not 0 problems, still can get malfunctions such as disc rear error and YLOD problems just that maybe lesser chance of it happening then older models. better just play it safe and get the MY set for the warranty

At first I thought it was because my unit is US version and cannot tahan Malaysian temperature, but then This post seems to imply that it happens with MY/SG units as well. I believe the higher price in Malaysia is because of the pricing strategy, and nothing to do with warranty.
Technically prices should be more expensive in Singapore due to higher freight cost, marketing cost, selling cost, repair cost etc... all in SGD.
However Singapore PS3 has to compete with Microsoft who officially sells 360 in Singapore. To attract more gamers to buy PS3, the console has to be priced reasonably. Also note that PS3 is not a luxury good in Singapore (relative to Malaysia).
In Malaysia, PS3 is the only official high def video game machine. In general there are 2 types of high def gamers - one go for 360 & ahem games, the other one go for PS3 & ori games (ok this is just how the market is segmented, does not apply to everyone. I know a lot of us own both 360+ps3).
If we suckers are willing to spend 10% of our average salary (RM200 out of RM2000 average salary) to buy 1 game. Then Sony can conveniently charge us RM200-300 extra on the console. We suckers will still buy. Make sense?

The truth ... Gaming consoles contribute to Msia Taxes.. if not mistaken 10% minus that tax u will have almost the same price of SGD sets.
SGD sets are actually smuggles goods over to our country. Not officially declared. Thats why no SIRIM stickers. Its the Gov whom is sucking our money

Agree with K3nnYkl82. Alot of electronic appliances will b tax accordingly when selling in malaysia, a car as an example. So with the RM200 extra, i dun mind at all. Is not tat i'm rich or wat, jus tat MY set will save u alot of trouble in my opinion.

PS3 actually does the job better... my fren is working in sony style, he use to complain most the time that those bluray player will be laggy especially when u browse the real time menu compare to a PS3. I guess that is a benefits of the Core Cell

Hello all,
I own a 60GB PS3 which was purchased during the launch in Singapore a few years back. I just recently purchased FF13 and it seems that the console has started "freezing" -- images are frozen on the screen and the only way out is to switch the console off.
I have googled but I haven't found any proper solutions. Anybody else encounter this problem as well?

Don't know if its repost but just found out recently that there is 16 user limit to register in 1 PS3 i.e. if you actively purchase DLC with separate account you may hit the limit. I learnt the hard way and just hit the limit To delete a user account you will need the login to the PSN which I forgot who I bought from...

hey guys, for ps3 slims are there only 2 models? as in 120gb and 250gb? or are there more subdivisions within that? such as cechxxxx? for instance, ps3 phat 40gb had a lot of different variations within it.
thanks

dear sifus,
after 3 days of trying, i would to ask your opinion on my hdmi connectivity issue. hdtv is pioneer 428xg directly to a fat ps3.
1. connect using composite and change to hdmi in xmb - blank screen. 2. unplugging everything, wait 5 minute, plug composite and hdmi, press i/o button until second beep, change to hdmi channel - blank screen 3. same as 2 but press i/o button from red to green to red (reset ps3 to lowest resolution - correct if my method is wrong) - blank screen. 4. the message hdmi device detected, do you want to output video and audio pop up, but when i press yes blank screen on both composite and hdmi channel. 5. sometimes on the hdmi channel, tv info will show hdmi, 576p,36bit but theres blank screen and flashes of green, grey half screen.. 6. change to another hdmi cable, port etc still same result. 7. test cable and port to astro byond. no problem at all...
i ve yet to test the ps3 to another hdtv, the nagging question is this a handshake issue or the hdmi port on ps3 is faulty..
if its a handshake issue, ive googled and didnt found any 428xg user complaining, in fact one or two forummers with the same chain as i is having no problem...is this hshake issue can be unique to specific hardware sets?
thanks in advance..
