I can only hope for the best....should have waited a little longer for more feedbacks sad.gif

Next time gonna order from Amazon.com

All right then..

How to compare this same title...Chronicles of Riddick?
UK version: Directors Cut = Runtime 128min
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Chronicles-Riddick...73218041&sr=8-1

US version: Unrated Directors Cut = Runtime 119min
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001RTCP1..._rd_i=193640011

But when I check Imdb. Original movie is 119min....and Directors Cut is USA 134min

Do not believe the run times in Amazon....

I believe it is a Universal title. I doubt there will be a significant difference. Quick check and it shows that they are the same with exact runtime, codec and bit rates. So don't worry.

This is from this avs site.

Never mind...learn from mistakes...next time I order from Amazon.com easier...
What done is done...hope the movies I ordered are up to the quality standard.

Every time I read the user review in Amazon UK, sure got someone say superb quality transfer...even for the movie "Stealth" which a member pointed out the DVD copy looks better than the BD UK version...not so easy to believe even the reviews.

Just be careful dude.. they are cheap but they are mostly substandard BD press. The expensive ones around 17 pounds are OK. I got 4-5 cheap titles from UK all have sticker "FOR RESALE OR RENTAL" on the cover ... wtf, and the video bitrates are not impressive at all - average 15Mbps only. PQ same or slightly better than DVD. But SQ are no issue. Example of titles with this are - Stealth, The patriots, Tear of the sun, Serenity. Now, I'm ordering back from US - more expensive, but I got REAL BD smile.gif ... (I think my Stealth DVD has better PQ and SQ then the BD sad.gif
*
Stealth that u mentioned has me thinking. If u see the US specs its a MPEG-2 encode with ~ 16.73 Mbps as well, thats pretty low and to add insult it is a MPEG-2.

I hv the US version, now maybe I will get the UK version as comparison to see how bad it can be.

Although, in general I agree that at times, it does look like the UK gets lower encodes, I think 95% of the time it is either the same or negligible differences.

There are exceptions of course.

Those like Angelina Jolie, here is good news for you.

Original Sin - Unrated [Blu-ray] now only EUR 17,99. It is starring by Angelina Jolie, Antonio Banderas, Thomas Jane, Jack Thompson, Gregory Itzin.

user posted image

Most important part is, according to IMDB, Jolie's ( . )( . ) are shown. brows.gif drool.gif and this is 118 mins unrated version instead of 116 mins.

The bad news is, it is only available in Amazon Germany. Amazon US and UK, all don't have. doh.gif Another bad news is, now is not the lowest price in records. tongue.gif

I can see your point. But I think it's still too early to give a verdict on the Sapphire Series. Forrest Gump and Braveheart are nothing short of magnificent. Gladiator's transfer was taken from an old one that was done by Universal, not Paramount. And as you mentioned, a remastered version is on its way, though nothing official yet. And all the Sapphire Series never fails to deliver extensive bonus features on the second disc.

This lip sync issue in Saving Private Ryan is really minor, in my opinion not even worth mentioning. The sound is so engaging, enveloping, detailed, crisped, superbly designed and edited it's just topped my list of the best sound on BD ever, taking over from Avatar which held the crown for less than 2 weeks (capped at 25Hz maybe but the overall experience was out-of-this-world). Seriously, this is the best sound I've ever heard, as peasant my home theater is, no theater I've ever went to ever sounds this good. And we've got a seriously misunderstood cinematography that gives the picture that artsy look to match. I say this is another winner in the Sapphire Series.
*
I totally agree with you there because I do owned the ultra-fabulous Braveheart & Gladiator. Even with Gladiator's flaw, the whole disc still rates high on my list of favourites. Yup, the slip-ups are really minor but the whole package would've been perfect sans those hiccups.... maybe expectations are high because those titles on SS are really top of the line and people want the best perfect version once and for all.

no interested title for you lately?
shaving private ryan not good for you?

Got a lot of titles in my cart for quite sometime now... some even titles from end of last year eg. Terminator Salvation, GI Joe, District 9, 2012 etc etc. Just waiting for the right time, right price to press the green light. Moreover, need funds on other matters at the mo blush.gif

Shaving Ryan's Private is one of my favourite on the list.... but the lip-sync issue does leave a bad taste in the mouth knowing that it would've been a perfecto release to date. But having said that, I might change my mind if this title does fall below USD15.... biggrin.gif

Amazon High-def Week Coming Up, Vote for Blu-ray Deal of the Day

Posted May 7, 2010 08:15 AM by Juan Calonge

Blu-ray MoviesAmazon has proclaimed the week of June 7-11 as "High-def Week." Like the HD week held last year, it will feature various special hardware and software limited offers. And like last year (see blu-ray.com, June 8, 2009), the retailer has summoned its customers to vote for their candidate to Deal of the Day among five diverse Blu-ray box sets and collections.

Possible choices are:

    * The Ultimate Matrix Collection
    * Band of Brothers with The Pacific sampler
    * The BBC Natural History Collection (Planet Earth / Galápagos / Ganges / Wild China)
    * The Universe: Seasons 1-3
    * Star Trek: Original Motion Picture Collection (The Motion Picture / The Wrath of Khan / The Search for Spock / The Voyage Home / The Final Frontier / The Undiscovered Country)

by the way there is a promotion going on - buy 2 discs get US5 discount - there are quite some good titles - I think "Out of Africa" is the best - with Mozart's music and africa in colonel style, the elizabeth series is also very very good.
