dear sifus,

after 3 days of trying, i would to ask your opinion on my hdmi connectivity issue. hdtv is pioneer 428xg directly to a fat ps3.

1. connect using composite and change to hdmi in xmb - blank screen.
2. unplugging everything, wait 5 minute, plug composite and hdmi, press i/o button until second beep, change to hdmi channel - blank screen
3. same as 2 but press i/o button from red to green to red (reset ps3 to lowest resolution - correct if my method is wrong) - blank screen.
4. the message hdmi device detected, do you want to output video and audio pop up, but when i press yes blank screen on both composite and hdmi channel.
5. sometimes on the hdmi channel, tv info will show hdmi, 576p,36bit but theres blank screen and flashes of green, grey half screen..
6. change to another hdmi cable, port etc still same result.
7. test cable and port to astro byond. no problem at all...

i ve yet to test the ps3 to another hdtv, the nagging question is this a handshake issue or the hdmi port on ps3 is faulty..

if its a handshake issue, ive googled and didnt found any 428xg user complaining, in fact one or two forummers with the same chain as i is having no problem...is this hshake issue can be unique to specific hardware sets?

thanks in advance..

Maybe you can check whether your 428xg has the same firmware version as theirs?

will do. but if i am not mistaken its only one firmware and theres no update or announcement ever since.

read that after the ps3 is reset with the lowest resolution, it should work with any pc or monitor right ?

At hdmi 3 channel, is there a menu in your hdtv? (some sort of select pc/hd res)

In pioneer plasma, after you select Input 3, go to menu-> option->hdmi input -> setting Enabled

Hi, i have one question here.
I have a us/canada set of PS3 slim, and wondering what if i bring this ps3 back home, do i need a voltage converter?
There's a sticker under the ps3 saying that, 110v and 60hz. meaning, i need a converter to 240 v/ 50hz if i bring it back to Malaysia.
but then, i came across this website ( http://boardsus.playstation.com/t5/PlaySta...ge/m-p/26297139 ).
In the first page, it says that there's no need for any converter/transformers, as it's sort of built inside the ps3 itself.
but, since the post was dated back in 2007, this could be valid only for ps3 fat.

any of u guys brought home 110v ps3 slim back to malaysia?
Do u guys use any converter to operate the ps3 itself? thanks

another unrelated question, was kinda confuse,
do ps3 support 3rd party controller? ( logitech, madcatz n stuff. )
thanks, again!

ps3 slim have universal power supply... 110v-240v, confirmed.

no stepdown convertor needed imho.

as for 3rd party controllers support, yeah sure do.

so basically, jusy buy the wire/cable that connects the ps3 to the wall socket, right? ( since it doesnt have any power brick ).

ok, thanks guys.

edit : and by 3rd party controller, does it works wirelessly , or with wires? i was informed that the 2.4ghz wireless 3rd party controller doesnt work witth the latest firmware.

Hmm I don't think the alphabets are the revisions. If it's a new revision (changes to the hardware internally) I would think they'll relabel it as CECH 21 and onwards.
