LOL. I guess accommodation is something the main management can't really control?
Housing aside, Mech Eng students, how's the teaching going? The 'tour guide' talked about how everyone gets to use the fabrication apparatus instead of sharing it like what is being done in other establishments.
For what I know, the university is taking over the management of the accommodation. There is a new accommodation office in the SA building. And Pioneer and Perintis will sort of serve as an agent that just take cares of the cleaning chores etc. I am not sure where would the students paying the rental to though.
Okay, mechanical Year 2 here.
What do you mean by "what is being done in other establishments"? For what I know, those milling and lathe machines, everyone will get a chance, and will have to do it. There will be a sort of tutorials session that you have to attend to learn to use those machines in the 1st semester. And on your 1st year 2nd semester, and subsequently your 2nd year, you will need to do fabrication, which is part of your project in your course.
And about teaching, well, I have to warn you, in some ways. 09/10 is the new batch of students who undergo the new course structure. It now follows TIGHTLY to the UK system. Is this something good or bad? It depends on you. But for what I see, it is making life a lot harder compared to my batch (08/09). Just to scare you a bit. Each year, we take 120 credits, where in most courses, most years, it's equally divided on a 60/60 basis, or maybe 50/70, 70/50 basis. But, for mechanical Year 1, it's divided into... 20/100. Only 20 credits will be assessed in the 1st sem but a whopping 100 credits on the 2nd sem. Why? Because a lot of the modules have combined together and become a year long module. Can be good, can be bad.
