hi.. err, i got a question about connection/modem.

im now using the standard telekom modem.. the blue 1 named billlon.

so, if i get a new, better & branded modem like belkin or linksys will i have better connection? i mean faster or at least lesser lag issue?
*
Unless that modem is worn or particularly damaged, you won't see any significant improvement in connection. If you know how to access the modem's firmware, you can try setting a static IP for your PS3 and portforwarding. Unfortunately I don't use the Streamyx modem, so hopefully somebody else can help you with the further details, etc.

See PortForward.com

On a different note, does anybody know how best to get news of updates in the Asia PSN store? The American PSN blog will update every week with new stuff. I can't seem to find a similar page for the Asian version.

a question about registering new PS3 for the extra 6 months warranty. I bought mine last week and the salesperson told me he would be doing all the online registration for me and that I will receive an SMS or email.

Its been 4 days and still no confirmation email received. What should I do? Register myself? Can anyone guide me to the webpage?
*
May be a stupid question, but have you checked with the shop/person you bought it from?

yes, and he said it could be 'backlogged' but I will get it soon...bla bla. He's a nice guy and I don't doubt him...but if his colleagues are supposed to do it...

if I'm not mistaken, must register within 7 days of purchase rite?
*
If you have access to your PS3 you can do it online quite quickly.

wait a minute, not a warranty registration? then what? "unwarrantied registration"? that's an oxymoron statement
*
Strictly speaking, that's not an oxymoron since you can register a product without getting any warranty benefits, which seems to be the case here.

Anyway, my own question:

I've noticed that my Blu-ray movies have very low volume, especially when compared to the volume levels I get from games. Is there a way to fix this?

Seems like you've misunderstood me (my bad). In volume, I meant audio volume.

hi, forgive me but i dont know where to start to find key word to browse, probably has been discussed in this thread before.

my psn ID is in Malaysia. How to convert to psn US so i can dload better choice of game? or just open new US psn ID for dloading sake, but loging into original malaysia psn ID when to play? i want to maintain my trophy.
*
You can't convert PSN ID regions.

What you can do is create a US PSN ID. Go to http://us.playstation.com/psn/index.htm to register a new account. Use Zip Code 99501 and enter whatever funny address you can think of.

Once you're done, create a new profile in your PS3 and associate that profile with your US PSN ID. You'll then be able to access the US PSN store.

Take note, however, that since Capcom's Final Fight Double Impact PSN title, I'd be very wary of any DRM attached to the download.

Dear Friends, anyone know how to download PS3 games or Create ID in PSN ( 1st time )

Go to the Malaysian PSN page to sign up. You'll need a Visa or Mastercard to purchase games and DLC by accessing the PSN Store via your PS3.

Hey guys so I'm in the states now and I decided to buy an 80gb model ps3 slim. I was pretty sure that a ps3 bought here would work back home in msia, but just to be safe, I sent a message to Sony. I was surprised to hear their reply that not only does ps3 not accept a universal power supply, but they said it also does not play non region one games. Is this all true? Or BS?
*
Since it's a PS3 Slim, the only time the issue of regions will come up is when you want to playback a DVD. Blu-rays, games or otherwise are not region locked.

Upcoming update on 3D PS3, do you need 3D LCD TV to experience 3D effect ? or just my machine enough ?
*
You need a 3D-capable game, the firmware update (when it comes), a 3D-ready LCD TV and a pair of 3D glasses (one or two usually comes with the TV) for each person wanting to view the screen.

Hi, one question here.

Lets I wanna play online match (Tekken 6)?

Would it make any difference to lag if I connect to U.S server instead of Asia server?

In other words, does it really matter which server I connect to?
*
Yes. The time it takes for data packets to travel to and from your PS3 and the server will increase with physical distance. In other words, the further the server is from you, the more lag you'll experience. Of course, lag is diminished with the availability of larger bandwidths...
