I got mine from PG TRU .I believe these arrived last week .
*
yeah i agree. the marvel 2 packs exceeded my expectation. warpath was good too. i didn't manage to see any variant.

any sightings in TRU PG?

the last time i chk there were abt 2 boxes of DP left in ikano TRU.

however the retail price is very high cry.gif

Yeah ,it's pricier compare to MU but it's around twice the size of an average MU figure .Plus more articulation ,better headsculpt and body detailing ,it's worth the price .
DP is selling for around RM200 on ebay.my .That's even pricier .

No variants sighted at PG TRU .I would like to get Widow in her classic grey outfit .
There are 3-4 Black Widow and Hulk sets but only 2 DPs sighted .
*
Thks. I only heard the variants were available in TRU Sg. Must have skipped MY entirely.

It is quite worrying how the retail prices have sky-rocketed. The DC universe Green Lantern is going for RM99.90!

I heard MU is going to be increase to RM44.90. Just when I thought the recent foreign exchange between USD and RM has weakened!

Ah the irony.

Darkshadow, are you based in PG?

I sure hope there won't be any increment for MU figs .Should Hasbro include some extras for the MU line ,then perhaps it justifies the increment ,Look at Mattel's movie line offering of Green Lantern .The figures sport basic 80's style of articulation and yet each one cost RM49.90 .

And yes ,I'm from PG .  biggrin.gif
*
the problem is that it's not hasbro that is increasing the price. it's the sole distributor of all hasbro/mattel. i think the company name is lifung.

now the price is discrepancy is quite wide. it's cheaper to import directly from US ;p

If i remember correctly, TRU Malaysia is managed by Li Fung, a HK based corporate group. But main boss of TRU is based in US.

Any Hasbro or Mattel item self-brought in by Li Fung to TRU Malaysia stores will have independant pricing.

Most of the local Hasbro toys prices are determined by Hasbro Msia themselves. I think Hasbro did market survey and noted that if collectors willing to pay higher price for their toys in 2nd market, they too want to profit from higher retail price.

Rm 44.90 for a 3.75 inch figure is too much. That is the price for 6inch Spiderman figures currently.

Mattel offering GL and other upcoming DCU figures at RM 99.90...no wonder many collectors move on to 12inch collectibles. At recent warehouse sale, DCU were disposed at RM 15 each only.

Price of toys will still be high if there is demand for it regardless whether economy is doing better than US.

Added on May 20, 2011, 2:05 pm

Yup, include more accessories and weapons like Hasbro offer for Gi Joe trooper figures.
*
yes that is correct. hence the price discrepancy is so wide!!

imagine a normal GL figure at RM99.90 is equivalent to USD33 for a figure.

if you are trying to flock a USD33 for a 6 inch figure to US customers, hell will break loose!!!

not surprising, most GL and DC figures are not moving at all and warehouse prices are sold almost at cost (at RM15). so you can imagine the lark-up of these toys!!!

Li Fung must be laughing all the way to the bank.

It's not like toys are like comics... I mean, with comics you have omnibuses, absolute editions and what not and they're really value for money.

I mean, recently I purchased Thor by Walt Simonson Omnibus for RM426.00 less 30 per cent, and it collects all of the legendary creator's Thor stories (40 issues in total). And the colours on each panel, each page has been digitally remastered.

I also own Absolute Watchmen, Absolute New Frontier, Absolute Crisis on Infinite Earths, etc and yes, they're expensive but at least I get to read them, enjoy every detail of the artist's artwork, get myself transported into the story created by the writer(s) and artist(s) and re-read them again and again and get totally new experiences each time, discover new things etc.

So yeah, they're value for money purchases.

But when it comes to toys, spending over RM50, RM100, even RM300 for one plastic? I'd rather read comics and graphic novels.

I've been collecting Star Wars since the 70s but man, RM40 for one figure these days? And with Hasbro playing hide-and-seek with us, skipping waves even, jacking up prices as and when they feel like it as though we have no other avenues to buy them other than in TRU, Parkson, Isetan... well, please don't push it. I might decide to sell off my entire collection and send my kid to university and say bye bye to toys forever.
*
yeah bro i know what u mean.

most comic collectors graduated to collecting toys. i know i did. before then comics was a 32 page coloured A4 prints. later it became die-cast, glow-in-dark, embossed, variant cover crap.

of course prices went thru the roof with these new "additions".

even then paying for comics is still worthwhile as u get to re-read and admire the artwork.

the glory days were the marvel legends. for rm29.90 u get superb sculpt and articulation (imagine some of the fingers are articulated as well) and u get a free comic bundled!!!

nowadays it has shrunk to 3.75 inch and cost rm44.90!!

hasbro is making a big mistake in pushing up the prices as u will deter new collectors who will eventually fill the shoes of the old collectors thus creating a "market" for these toys.

now everyone that i know is migrating to HotToys as the value is thr even though it may cost 5 times the cost of a normal DC GL. now would i pay 5 x more for a 12 inch, superbly crafted, limited production run with growing value or throw rm99.90 for something that will end up in the bargain bin?

we all know the answer to that question.

Haahah, the never ending debate on $$$

it's true, prices never come down. i really really miss those toy biz days. u get a 6 inch, good articulation, great sculpt and a free comic too for rm29.90.

now u get a miserable 3 inch, recycled parts and endless repaint.

why didn't we get the variant ah???

Yeah ,sucks though .
Just got back from TRU with a small haul .
Will grab the rest from the other outlet on the weekend .
I didn't realise TRU marked up the price to RM42.90 for basic fig and RM59.90 for comic pack .
Bcoz of this ,I won't be getting a 4th DP comic pack .Same goes for Doom ,since he's a repaint from the Secret Wars comic pack which I already owned .

Hi naith, thank you for the reply. I'd figured as much. But I only see topics for 12"+ and 4" or below. Whatever happened to the ones in between, like 6" - 8"?

I'm guessing that they're categorized into own topics like Figma, revoltech, transformers, etc. but I didn't notice a Marvel one so tried my luck here. Haha.

Well, to be on topic, is there any nice 4" Gambit figure sighted in KL? I'm not really into online buying so it's best if I can get one from a shop.

Thanks again. Cheers icon_rolleyes.gif

actually this thread could be expanded to include all Marvel related characters.

the new marvel legends are coming out and it will be nice if we can discussed it here

As for Gambit ,the new Gambit vs. Mr. Sinister Comic Pack is definitely worth waiting for .

Singapore TRU nothing spectacular too. Except they are selling Marvel Legends (new version) individually instead of in set. Nobody seems to be interesed in Avengers..a lot stacking up.
*
is it the regular version or the variant. it seems that hasbro done the variant cartons on our shores where else in America, there is very little variants to go about.
