Hi guys, getting a PS3 this weekend. Getting a singapore set, got any tips on checking the product before getting it?
*
is there a reason you want a singaporean set and not a malaysian set?

Its been awhile since I use my Ps3. Mine still 3.15 and want to upgrade it but I already install linux in it. So should i just upgrade it and will it automatically convert the free space from the linux to ps3 os or I need to reformat the hdd to regain the lost space in hdd when installing linux?  icon_question.gif
*
you will have to format/delete that partition manually or else the space will be lost when you update.

no real idea on the proper procedure, but dont simply update-cos it's been said that you will lose the allotted space

You can't convert PSN ID regions.

What you can do is create a US PSN ID. Go to http://us.playstation.com/psn/index.htm to register a new account. Use Zip Code 99501 and enter whatever funny address you can think of.

Once you're done, create a new profile in your PS3 and associate that profile with your US PSN ID. You'll then be able to access the US PSN store.

Take note, however, that since Capcom's Final Fight Double Impact PSN title, I'd be very wary of any DRM attached to the download.

at least one seller here in lyn carries a malaysia set (gamers familia)
maybe you might wanna check with him first?

Sony official warranty could be good for you(unless you dont mind trudging to singapore if anything happens tongue.gif )

dont think so.
i remember some forummers here saying each ps3 is locked to 1 hard drive.

so if PS3 A YLODs
you buy PS3 B,and take the hard drive from PS3 A, it wont work

and yea,1 year only.

weigh the pro and con before buying.
price vs warranty,if it's worth it.

ps3A hddX (ori configuration)

ps3A hddY (new hdd) -> reformat prompt

ps3A hddX again -> no reformat prompt

ps3B hddX -> reformat prompt, coz it has been formatted by ps3A

-----------

a ps3 can have many hdds, but an hdd can only be 'owned' by 1 ps3

all above for internal hdd only. doesnt apply to externals

some ppl make a mistake before with the old hdd (do backup 1st on external hdd using the backup utility)

they "pandai2" want to do backup thru pc, somehow windows corrupted the ps3 hdd filesystem

if put back into ps3, it will says reformat

since swissknife won't work on vista/win7, any other recommended tools?
