Guys I am really new in Blu-ray infect just received my first ever blu-ray movie this morning.. thumbup.gif

I need some info on this...
Can I skip the trailers part on the blu-ray and go direct to the movie menu with a push of a button? Spend hours to figure it out finally gave up. rclxub.gif On my old DVD player I can just press menu and it goes direct to it... but on the blu-ray I can't. Am I missing something? I am using the JVC XV-BP1 player and the Blu-ray was Star Trek.

Thanks smile.gif

Welcome to the "blu" World.

You can skip the trailers, its just promotional. Just press Top Menu [if there's one] or Menu / Pop Up Menu.

It should direct you to the film Main Menu..

your place using HD projector ah? wink.gif
Hows the IQ?

But need a totally dark room to enjoy right?
Hmm... never had this problem before and I've been watching movies for over 3 decades... could it be that the cinema's projector lens need calibration or something?

As I said, some people are just not prone to that. I believe u r one of them. The next time you go to the movies, observe movement carefully, u will realise that it is not buttery smooth. There is some judder. The display is so big, people tend not to notice that but they do notice artefacts and non sharp image more, due to its size. Back at home, the displays are smaller, u don't see the sharpness as an issue so u tend to notice movements more so.

The higher the refresh rates, the more video like the picture can be if not done correct. IMHO, 72Hz/96Hz is just about right, anything above, tends to look unnatural.

Some studios do not allow the use of the "top menu" button to skip the previews. I believe Lionsgate is one of them. Paramount might be the other. On some, u have to use chapter skip as low9844 mentioned.

Tried buying the FIFA WORLD CUP 2006 Blu-ray. I wonder if this is Blu-ray or DVD. The image seems to be like a Blu-ray.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/All-Goals-Germany-...70210919&sr=1-5

This is a Blu-ray sold by 3rd party seller. [Not shipped to MYS tho]

Confusing.. rclxub.gif

If you read the review on the first link, the reviewer mentioned that it is indeed blu-ray and not dvd. And although amazon describes it as "all-region", they have been known to be wrong. Suggest you check if it's really region free b4 purchase.
