Then I guess any type of accommodation would do the job. Thanks a lot.

Hrmm... I guess I won't know about the easy version of the course since i'll probably be doing the 'tough' version. If can't compare, then won't feel that it's difficult, I hope. LOL. Just hope fabrication is just as fun as they make it look on TV.

It seems the SA doesn't sound that efficient based on you guy's feelings towards it.

@happy_pink
you mentioned in the thread that you're under it. That's how I know. I mean, you confirmed with JPA that you want them to sponsor you in UNIM already?

Yeah, I was under the Tingkatan Enam one. Just hope they fulfill their promise and continue the sponsorship for me.

I want to write out, my feeling, my thoughts about the on-campus accommodation. It could be long, but worth a BIG read if you will be staying on-campus. Whatever I say, stands valid for Pioneer Century, and not for Perintis Kencana.

Okay, I like it a lot, because it is very convenient. It takes short time to go to classes and raining is not an issue for you at any time of the days because you can go to all places of university shaded.

But, if I like the on-campus accommodation is given by L. Then My hatred towards it will be H=L^2, for L>100 at least.

First, they suck money. They don't think about us. All they think is money. Just look at the rental. A small room in nowhere out of a jungle is charged at KL rate. And the room has sub-standard furniture and poor ventilation system. If you do not have air-con, the room could be an oven, but even it can snow outside, I am sure it won't be a freezer. It's hot, in short.
If you happen to pay late the rental, which is set on 7th of each month, you will be charged 5% more, without a way of negotiation.

They love to give notice that give them money in a more secret way instead of a more easy way of email. During the transition from 2009 to 2010, many people is expected to come back after 7th January. They are aware of it, thus they put up a notice. But it's right outside their office, which is located in one hall. And I will say, even if you stay in that Tioman Hall, chances are you won't go and read it, not to say those staying in Langkawi and Redang. It makes life a lot harder because the only time you will be visiting their office, is when you pay up your rental.

The bed, the chairs they provide, they don't clean it, at least for my time. I don't dare to rotate my bed either top to bottom, front to back, because all the other surfaces couldn't be used. I asked them to clean for me. They gave me a thin sheet to cover. That's when I am checking in. And I still have to pay for the expensive rental at the high price.

Yes, they do provide cleaning service to you. You need to request each time you want your room cleaned and you can only do it once every week. The trick is, you must get your room cleaned on the 1st or 2nd session. If not, you are requesting them to 'dirty' your room. It has been my observation that, they don't make sure their tools are clean to clean. So, the dirt and whatever from the 1st session carries to the 2nd, then to the 3rd, so on and so forth. Do you ever experience a cleaning that is dirtier than before? Try Pioneer Century.

It took them a month to fix my water heater. And the fix they did, is..... to change the switch. The one you 'pik' 'pak' in your home that shows the red light, indicating it's on or off. It has NOTHING to do with the water heater unit, just that, and it took one month. I emailed the boss, he gave me cold answer, and said it's my fault for not following up. And I told him I followed up so tightly because I couldn't bear cold water in the morning and the boss went off somewhere in the jungle, no where to be tracked from email, ignoring me at all. Oh ya, he gave a reason of "we change supplier, so the delay". The boss here is Donald L**. It's not Lee or Lim at the end, make your own guess.

They provide common kitchen for the hall. Yeah, kitchen, but DON'T bother to use it. So does the fridge. Just DON'T BOTHER.

Internet? Like that la, basic surfing, no downloading business. I would tick an OKAY, but no where EXCELLENT. It fits my needs, although some of the flash Facebook games take longer to load, which moves me into non-flash game of fb, well OT, I am sorry! If you want a decent seed internet, then you need to pay. They have 512kbps and 768kbps package for you, up to you to choose. But, for what I know, programme like uTorrent (and other P2P software) are blocked, and PPS don't work!

