Hey shah, the compulsory firmware is 3.15 now.
Change the link to 3.15 instead of 3.10.

I know people can just as well easily find it in the Play Beyond thread but anyways.... just change it in here too.

I don't want to foresee people saying: "why can't I go online after updating too?" later on.

I've got reports that a few batches of Tesco HDMI cables has issues going up to 1080p.
Not all.... but best to be on the look-out.

I'm still quite very confuse on how the PSN thingy works.

The situation is like this.
1. I bought a SF4 R2, so I bought UK PSN card.
2. I spent half of it for SF4 DLC, so eventually I got some points left.
3. Now I got LBP R3, can I use the remaining point to download LBP DLC to use on my R3 LBP?
*
No you can't.
Because the UK PSN card only works on UK PSN.

Furthermore, DLC for LBP is region-locked IINM (correct me if I'm wrong).
So even if you buy the DLC for LBP in the UK store, you will not be able to use it on your R3 LBP since its region is Asian.

is it ok to leave the power on, but off the ps3?

Eg. swtich On power, but didnt switch on Astro.

That means the light is red light.

Will it affect ps3?

i lazy go behind tv to off the switch sweat.gif
*
Yes its okay.
And no it wouldn't affect your PS3.

Why do you think the switch is at the back in the first place then?

QUOTE(xXAaronXx @ Mar 5 2010, 11:38 AM)
Wanna ask when using a Y-Splitter does it affect the sound quality?
*
No it won't.
Unless you have ears so good you can even pick up the slightest sound of a feather dropping on the floor, I doubt you'll hear a difference.

A couple of people have suggested you change your MTU to 1486, both on your router and in your PS3 also.
If still doesn't work, time to contact your ISP.

What's with the 'multi region' and 'only region 1' consoles you can get at Lowyat?
In your experience, which region are most of the must have games in?

WTA any of u can recommend me a PS3 video convertor ??
from MKV, RMVB or MP4 format to PS3 video format???
pls help ... !!!!
*
Theres no such thing as PS3VideoFormat if that's what you're asking.
PS3 supports a variety of formats, but doesn't support MKV and RMVB.

As for which format the PS3 supports, check the front page.
Don't be lazy.

A bit more revealed on the Project Natal.
http://gdc.gamespot.com/story/6253204/ps3-...ontroller-qanda

Hope they change the outlook of the motion controler... it really remind me of Japanese favorite vibration stick used in AV show.

Jokes aside, the capability is really huge, it captures the 3-axis of the controller (orientation) as well as its position. For Wii it is only motion, am i correct?

At the mid of the video it was shown to be used as sword and slash away in the game. Pretty cool.

lol. yawn.gif

Tell me what does natal has to do with anything playstation.

QUOTE(King83 @ Mar 12 2010, 11:12 AM)
conclusion/summary

hdmi = digital signal.
There's no loss in digital signal strength over cables,
so all cables perform the same. Some cables are more expensive than
others because they give u gold plated cables which supposedly "last forever". You don't need gold plated unless u have serious rat problems.

Hay guys,

I just bought a HDMI>DVI cable today and a 3.5mm jack to RF cable, hoping to be able to plug both my P2350 LCD and my Altec Lansing speaker to my PS3. However, the 3.5mm jack to RF cable is a wrong one (inub). So I need something that looks like user posted image. Anyone have any idea whereabout in Lowyat plaza hv this or anyone on LYN that sells this?
*
Y-splitter is all over lowyat.... sri computer has them, all IT has them.
Heck you can go to imbi plaza, tons of y-splitters there too.

Hello everyone,

I have 2 questions.

Q1.I'm using Dell S2209W, and planning to get myself a PS3. Since S2209W doesn't have HDMI, I would need to use the HDMI->DVI method. But I'm not sure which of the following options to choose. Please  icon_question.gif
Q2. Since Dell S2209W doesn't have audio in/out, I need to use the AV cable method.

Am I correct? Please  icon_question.gif

Thanks !  notworthy.gif

Q1.

Q2.

I already got myself a free HDMI cable from Sony Style, would like to know if method 1 or 2 has any image quality difference, and which method is cheaper...

TQ
*
No image quality difference between either methods.
Since you already have a free HDMI cable, you just need to buy the adapter which should cost around RM10 - RM15.

A DVI-HDMI cable costs somewhere up to RM30 (there are cheaper ones of course).

Go into Display Settings and uncheck 720P and 1080i. Let's see whether your display manages to get 1080P or not but still it'll still be upscaled from the PS3.
*
Wouldn't advise doing so.
Alot of games are 720p locked.

Unticking 720p will simply run the game at 480/576p.
Which make matters worse. And also, the PS3 don't upscale games... your TV does, don't get it the wrong way.

PS3 have 2 GPU but now all the games only running on one. So tis make the another GPU like useless.
*
Where on god's green earth have you heard the PS3 has 2 GPUs? laugh.gif

A quick look around you in this thread alone suggests that we can play online in Malaysia no?

Do a display reset by turning on your PS3 but also holding down the power button until it beeps.
You should be able to select your display to HDMI and resolution to your preference then.

lol no man.

games like tekken 6 also 4gb, bayonetta install almost 5gb, my gta4 with 2dlc also around8gb. -.-

Erh so the mystery of the 1TB HDD SATA for ps3, any confirmation on this?
I checked through garage sales under memory drives, they have like a million type off HDD for sale there. thats why im looking for some opinions here.
*
QUOTE(stormaker @ Apr 21 2010, 09:31 AM)
I'm not sure whether PS3 can support 1TB HDD/12.5mm HDD or not, but i can confirm that most of the 1TB 2.5" HDD have the height of 12.5mm which is not the standard height of 9.5mm. Toshiba recently launch their 1TB 2.5" HDD with 9.5mm height, i think soon other brand like WD will follow.
*
I'm using a 3.5" 1TB HDD for my PS3.
How? Similar to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3uCY_AZt38

QUOTE(emmo_madrid @ Apr 21 2010, 05:43 PM)
dont think its cable problem..coz at first, it detect the cable..but when the system try to process the change of input, i turn off my ps3 coz i thought it hang/no response..
*
Don't understand what you're trying to say... why the heck you turn off your PS3 when the display is changing?
