exemption letter no need to worry... u can always ask your tuition provider to print or do another letter if im not wrong.

owh as for malaysia prize holders...
are got special achievements
eg people getting 99% in exams are usually malaysian prize holders and would have their tuition fees boared and exam frees waived by ACCA themselves.
which means free for u.
if u do get 100% for international papers you'll get 100% free if im not wrong.
u can always read more about it in the main website.

Let me correct you on that.

Waivers of tuition fees and exam fees are given by the college, as they can use you for their marketing. The most you will get from ACCA is a prize money somewhere between 50-100 pounds, and it's only given for world prizewinners.

For Malaysian prizewinners, sadly you don't get prizemoney from ACCA (not sure about the bronze/silver/gold medallists though).
However, most colleges I know will award you some form of waiver/scholarship/rebate. Sunway for instance gives a 50% waiver of tuition fes and exam fees for Malaysian prize.

-

In order to be a world / malaysian prize, you need to score highest in the world for world prize, highest in malaysia for malaysian prize. Not necessarily a score of 100, since some papers only need about 85 to get highest in the world (which shud give u a good idea how hard the paper is tongue.gif)

Even then, F lvl papers still generally hover between 90-99 marks for world prize
P level tends to be in the areas of 85-99 (with some anomaly such as AFM where prizewinners are in 80s)

Good luck aspiring to be a prizewinner biggrin.gif

As people move to the higher levels, even those who aim to be a prize winner would eventually aim to pass laugh.gif

Added on March 18, 2010, 7:46 pmBSC In Applied Accounting by OBU, we refer to it as OBU, basically a simple thesis that you do upon the completion of the fundamental level of ACCA Papers.

Your thesis grade, together with the average of your F4-F9 papers will determine the grade

http://www.accaglobal.com/students/bsc/

Applied accounting means applying what you learned into a thesis. You must demonstrate that you possess good communication skills and show that you can apply what you learned.

Not equivalent to an accounting degree but who cares when you have an ACCA

I would like to ask a question , after completing ACCA and working for 3 years (and becoming a chartered accountant)

What are the job prospects? Working life would definitely be better than working at BIG4 am i right?

I heard alot about the harsh working life at BIG4 from my sister who is a degree holder for accounts and finance.

I'm currently a student enrolled for CAT > ACCA march intake, orientation starts next monday =)
*
Ok normal people only works 9 to 5 everyday, so around 8 hours for 5 days = 40 hours.
In Big4, when peak period comes its standard > 100 hours.
Off peak period > 70 hours.
Super peak = infinity.

Big4 is a slave house but it does offer one thing no other company will rarely offer to you, shortcut.
If your team in crisis mode (a lot of people leave all of a sudden) then you learn even much faster.
Reason why Big4 staff only needs 3 years is simply this, they worked much more than anyone else. Nothing more. So acca will say you "may" only need 3 years to be certified. May does not mean must.

Dont know why everyone is dreaming of the day to enter big4, should be dreading it.

pushpa is way different now...
as she gets older... her knowledge towards f4 widens! and she juz brags on and on thinking that we are sponges...
thinking that we can juz absorb!
one problem is that f4 is way too easy and she thinks its easy for us first timers
plus she's very textbook orientated which is quite boring...
most of the class juz doze off b4 she even gets to the first break!
i had f4 with pushpa and lydia(doctor)
i would prefer lydia as she takes things slowly and she makes short notes instead of a full textbook full of facts
i think that lydia gives better guidance as her notes and explainations are way simpler in language terms
the fact that pushpa has a huge class (100students) is also kind of big
and as u all know... having big classes... the concentration of the lecturer towards the students lessen

juz my point of view
i personally absorb more info n facts and understand law more in lydia's class compared to pushpa's

some colleges give rebates etc etc
in 2007 sunway kuching or FTMS kuching (i knot really remember tat time)
gave around RM500 per a1 u get in SPM as rebates for your CAT.

if u happen to not get and rebates or scholarships...
study hard and aim a msian prize hahaha you'll get 50% rebates for everything u need to pay.

and u shud be exempted for t1(cat paper) if u get A1 for accounting. but im not too sure if anything changed

i only attended pushpa's class before so i can't make any comparison.
i agree that huge class size lessen the concentration of the lecturer towards students, and even will affect the students' concentration in class. however, students can always raise their questions to clear their doubts should they have any instead of waiting for the lecturer to focus on any particular student.
and pushpa's textbook is actually very exam-orientated, i always try to sit in front so that i can concentrate better, and try to stay awake by making annotation while she's teaching, mark down all important parts that she mentioned, and a lot of those parts actually came out in the exam.
and pushpa always go to past year questions after teaching certain areas, which is very useful as the examiner tends to repeat them.
i like the way she taught us to get used to the flow of answering the questions too smile.gif

Seriously, F4 is easy, which other papers can you pass just by studying pass year questions? sweat.gif

To learn F4, you have to appreciate the law, how it works, what's the objective, develop the interest in it. I find that Ms Pushpa had done a great job in teaching F4.

No doubt all of us tend to fall asleep during F4 class, what do you expect from a paper where you just have to use your ears and hardly write anything?

Talking about big class, try to step into Menon class. On every Tuesday night, we have up to 500 students in the MPH, exam style, all of us seated and listening to her discussing the current issues. Beat that

Never I have stepped into MPH where it's filled to the brim, after her class ends, the road exiting from Sunway will be jam because all the students will be leaving at the same time.

anybody have joe fang F7 note? pls borrow me or sell to me...

i like to ask the NCI for consol is how to calculate?
*
Depends you use Full GW or Partial GW method.

If use Full GW method, then FV of NA at DOR of NCI + attributable GW - any impairement lo
If partial GW, then no GW attributable to NCI, so FV of NA at DOR - any imparement

Depending on how you account for consol adjustments, some adjustments may have been reflected in the FV of NA at DOR or it's reflected in CRE first

Haha, only every Tuesday night, to discuss current issues, she got all the P2 students, both FT groups, + 2 PT groups and we just seat down and listen. This sem will be hell because there are 15 current issues.

Some were even seated on the upper floors LOL

I am 2 months behind before completing my foundation programme, which means my highest qualification would be foundation.

In that case, i need to take Acca knowledge > Skills > Professional.

Can i know the duration for acca knowledge? how long it usually takes?

Is it possible for me to obtain loan for ACCA if i were to enrol in either orange or kasturi? besides banks loan

The colleges mentioned above only provide tuition or do they arrange all the examinations as well?

thx in advance
