Many users who were trying to downgrade iOS 4 to 3.1.3 have been facing a 3194 error. This error occurs when users try to restore the iPhone 3.1.3 firmware while downgrading from iOS4.

If you are using i3gs, then the only method is to downgrade via cydia. Provided you had saved shsh @ 4.0.1 before this.

Hi all,

I'm using iPhone 3GS with firmware 3.1.3 and jailbroken with Spirit.
How can I "upgrade" to iOS 4.0.1 without going straight to 4.0.2 as Apple directed?

I had already "made my life easier" with Cydia before and now it shows the following each time I open Cydia:

This device had SHSHs on file for iPhone OS / iOS: 3.1.3 4.0 4.0.1

Am I correct to download the firmware file: iOS 4.0.1 for iPhone 3GS from this post?

Should I modified my Windows HOST file and add 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com in it to do this upgrade?

Should I enter DFU mode before I proceed with the [Shift]+Click? (I read I should do this if I want to downgrade, but how about upgrade?)

I think that's all the questions I need for this moment, wish someone with experience could help and I would like to thanking you in advanced! smile.gif

By the way, I've heard "iPhoneDelivery" also one of the culprit to cause Facebook 3.2 & 3.2.1 to get such error... sad.gif

You can only upgrade to 4.01 if you had saved shsh via cydia before only. What you can do now is just upgrade directly to 4.0.2.
Put your phone into DFU mode and click restore.
