or buy the famous blue and red stripes plastic bag (popular in HK) in Platinum Mall.

Seriously @marts_8, if u catch a tuk-tuk in front of Platinum, it will actually need to make a big u-turn up the road before u can go back to Baiyoke. So, it is better to just walk and btw, the way back to baiyoke is where Pratunam is .. more shopping for you too. smile.gif

his chatuchak really is the most worth going shopping place in thailand?

I read that alot of forumers had very bad experience at the floating market. So i plan to skip it but, if skip it, its like u didnt go bangkok b4, imo.

If my motive is for shopping, which district you guys will recommend?

Chaktuchak is a sprawling place where you can get everything that u want under one roof i.e clothes, ceramics, pictures, household decorative items etc.. however, it is too hot and stuffy for me. I prefer the Pratunam area.

Sightseeings will be the Kings Palace and the Wat around that area. Take the river cruise if you want to.

I have been to Bangkok 3 times the last 12 months and all the time it was only shopping and reflexology laugh.gif

This is my 1st time going to bangkok, hence i might consider spend more time on sightseeing and return next time for shopping. I goin after CNY, CNY shopping not long ago, then shopping ago..

How about the floating market? it nth much special i might want to skip, since alot of bad comments.

Pratunam, what's special in that district? Sorry, i still cant remember the names properly, maybe u can name some famous landmarks.

I'm flying into Bangkok this coming Friday.
Then heading to Pattaya for the weekend! wink.gif

Chaktuchak is a definitely must for shoppers.
If I'm not mistaken, the floating market isn't very attractive these days.

Sorry but I can't really advice on sightseeing in Bangkok because my last few trips there was just for shopping. Try googling around if you can't find any other info on sightseeing in Bangkok. I always find Wikitravel a good place to start. smile.gif

Pratunam is basically a shopping area if u are into latest fashion and not so pricey. A little walk from here will take you to Siam Paragon, one really big mall. I m not sure if Central world has open since it was burn down by the red protester's last year. All these are within the vicinity. and if u are a Buddhist, the famous Erawan shrine is also around the area.

about the floating market .. i have actually not been there at all.

if possible , visit this restaurant http://www.pda.or.th/restaurant/about.asp

cry.gif bad memory here.. before i went bangkok i was kinda anticipating a fine dinner with my bf at this restaurant..
I had ordered 3 foods and none of them tasted nice to my bf... ended up i keep getting the blame from him for suggesting such a restaurant which only sells environment..
well, i guess it all depends on individual, for me, it's worthed going, coz the environment is kinda nice indeed.. but maybe to some people it might be a waste of money?

Hi, I will be with my family of 3 people (including myself) in Bangkok for 4 days and nights. I have no idea how much an average meal costs plus other costs, need some advice. Won't be shopping til we drop, probably just some moderate shopping for clothes/accessories?

Is exchanging currency there a good idea? If so, which is best to bring along - ringgit, Euro or pounds (still have some from previous trips)?
