we took tuk tuk mostly at night. and avoid taxis coz of the jam.
we tried the chicken rice and the platinum food court, too.
we din opt for the local ferry, coz we r stopping from pier to pier..

yeah, BKK is awesome! will go back there to shop again!

Ohh...to avoid jam...then m always on BTS...jam free n cheap.

Not the chicken rice in Platinum but Pratunam at nite. Is famous.Packed with people at nite. And 5 of us had 3 plates (medium size)....dunno why either is good or v r damn hungry

Local ferry do stop where ever u want ...just ring the bell. And pay for the right fee. The conductor will go round the ferry like bus conductor :-)

Hi there,

If always use BTS, do they have "1 day" pass? If got, the pass applies to BTS only? or share among all lines? For example, Touch N Go alike thingy..

Yes there's a one day BTS pass. I think it is 120B. Be aware, the BTS is sometimes not the fastest nor cheapest way: depending on time/location/number in your party, taxis might be cheaper and faster. For short hops, the motosai (motorcycle taxis) are cheaper and faster. Depending on route, the khlong taxi (Saen Saeb) may be faster. Or the water taxi on the Chao Phraya etc. Sometimes even the bus is faster and cheaper - the red buses are free.

No, there is no such thing as a pass that works across all the 4 transit providers BTS, MRT, BRT and State Railways (CityLine). Coming soon but as they say, TIT - who knows when (probably on some future King or Queen's b-day ha).

Thank you. As alot of forumers suggest to take cab instead of tuk tuk if not in a rush. but i will use BTS for rush hours and b4 shopping trips. After shopping trip i will take cab.

Most of the hotels do not provide airport transfer, i was reading there is this line which can take from airport to city center. How much will it cost? The hotel i intend to stay charges me THB1200 per trip. Its RM120 per way.. Quite expensive.

If i want to go to the floating market from Pratunam area (I'm staying at PR Place) is it easier? Any method of transportation recommended?

The airport rail link charges from ponit to point. So dunno which point or line you are refering to. And the recent forumers that went there from airport to Ratchaparop station is about 40THB

Hotel limo is dedfinately expensive. I guess the metre taxi at the airport is cheaper .

Anyone have stayed at Baiyoke Boutique before? How's the hotel?
I'm considering between Baiyoke Boutiqe and Budacco, but location wise I think Baiyoke Boutique is better right?

Hmm care to explain why? Location or ... ? shocking.gif

I read some past review, it's located at some noisy alley but the rooms look so promising, clean etc wonder if only the photos look great

Also saw your recommendation on Tango Vibrant the photo looks great and for the price I paid for Baiyoke S/Budacco is the price for a superior room at Tango. You stayed there before?

If given Best Western Mayfair n Tango Vibrant which do you recommend?

baiyoke seems very popular for the shopping fanatics because its just nearby to platinum mall.. but i read from blogs and some TA reviews that alot claims the hotel not very well-maintained, things seems run down. For eg, alot complaint about the carpet is dirty and seems old and with water patches.

but if you are ok with it, then its also a good location hotel.

Just came back from bkk last sunday. Stayed 3 nights in Baiyoke Boutique and the rooms there are quite good.

One thing I liked about Baiyoke Boutique is you can ask the bell boy how much does the taxi cost from hotel to your destination. They even provide free shutter van.

Yup that's what I read also some said pipe leaking and the room not as clean, run down due to the age and for that price can get something better. I read Tango's review, seems good but very far from BTS or MRT, walk is at least 20mins. Best is that Platinum is very near.

Really? Which rooms did you take? The shutter van only from Baiyoke to BTS?

I think it depends on wat u going to do there. Misnly shopping then it's the best choice.

Even it has free shuttle, how about going back to hotel. Either u walk or take cab straight.

Btw... Any reviews on the skybar at lebua tower or moon bar? I plan to there for a drink. Which one is more worth..?

I think the free shuttle is only to Siam Paragon only....can't recall. Subject to seat availability. You have to make your way back.

So far, Best Western Mayfair Suite provide to n fro free shuttle within 800 metre. Finish your shopping, call them to pick you up at the point where they drop you...just love the service.

The nearest BTS to Best Western is Ratchathevi station. They will not drop you at the station but near 1st hotel and you got to walk across the road and walk a bit.

They will drop you to Pratunam. And for Platinum ...they drop you nearest point and you have to walk across the road. anything opposite site of the road, they will drop you to the nearest point.

I think I will settle for Tango Vibrant since I google and saw the Airport Rail Rink is very near and probably 15-20mins walk to Chit Lom station. Best thing is only 10mins walk to Platinum Mall and around 15 mins to Central World, Big C. rclxms.gif I hope I made the right decision biggrin.gif
