra-Hybrid discs) are expected in the next few months.
The BDXL specification, which is targeted primarily at commercial segments such as broadcasting, medical and document imaging enterprises with significant archiving needs, will provide customers with write-once options on 100GB and 128GB capacity discs and rewritable capability on 100GB discs. The discs reach these capacities by incorporating three to four recordable layers. A consumer version of BDXL is also expected, particularly in those regions where BD recorders have achieved broad consumer acceptance.
"Professional industries have expressed a desire to find optical disc solutions that enable them to transition away from magnetic media for their archiving needs," said Victor Matsuda, Blu-ray Disc Association Global Promotions Committee chair. "Leveraging Blu-ray Disc to meet this need provides professional enterprises with a compact, stable and long term solution for archiving large amounts of sensitive data, video and graphic images using a proven and widely accepted optical technology."
The Intra-Hybrid Blu-ray Disc (IH-BD) incorporates a single BD-ROM layer and a single BD-RE layer so as to enable the user to view, but not overwrite, critical published data while providing the flexibility to include relevant personal data on the same physical disc. This allows for consumer specific applications where combining published content with related user data on a convenient, single volume is desirable. Both the ROM and the RE layers on IH-BD discs provide 25GB of capacity.
Because both BDXL and IH-BD are specially designed formats with specific market segments in mind, newly-designed hardware is required to play back or record BDXL or IH-BD media. However, because the new media specifications are extensions of current Blu-ray Disc technology, future BDXL and IH-BD devices can be designed to support existing 25GB and 50GB Blu-ray Discs.

Just finished watching Tomb Raider.
Movie is great..
PQ is grainy , if it wasn't grainy , it would have been a great transfer. AQ is ok w DTS 5.1 , would have been great if Dolby TrueHD 5.1 mastered.
Overall, this is for Jolie's fans..
Agreed with you bro. The grainy part killed off this blu-ray release as the cinematography's quite impressive in this sort of movie. They need a new master for this but I doubt it very much....
BTW, I'm off to Sepang in an hour's time... will catch-up later 2nite

Anyway, happy watching blu to all those planned to do so..
"Open your eyes – and return – to Pandora." This is the slogan that has been used used on the new spot to specifically promote the upcoming Blu-ray release of James Cameron's Avatar, due out on April 22. The spot focuses on the majestically alien imagery of Pandora and its wildlife. It can be viewed at a resolution of up to 1080p, thus providing an appetizer of what the Blu-ray will have to offer.
As previously reported (see blu-ray.com, March 26), the Blu-ray edition of Avatar is getting more preorders than usual, and the advertising campaign is also trying to attract the public towards the "premium experience."
Silly question :
What does the following means , [Playback : Region A (B, C untested)]
Does that mean Avatar is Region A or Region Free?

Just watched it on Sunday in 3D. In terms of 3D, found it pretty decent. Was a treat to see the many dragons fly around the screen, flames and things flying all over. Also it was great getting to 'fly around' in 3D when Hiccup rides Toothless through the clouds. Not sure how much better 3D vs 2D, but it sure was a fun movie! - Recommended!
