Since our last TT, as some of you remember I serviced fork last month at BeeHock's. Since then I've been noticing my engine 'choking' at top end... meaning at high RPM, the bike will 'cough' and I can't catch up to C&G already... I've been putting off servicing the carb until just now.

Realized that my air filter is covered with dust and dried petrol making it very dirty... So I took it off, dip it in laundry sabun and dried it. I've also replaced the 3 point Racing Boy spark plug to the original NGK plug.

Took it for a spin, and noticed a huge difference. The engine is so much lighter now, and of course I get better top speed. smile.gif

Charge, the last time we sprint, what's my top speed agak? Gimme actual value, not the LC value please...

159cc vs 135cc

its a lot ! but hold on first, because we are half way R&D on the 58.5mm project. My aim is to get a bike which can breeze easily on the street and hit 160kph (LC meter) easily in 600m. see can do or not la tongue.gif
btw, my bike can hit 135kph (100% width in KOSO) in less than 1km (including uphill at Tapak Pesta road).   brows.gif

KOSO meter only up to 135kph? cannot be mah... or is the scale adjustable?

Of course I am still using back the 60mm piston now, but I have a secret and extreme modification going on, needs 1 month to complete. Bee Hock said he only do for me because too hassle, and I dunno how much $ I need to prepare yet tongue.gif

mod to 2-in 1-out engine head? biggrin.gif
supercharged LC? yawn.gif

This is the sacrifice you gotta make - either low end torque or high end power. My first cam behaved this way too, then I switched back to stock cam and do some custom port and polish. Now I am using a Thailand made 250 degree cam, and it has good mid-low to high rpm power. Of course there are many more things, such as pairing with a 28mm carb with correct jetting (very important) and the correct CDI firing angle setting. Each bike will have different settings, you may need to try all the combinations particularly for your 57mm.

are you still using stock carburetor?
I'd suggest you 24mm UMA racing carb, then use racing gear set (as their gearing is closer so tat u wont miss the powerband).

from my LC meter your agak speed is 150kph. Actual maybe is 120kph on KOSO.
KOSO is scale adjustable, I need to set 98% to get exact GPS speed, but now I am running at 100%. Original LC meter is about 123%
and supercharged is a no-no for bike, NA ady make gasket bocor many times tongue.gif

and congrats, u hv solved ur engine problem, let's see how it goes!

Ok, thanks man. It was a dumb problem to begin with. Now that I've washed bits of the paper filter off, what's left is the metal netting that would probably just filter off larger particles.

Next time we TT, need your time a bit to pace with me to get the better idea of my actual speed.

Btw, your gasket bocor, is it at the same place everytime? I remember it leaked couple of times liao.

sure, anytime.
yes, exactly the same place. First we thought is too lean carb setting caused overheating, second time we thought is gasket material, third time very confirm is the head problem. So the engine block and head itself went through a process to prevent water going into combustion chamber again. 3 more weeks to wait sad.gif

hmm, what about switching to oil cool? no water to worry about, but then many things need to consider liao. haha...

since you use a bigger block, would you have to trim the gasket when installing, or is it already to spec? Got use good gasket sealant like Loctite or not? Or maybe consider actually measuring your compression ratio?

Everything is done perfectly. The water is not leaking outside the block, but instead goes into the combustion chamber. This is because the cylinder head deform at particular place after continuous long travel distance.

the measured static compression ratio is about 12.x:1
