I apologise that the figures below are on the scale of 6" and above but I included some comparison shots with the 3 3/4" versions .
I changed my mind about getting the ML 2 packs .Don't want to regret later . DP turns out to be pretty awesome than I initially expected ,with removable katana sheaths ,webgear and hip holster . And since Marvel Select DP is selling at a pretty steep price ,I'll have to be content with this version . Might grab another DP later . Black Widow is another winner .Hasbro has improved on their female face sculpts . Deadpool fans should not miss out on this version . ![]() ![]() Toybiz and Hasbro's version of DP ![]() Stripped of all gear ,he still looks impressive ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Babes ![]() This post has been edited by darkshadow: May 17 2011, 03:54 PM |

Yeah ,it's pricier compare to MU but it's around twice the size of an average MU figure .Plus more articulation ,better headsculpt and body detailing ,it's worth the price .any sightings in TRU PG? the last time i chk there were abt 2 boxes of DP left in ikano TRU. however the retail price is very high DP is selling for around RM200 on ebay.my .That's even pricier . No variants sighted at PG TRU .I would like to get Widow in her classic grey outfit . There are 3-4 Black Widow and Hulk sets but only 2 DPs sighted . |

It is quite worrying how the retail prices have sky-rocketed. The DC universe Green Lantern is going for RM99.90! I heard MU is going to be increase to RM44.90. Just when I thought the recent foreign exchange between USD and RM has weakened! Ah the irony. Darkshadow, are you based in PG? |

I sure hope there won't be any increment for MU figs .Should Hasbro include some extras for the MU line ,then perhaps it justifies the increment ,Look at Mattel's movie line offering of Green Lantern .The figures sport basic 80's style of articulation and yet each one cost RM49.90 .It is quite worrying how the retail prices have sky-rocketed. If i remember correctly, TRU Malaysia is managed by Li Fung, a HK based corporate group. But main boss of TRU is based in US.
Any Hasbro or Mattel item self-brought in by Li Fung to TRU Malaysia stores will have independant pricing. Most of the local Hasbro toys prices are determined by Hasbro Msia themselves. I think Hasbro did market survey and noted that if collectors willing to pay higher price for their toys in 2nd market, they too want to profit from higher retail price. Rm 44.90 for a 3.75 inch figure is too much. That is the price for 6inch Spiderman figures currently. Mattel offering GL and other upcoming DCU figures at RM 99.90...no wonder many collectors move on to 12inch collectibles. At recent warehouse sale, DCU were disposed at RM 15 each only. Price of toys will still be high if there is demand for it regardless whether economy is doing better than US. Li Fung must be laughing all the way to the bank. |

Previously DCU figures were RM79.90 now RM 99.90..refrain from buying 6 pcs to build a bigger figure and we can get Hot Toys.
Hasbro and Mattel are trying to profit from us cuz they know that toys are no longer for kids but for big boys with loaded wallet. Marvel figures by ToyBiz was only RM 29.90 when i first saw them at TRU in 2005. After Marvel action figure rights acquired by Hasbro, 6 inch was retailing RM 39.90 only. NOw its the price for 3.75 inch hasbro MU figures. Lately Hasbro also dun offer any MU 3.75 inch figures to my local TRU. Every week NERF NERF NERF only. SIen.. |

It's not like toys are like comics... I mean, with comics you have omnibuses, absolute editions and what not and they're really value for money.
I mean, recently I purchased Thor by Walt Simonson Omnibus for RM426.00 less 30 per cent, and it collects all of the legendary creator's Thor stories (40 issues in total). And the colours on each panel, each page has been digitally remastered. I also own Absolute Watchmen, Absolute New Frontier, Absolute Crisis on Infinite Earths, etc and yes, they're expensive but at least I get to read them, enjoy every detail of the artist's artwork, get myself transported into the story created by the writer(s) and artist(s) and re-read them again and again and get totally new experiences each time, discover new things etc. So yeah, they're value for money purchases. But when it comes to toys, spending over RM50, RM100, even RM300 for one plastic? I'd rather read comics and graphic novels. I've been collecting Star Wars since the 70s but man, RM40 for one figure these days? And with Hasbro playing hide-and-seek with us, skipping waves even, jacking up prices as and when they feel like it as though we have no other avenues to buy them other than in TRU, Parkson, Isetan... well, please don't push it. I might decide to sell off my entire collection and send my kid to university and say bye bye to toys forever. |

Surely by now ,the 2 top toy companies must know by now that their action figures market centers around adult collectors .Even my local TRUs and toy shops are frequented by working adults .Hasbro and Mattel are trying to profit from us cuz they know that toys are no longer for kids but for big boys with loaded wallet. Yeah ,the good ol' days when Toybiz 6" ML line was sold for only RM 29.90 .Got whole of wave 6 ,most of waves 5 ,7 ,8 and 9 for that price .And I remembered getting 2 ML Blade from TRU ,and it was one of my successful hauls . And they come with a comic or sculpted dio base stands or vehicles for a low price .Sigh ,the good ol' days . Joe ,SW ,MU ,TF and other previously short-lived movie based toy line did include boxsets comprising of several figs .So that's Hasbro's version of "omnibus" . On a side note ,I do collect some of Dark Horse's omnibus offering ,plus most of Classic G.I. Joe Omnibus .But this is not the comics thread .