If you are Malaysian, you will need to find time to suit yourself in the hall. Most of the times, it's filled up by international students because they came a lot further from us. Their way of living, can be different. A sudden noise along the corridor is common, and it's usual to listen some booming of music. Fortunately, the Hall Tutor and Committee in the halls, are very good, that they keep voice at the minimum, and notify you about any latest news and give warning if some of the residents do not follow. A most recent one in my hall is about smoking through charcoal. Notice is being given to all residents via sticking on the door (or slipping through the bottom of the door), before warning is done.
But anyway, if you think you will find hard living with international students, like their scents (which the perfume they put on don't appeal to my nose), their accents, their voices (which is usually very loud), consider again. It's not like the hall can form a community among themselves that live together, and are close, communicating each other. Things like, someone opened the door and shouted "Dota last round", then everybody will start playing is not going to happen. The international students live their ways, different from most of the Malaysians I would say, at least it's me.

Yeah, a bit on the Hall Tutor and Committee thingy. They are good, decent, and put up some activities. But, only the Hall Tutors (who sign contracts with the company/university), will get to stay. Committee are not being guaranteed an accommodation for a next academic year, but instead, being put on the top of waiting list only. Committee will be shuffled every year, good or bad? Well, no idea.

And a little bit about me. I stayed in Redang Hall, and have an awesome Hall Tutor. And I AM a Hall Committee, yet I dislike the accommodation. I believe the things can be quite biased in some ways from the others. But the forumers from this thread knows me, knows about my words, and my number of posts could tell you if my words is trustworthy or not. And I swear, whatever I said on the above, remain true for me, and hopefully not happening to you.

lolz, well...i need to agree with u on most of d part, im studying in nottingham for 5 years now. and everything u say there is quite true. So thats why i never stay on campus, and commute to uni everyday =)

my suggestion for the new foundation students or notts students, just rent a house outside from uni, it is much cheaper, however u need a transportation or a housemate which have one.

Yup, TTS, Taman Tasik Semenyih.
But for newcomers, especially those that couldn't have the opportunity to rent a house in TTS or somewhere (lack of survey, or no friends to share, introduce), stick back to on-campus. It saves you a lot of troubles.
Perhaps staying like for the first year (if you don't mind the blood sucking rate of rental), then move out to stay outside for the following years.

@tanjinjack:You are so right..
Those comments I have once put on our official forum.
Our official forum is so so inactive that you even post things up there, only few people bother to reply or see.
And regarding our email spamming, some people is not so considerate.
But what I don't understand is,even 1 email could lead to banning of account but so many others did that but didn't get ban.
And there is no point that we shall use the official forum to put up things to sell, things to discuss.
Those so-called officers don't appear there, those people in charge are too young..blah blah..

@DJFoo000:Things might not work out that way.
Sometimes you will appreciate the lone room at on campus,at least you won't have to face other housemates.
At least in my case, sometimes it is just too hard to find people to stay together with.
You have your specific requirement, others have their own.
But of course, you all have to tolerate each others.
And newcomers are not really find a cheap room also.
You don't have the facility to know where is to rent a room,i.e. OWA mail.

When I stayed in campus, the kitchen was fine. Fridge is not. STAY AWAY.

I walk to Computer lab for internet anyway. XD

Seriously, off campus > in campus. Unless you wanna experience in campus life, I'll tell you don't bother. Lol.

... and also, it's better to sell your stuffs here than the official forum. It's really dead.

Agree with most of the issues mentioned by tan here on Pioneer. I experienced sth even worse several years ago. all I did was... I made a written complaint regarding their service, and then i was invited to have a face-to-face talk with the management together with my "unit-mates", and the next thing i knew i was accused of bringing my frens to "intimidate" the management. well, not gonna elaborate more on how was this issue solved, but in the end the issue was laid to rest.

On the price of accommodation. Not to say I disagree with the statement that on campus accommodation is expensive. However, I would like to point out that if u stay off campus with a RM 350 room, it could be more expensive if u pay for 12 months rental, as you only pay 8.5 months of rental for an on campus room. But of coz u would get a nice air-conditioned room for that price in off campus. So, try to find an off campus room with 8.5 months contract.

I would actually recommend staying in TTS if youa re staying off campus. But if you have a car and don't mind travelling, you can check out Bandar Sunway Semenyih, before the town there's a traffic light which you can turn left.

My contract ends on June and the owner is looking for ppl to rent it out. I have been staying here for 3 years and I love it very much. If you are interested just to see how everything looks like, let me know. Just PM me.
