almost RM500 for the shipping!!!  sweat.gif  sweat.gif  sweat.gif .... does the total cost buying from US still be cheaper than buying at our local computer center  unsure.gif ? Previously I only experienced buying from Dell online, n that I is local online shop, I thk....  hmm.gif
*
Meh, RM 500 for shipping is nothing compared to the price you are paying. The best Asus laptop you can get in the Malaysian market is G51JX-IX044Z-W7U. What is the retail price? RM 8999.00 Recommended List Price from distributor. Total for the G73JH-A1 including shipping is around RM 5800 - RM 6000 max, you do the math tongue.gif

QUOTE(devkamal @ Jul 3 2010, 11:36 AM)
1st fact, theres no asus g73jh in malaysia.. even if there is, the amount u can a save will add up to more than rm 1000.. its a good bargain....
*
It's actually around 3K or 2999 if you want to be accurate tongue.gif laugh.gif

Nice numbering sequence, would have been better if it was 9999 laugh.gif They got the Windows 7 Ultimate & Headset bundle for this region. It's the same that's retailing in Aussie. Check the review below for this bundle:

Asus G73Jh is surely a good bargain! No regret if you want to ask me.  brows.gif

Added on July 3, 2010, 5:19 pm

Initially, I would expect it to be RM9000+ as the price of Asus G51 is around that range of price. Thus, Asus G73Jh price tag must be more and less the same as it is equipped with better configurations/ specifications. For certain, I will buy it from resellers of US which is way more cheap.  thumbup.gif
*
Let's hope the customs tariffs doesn't change for IT products. What I don't understand is if IT products is suppose to be "Tax Free" then why the hell are the distributors fixing such an exorbitant price? Beats the hell out of me hmm.gif

Anyway, great news for us owners because this means there will be spare parts at the Asus Service Center if we need RMA laugh.gif

This "tax free" issue for IT products is kinda arouse my curiosity too. Why the local resellers put such a high price on the IT products?  hmm.gif
*
I just did a price comparison with other brands & it all boils down to profits. Why lower the price when your competitor is offering less and around the price range? They should be justifying the prices with that assessment. Check out alienware specifications and price range then compare with the G73JH. If you compare it, the G73JH might cost a little more than the alienware but it's specs blows the alienware away (Standard Pre-Built Systems sold over the counter). This allows them to gain maximum profitability compared to making it more affordable and selling it quantity. There is little price control here and the consumers usually are the one who pays to offset business decisions like this cry.gif

Oh well, with a little knowledge and inconvenience (wire transfer, waiting period) we can save 3k++. I can think of a lot of things to do with that amount of money laugh.gif tongue.gif

It goes for USD1.5~1.6k with free shipping in USA. I'm actually looking forward to buying this in a months time when I go to US. BUT meanwhile, I wanted to get some feedback from owners.

Can someone tell me what kind of backpack I need to get to be able to fit this thing in? Also, does getting a good quality backpack (with back support, strong straps, etc) help with the weight? I understand it's something like 4kg, so does it really feel like carrying a brick?

Thanks =D
*
Check out the numerous video reviews in this thread and other sites. Asus markets this model with several accessories and the ones that comes with a bag gets a ASUS branded ROG backpack made by TARGUS. Use google and look for unboxing G73JH-A1.

Dude . . . don't describe me as Evil when it comes to buy accessories for your G73Jh.  sweat.gif For sure deep inside you guys' heart have the "desire" to buy them and you all are lacking of the "POWER" to push you guys from behind and "coincidently" I'm the "ONE" who did that for you guys.  brows.gif

As for the money matters, I'm in the situation where I have to crank up more & more part time jobs at Germany in order to fill that missing figures in my account.  laugh.gif

LMAO! Hence I got "pushed" by your "POWER". The force is strong with this one! laugh.gif tongue.gif Seriously, thanks for all your assistance. You've been a great help biggrin.gif

Next up. the Razer Orochi un-boxing pictures, probably in a day or two. Work is catching up sad.gif

sony ericcson phone. p1i...  thumbup.gif

i looked at the specs while i was searching for a good one..

i have few headsets in my my mind now, i'm gonna get either

logitech g35 (surround doesnt work with some games)

sharkoon x-tatic (the best but too many wires, need 1 power outlet)

roccat kave (3.5mm jack)

razer megalodon.

cyber snipa. (cheapest)

all of the above except sharkoon xtatic produces virtualised surround sound, and i also wish to utilize the optical output on asus..

but jeffrey,  does roccat have optical input/toslink, from wt i know, it has 4 3.5 mm jack and if u plan to use it with asus, u cant get 5.1 surround, the usb is to power to headphones,  because the only available jack on the laptop is for front and mic..

correct me if im wrong..
*
Optical output?!?!?! I think I must be going crazy! Where is it under interface?

Asus G73JH Specifications

So far all the video reviews I've seen doesn't show an optical output, only interface for audio should be (Highlighted in red):

1 x Microphone-in jack
1 x Headphone-out jack
4 x USB 2.0 ports
1 x RJ45 LAN Jack for LAN insert
1 x HDMI

sorry, this is embarassing, its spdif, no optical output... damn...

sorry man, i wasnt careful, i was searching few months before if there was headphone with hdmi converter(im crazy i know), it just carried on from there completely forgot the real interface...

got my messy mind mixed up with some reviews..

so i'll be getting the logitech g35 then..
still with roccat kave its not possible to get surround, theres only 1 output for headphone, unless theres a converter to usb..
*
I've done some research for you and the best bet for Surround sound will be the Razer Megalodon. If Surround is not a high priority then don't waste the Moolah and invest in a good quality stereo headset instead

Erhmm, SPDIF!?!? hmm.gif I must go for my checkup again, ROFL! laugh.gif

I do mind the surround actually, logitech g35 is direct competitor for megalodon, the only difference is the sensitivity
g35= 90 dB  megalodo =102dB ,  but g35 is slightly cheaper..
im doing summore research, looking for headphone with 4 speakers in each cup...
*
What the difference in price, ie. cheapest price you can find?

Great post, will help a lot of future owners biggrin.gif BTW, with USPS express which company delivered to you in Malaysia? Poslaju or Fedex? When did you order (date accepted to delivery date) or if you still have access to the tracking information it would be great if you could report it back here. Thanks in advance biggrin.gif

Any owners here shipped with Priority Mail International Parcels? Did Poslaju send to you or was it Pos Daftar?

USPS Express delivery uses Poslaju but I'm not sure for Priority International. Some LYN members says Priority International goes through Pos Daftar so I just want to confirm when my unit arrives and can track it locally biggrin.gif

So, you plan to upgrade your wireless card? Any reasons behind that?

For me, I'm not in that financial stability stage yet to upgrade any of the hardwares now.  cry.gif
*
The stock Atheros card has bad wireless range and limited to 150Mbps wireless transfers rate. I will be carrying this notebook around so might need to use some WiFi spots sometimes. I want to make sure my unit have decent wireless capability. Anyway the upgrade is not too expensive, around RM 70 - 80 wink.gif biggrin.gif
