IP - 192.168.0.14

I have no problems accessing the Internet on my laptop or the Internet Browser on the PS3. The only thing I am unable to do is sign into PSN.

Obtain IP Address - Succeeded
Internet Connection - Succeeded
Playstation Network - Failed

depends on ur connection speed.

i think you need to config your router again
seem like someone messing your router...

that ip address assigned for local networking...

the one connect to streamyx/isp server... eg 60.48.xx.xx, 60.50.xx.xx

what router model are you using?

ps3 cannot see internet ip wan laa... if can browse internet means ur psn id is wrong. try to log in manually

Ah~sorry about that...i ain't no expert when it comes to computer/internet mumbo jumbo and stuff lol.I did an ip check via ipconfig(am i doing this right?)

I'm not using a router btw, i'm using wireless broadband(Digi) connected to the PS3 via a cross cable with my laptop.I did try entering the IP address manually on the PS3 like someone suggested but instead of getting the usual error i got the DNS error instead.Thinking back,I wonder why i was able to sign into PSN without any problems 4 days ago,i even downloaded 2 demos and messed around in HOME..weird.

Sometime its got to do with ur firewall.after i uninstall my firewall,connection become more stable.always can log in.

If ur PC is having an IP : 192.168.0.1 (for the sharing LAN)


set ur PS3 as below..

IP : 192.168.0.x (other then 1)
Subnet : 255.255.255.0
Gateway : 192.168.0.1
DNS : 115.164.115.13 (the digi gateway i suppose)
DNS Alternative : (find it from ipconfig /all)


if do this .. u still get DNS error ... restart ur PS3 ... tat day i kena this thing.. i debug whole night.. end up restart .. kau dim

Using your method,i don't get the DNS error anymore however my previous error remains...(error 80710B23)

Try going to playstation.com and then try to login to ur id and see weather it will let you login

Betas me,all i did was revert back to the original theme n i could sign in no problem..never heard of themes interfering with network connections though.

yes you can. but make sure the package is sealed with official genuine Sony product yellow sticker

about upgrading the hdd...as long as the hdd is 2.5" SATA for notebook it'll fit for sure?

500gb hdd is more common for ppl to upgrade

those hdd with more 500gb have trouble fitting into ps3, due to its being thicker.

normally 1st gen of bigger than usual hdd always have thicker form (12.5 mm), which is not compatible with ps3 internal hdd slot / cradle, but can be put externally + long sata cable

1st gen 500gb 2.5" sata had 12.5mm thickness

now almost (if not all) 500gb 2.5" is in 9.5mm form, which is compatible with ps3

i believe 640gb 2.5" sata is only available in 12.5mm form for now. i could be wrong though

the best way is checking the datasheet for the physical dimension of an hdd on the manufacturer's website.

anyway i look up at WD site for 640gb scorpio blue Model: WD6400BPVT and its confirmed 9.5mm form. Anyone try out yet?

750gb and 1tb still in 12.5mm form atm.

as for other brand i've yet to confirm one.

Also whether the drive is sata 1.5
