QUOTE(Topace111 @ May 8 2010, 11:56 AM) I can give view from one of the big4 if you are interested. Thanks for the insight. so which team are u in topace? are you in the super team? how long have you worked there? And there is no OT pay. No time for personal leisure too. My close colleagues share my view too You join big4 not bcos of salary but for the experience. I can assure you we are paid worse than DBKL workers for pay per hour rate. But experience gained is invaluable. I learned things at a very rapid rate, cos when auditing, the finance manager approach me and said I can handle things even her 2 year assistant cannot do. So in the end it depends how much you can take from it. Job very much depends, some will need to wait for a while before given a file to handle all by themselves. Means you do the audit for the whole company instead of just class of accounts. These are the reason given by some that Big4 cannot provide these chances to learn cos very specific. Quite true but its just timing cos sooner or later you will given maybe slightly years. I am blessed with good team, so they just give me and other juniors the chance to handle all by ourselves even when less than half a year. Or forced to cos half my team left by then. People leaving ib Big4 is legendary. And you always need to be constantly ready to take over their work. So you are basicly doing 2 to 3 person workload at the same time. Imagine a whole team just left........ Partner level .......... you can if you are willing to work late every night (sometimes weekend) for 15 to 20 years then possible lo (in Big4 at least). And you must have ICAEW and approval from other partners. For big4 they are not that picky but extra activities comes with bonus compared to those who dont. For MNC, they do prefer all rounded and acca comes slightly less appealing cos too narrow and no clubs participation. But with proper working experience, that short handedness can be eliminated. Just 2 criteria to be successful. You need to be booksmart (IQ) and streetsmart (EQ). Adios peeps, off for my first weekend outing GG. after hearing this kinda scared wanna work at big 4. no OT pay. LOL need 20 years to reach partner @@. and that also not confirm can get o not. well, since i'm taking ACCA now, what else can I work as after i graduate? apart from big 4? oh yea, does it mean that we have to do auditing when we go big 4? what other things can we do within there? LOL i know this is noob question, what if i dun mind working hard like OT and all, but i'd like to have a job where effort = pay is MNC a good start? coz i read in this forum someone said that he'd rather go for MNC coz promotion faster. can't remember his name. there's this rumour i heard from another student. they said that someone started at big 4 with salary of about 2800. then after a year increase to 3800. is this true? will our salary increase that much and will it continue to grow at that rate every year? what about working at singapore big 4? do you have any idea about it? thanks again for your help. enjoy your outing! |

I'm just wondering whether can we take P7 and P2 in the same sitting without finishing the essential papers first?
I'm sitting for P1 this June sitting and would like to take P2 and P7 this Dec without taking P3 first. |

I don't think so.I'm sitting for P1 this June sitting and would like to take P2 and P7 this Dec without taking P3 first. If you, however, are so desperating in taking P7 without taking P3 so, there's still a way. Sign up for P2, P3 and P7 exams. Then skipped P3 and attended the other 2. This means, the P3 is just a stepping stone for you to take P7. Never mind if 80 pound is worth lesser than your desire |

QUOTE(YH90 @ May 11 2010, 01:22 AM) I think it's better for you to check with ACCA rather than asking here..just call up ACCA and ask Clement.maybe he can give you some info..Anyway, I am taking P2,P5 and P6 next month, that is why I say you can take P2 and P7 at the same time although you haven't fully completed P1-P3. I have lots of friends taking the option paper while struggling with P3. I don't think that is a problem at all.. |

The problem is, it is not a problem to take the optional papers together with the uncompleted core papers, but it is not allowed to take optional papers without taking the uncleared core papers.Anyway, I am taking P2,P5 and P6 next month, that is why I say you can take P2 and P7 at the same time although you haven't fully completed P1-P3. Philip Woo's P1 revision class is really late this year and I am thinking not to attend it since I think it is better for me to stay at home and use productively the two days time. I usually cannot concentrate in really long classes. Can anyone give me some insight on how Philip conducts his IRC? If it is just some normal brief summary of what he taught in class and going through some past year questions, I would probably skip his classes, or is his IRC really helpful for the exams? I attended his normal classes by the way

I attended his normal classes by the way well he well kinda go through what he taught in class previously during his revision but he will focus on the more important stuff only, like he will go through like how to determine those qualify not qualify part, if you are in his normal class then you should have his lil box where he draw how to determine it... if you forgotten some of the concept then i suggest you better go for revision la... um... he will go through quite a lot of PYQ in revision, then he will spot what he think is important. Then again, i wont suggest you use his tips la, cause last sem i was under him and his tips not accurate also... study everything is the best advice(as usual) la yea! all the best! |

Did he do any other questions besides PYQ or those questions from BPP?if you forgotten some of the concept then i suggest you better go for revision la... um... he will go through quite a lot of PYQ in revision, then he will spot what he think is important.
