No image quality difference between either methods.
Since you already have a free HDMI cable, you just need to buy the adapter which should cost around RM10 - RM15.

A DVI-HDMI cable costs somewhere up to RM30 (there are cheaper ones of course).

As stated abobe,i have acer 20' lcd monitor but the problem is it only have vga port,no dvi or hdmi..how do i connect my ps3 to it?
is there any hdmi to vga cable or vga to hdmi adapter sell in shop? rclxub.gif

there is dvi to vga adapter, then u can but hdmi to dvi cable, but i think most lcd that has vga port only doesnt have the HDCP compliance, therefore it may not support the output from the ps3

last time i heard product called HDFury, it supposedly convert HDMI to VGA with HDCP.

a mere cheap cable HDMI to VGA HD15 (Male) cable simply would not work with ps3

If you're willing to shell out for HDFury then I suggest you just get a new monitor. The cost is around the same for a 24inch monitor that is HDCP compliant and probably come with a HDMI port anyway.
