Unfortunately the citylink (airport rail) line is running with approx. 30 min. frequencies between trains. If you've just missed the last train, it's going to take a long time to get to what is a relatively near station. If you're alone, try taking the motorcycle taxis (motosai) instead at around 10B per person to Chitlom. They are found almost every corner wearing colorful vests. Say "pai chitlom BTS, thao rai khap/kha?" (how much to chitlom?) and he will say either sip baht (10) or sip ha (15) - not more than that.
*
Mmm...Make sense !! thumbup.gif So PR place is only good for airport link but not so convenient for BTS. What do you reckon, DrezzUp ?

Hi Yuki

R u sure kar? I went to Bangkapi which about 45 min from Pratunam n traffic jam cost me less than 400THB. Fromm Platinum I tvl to Ratchadapisek in only less than 100 THB and from here to JJ is very near.,probably less than 80THB. You got Limo?

*
Well, i guess is not a matter of cheap but whether u want to be caught in the jam. What kind of experience you. If u are d one who are adventurous, by all mean BTS. Is quite jam over the weekend to JJ mkt and going by cars to Grand palace oso quite a jam place.

Ummm..nvr experience the waiting time...hhaha.Well, I love walking lar. And I have taken the Airport Rail Link to Makassan station to go to MRTA. So from this Hotel I actually walk to Pratunam then platinum then to WTC, Big C then Erawan Shrine. Stop at the Hyatt Hotel loo then walk to Chitlom station oso can. Whichever way.

D fact I like it here, cos going to airport is ez n fast. no need to worry abt traffic jam. Food ,shopping, massage oso ez. U can easily hail a taxi rightoutside the hotel. Everything is convenient. And I use CIMB ATM so is pretty convenient as CIMB THAI is just across the road for me to withdraw money. 7/11 is just around d corner. so it depends on individual what you like.

D other hotel I like is Best Western Mayfair cos they have free tuk-tuk (cos they r quite deep in)and superbly clean hotel

Thanks everyone provide the estimate taxi fare. Seems like it is worth for me to travel via taxi. Did the taxi allow to take 5 passengers ? i shall insists on meter right?
*
Yupe..just ask for meter..
when i go from pratunam to chatuchak im using meter that cost about thb80..
but when i want to back to pratunam..maybe because of traffic jam then some of the taxi start for fixed price..
1 taxi offer me thb200, 1 said thb500 but i didnt take..
after that i take another 1 thb140 which more expensive thb60..
but because of im tired and lazy so i just take it only..

Ya. Walking to Phaya Thai BTS is so freaking far. The locals were telling us it is a 5 minute walk. But it took us almost 10-15 mins!
So, the next day, we took airport rail link to phaya thai then change to BTS

I changed my mind, I booked True Siam Hotel instead, I googled map and found Tango, Citin and Mayfair location is not really convenient afterall. Though Tango located near to airport link but very far from BTS, hassle if need to change from airport link everyday to BTS. Mayfair hv free tuk tuk but going back unless you call them, walking would be quite a distance.

I found this hotel on agoda then I googled that True Siam just opened 2 mths ago and saw some 'real' photos of the hotel on taiwan/HK forum site. Looks ok for a budget place, room is not too small with king size bed. Shouldn't be dirty or having much problems since that place is so new. Best is the location, 5mins walk near both phaya thai BTS and airport rail link, walking to platinum is around 20mins. Agoda - RM158/night PYO travel only RM103/night for standard room. drool.gif

oohhh i saw the pictures, the room looks huge and clean. But its RM150++ per night, its over our budget. Btw i booked Tango d, 4nights for Rm440+ with breakie. My initial planning was ON8 Sukhumvit hotel, the BTS station is just 5 steps away from the hotel entrance. Although nearer to BTS is better, but like other forumer say how often you gonna use it, more over if your traveling with more than 1 person, taxi will be more worth.

If the need to travel, just need to adjust time a little, for eg, avoid rush hours. If really no choice then take BTS from airport rail transfer to phaya thai to BTS. I mean only do it once a day, it should be fine. If return back to hotel just take the taxi after or before rush hours.

Sometimes I find Agoda is not cheap at all. PYO Tvl is much cheaper. The last time I booked best western via PYO tvl.

Btw, you can get local SIM card to make calls in Thailand as well as overseas. So much cheaper than roaming. Get a TRUE sim card at 7/11. While staying in Best Western, when I reach the BTS station, I will call the hotel for pick up n when I reach the pick up point the driver is already there. Th tuk tuk will be there within 5 min.

FYI,20 mins walk to Platinum is not near at all.well, it depends where u wanna go n your priority shopping venue food. For me is around Platinum & Pratunam. I can just walk there day n night less than 10 mins. So I hardly use BTS except going to JJ mkt & Chinatown. For those of you shopping at Platinum, do check your clothes, sometimes stitches are not goo.BTW, taxi dun like to go Chinatown during weekend especially evening. Jam & pack. So best to take MRTA to Hua Lamphong and take a tuk tuk to the Yaowarat @ 30THB per tuk tuk.

I paid RM103 at PYO travel, agoda price is much higher. So only RM309 for 3 nights including breakfasts.
It's somehow near Victory monument too, heard there's a market/shops there as well. I think I'm using BTS quite often so my first pick would be nearer to BTS because I plan to go Grand Palace, Asoke, Siam Square, MBK-national stadium, Saphan Taksin etc. For China Town I'll just take taxi, it's like super out of the way...

Yup I've got one simcard from phuket it say True ... just need to reload that card, I hope it's still working biggrin.gif I went Phuket half a year ago, won't expire so soon right?

I'm only planning to go Platinum mall once after I visit the Grand palace in the morning, so I'll just stop by the nearest BTS and walk there. I've walked half an hour to a mall in Phuket, 20mins still can be accepted for me nod.gif Or maybe there's some other shortcut [need to google map but don't know if it's accurate?] No priority in this trip just shop, eat, sight seeing, spa and drink at night.

Where's the interchange for MRTA? It's so inconvenient to go China Town ... rclxub.gif

Eh? I thought Siam is interchange between 2 BTS lines. I'm confused, I shall see the map again....

Pictures may be deceiving ... LOL the webby says 30squarem, I think tango one is 24 square/m for standard rooms. I wanted to book a superior one - 38square/m instead but True Siam's superior only got 5 and not available for booking at PYO sweat.gif Anyway I think we hardly spend anytime in the room besides sleeping and bathing ... Where did you book tango? Agoda?

There's always protest in BKK small or big but I heard that they're friendly and not as bad as what the news reported. The recent gathering was to remember ... er someone or some people ... I forgot what's the purpose. Normally I heard the protest is at area like near pratunam? platinum mall?
