Chaos T3 units.

QUOTE
Our final installment into our series on the forces of the Chaos Space Marines is a big one. It only covers their two late game (Tier 3) units, but they’re both suitably powerful and you will need to keep an eye out for them when the Chaos Rising expansion hits the shelves.

Chaos Predator

user posted image

Chaos Space Marines field vehicles that are a legacy of their past, now adorned in dark icons and daemonic imagery. The Predator is not just impressive to look at, it is a heavy battle tank that can absorb hits and deliver some serious firepower. Players can dedicate their Predator to one of three gods, each bestowing their own unique benefits on the vehicle, customizing it to your play style or the state of the game.

Availability: Tier 3

Upgrades:

Mark of Tzeentch – Dedicating your Predator to Tzeentch upgrades the vehicle’s weapon to twin-linked lascannons, making it very effective at destroying other vehicles.

Mark of Khorne – The Blood God’s mark increases the Predator’s damage output and movement speed.

Mark of Nurgle – The Plague God grants vastly increased Health at the cost of reduced Movement speed.

Great Unclean One

user posted image

We first teased you with this guy in our Developer Diary video, ending it on his jiggling belly of innards and jolly laugh. Our holiday greeting message revealed the Great Unclean One in his full glory, and now we look at how this monstrous daemon translates into the game.

As a mass of flesh, the Great Unclean One can absorb a metric ton of damage and laugh it off. This great durability comes at a cost though, he’s expensive to field and not very quick to get around the battlefield.

The Great Unclean One’s massive sword is just one of his many vile weapons that he can bring to bear. Whether it is a swarm of flies or putrid vomit, any enemy will have their hands full when this unit hits the field.

Availability: Tier 3

Abilities:

Vomit – Spew forth the foul contents of the Great Unclean One’s stomach, damaging and debilitating all enemies caught in the foul stream.

Foul Snare – His innards are not there for just looks, they actually serve a valuable purpose. You can use this ability to project the writhing intestines of the Great Unclean One, snaring any enemies near the target and pull them to their doom.

Consume – Low on Energy? Not a problem. Consume the life force of an allied unit to regain Energy. This is yet another reason to keep some expendable Heretics around.

Swarm of Flies – The Great Unclean One stomps the ground, projecting a caustic cloud of flies that damages all nearby enemy units.

Compared to T1 and T2,T3 does look a bit lacking.

Still look badass even though I am still really dubious that he should be in a game of this scale at all.

Yeap,i feel the same too.

I rather they give something else other than a big chunk of meat shield.

Man, I seriously hope that cartoon refference is reflecting how things would play out between SM and CSM.....so far SM look underpowere in this patch.
*
Dont think so,as Devs,Dreads and Preds are getting Las Cannon Upgrades. TM getting Melta Gun which makes him a good close range AV hero.

Also, not forgetting that under and over power wargears are also getting fixed.

Im more worried about Orks as they seem to lack of new toys, other than Weird Boy.

Chaos Rising Update For Dawn of War II

QUOTE

user posted image

With the release of the Chaos Rising expansion on March 11, ALL Dawn of War II owners will have their copy of Dawn of War II updated with additional content.

If you're not yet an owner of the game or haven't convinced your friend to buy it yet, keep an eye out for a Steam sale. This new update to the game includes:

Everything you need to face the forces of Chaos

    * New Units for each of our existing races.
          o Space Marine Librarian
          o Eldar Wraithguard
          o Ork Weirdboy
          o Tyranid Tyrant Guard
          o Tyranid Genestealer Brood
    * Play with Chaos Rising owners – play against the new Chaos race in multiplayer or alongside two new heroes in The Last Stand.

New Game Mode – Free for All

Battle against five other players in the new Free for all (FFA) game mode where there can be only one victor.  Victory points will change hands and knives will be firmly planted into backs as players slowly gain points towards their win.  If you’re in the lead, prepare for the onslaught of every other desperate player in the game.  The game will also support Team free for all, which sets three teams of two against each other.

New Maps

Seven new multiplayer maps to continue the war on.

We’d also like to remind users that there will be a Leaderboard reset when the Chaos Rising update is released.  The battle for top spot will start again!

The Chaos Rising update will be available through Steam on March 11.

Relic is quite generous in giving out content.

Now,start praying that it wont be an imba fest, again.

Lol Cheese, that SS is quite funny, for a second I thought "well, it could works for scour to use some tyranids costume/armor to hide.... then realized how stupid it would be  biggrin.gif  (Especially seeing that only Cyrus wears it with the rest of the scouts still running around in normal armors)

How well, I will see when I reach home if everything started downloading fine with wifey booted the computer this morning, somehow I doubt no click somewhere from my side will be needed but we will see.

The shots are funny, but at the same time,it's disgusting as Relic's QA still the same.

I want to see my new Tyrant Guard and Genestealers.

LOL,Chaos is always my favourite race in DoW1 after IG.

I was considering of buying the expansion since day 1 it announced. Im still on the fence as the balance is totally fubar now with Super Assault Terminator and Wrathguards(LOLguards). Those 2 are the main flaws of the game that will break the game. Probably followed by the insanely high regen rock,a.k.a Tyrant Guard.

I have just been digging on stats only, havent tried the patch. Just hope these imbas wont affect the game too much and Relic patch it by end of March.

Just tried the updated version of the game.

The pacing is nice,as you are almost guaranteed to reach T3 to use the new toys.

Genestealer and Tyrant Guard are pretty good addition to Nids army. I think Nids wont be as annoying to play as last time.

SM's new stuff are good too,Las Preds,Las Devs etc. The only problem is,Lightning Claw Assault Terminator is way too good. They kill a full hp Tacs squad or a Pred in 1-2 seconds and can solo to destory a whole base with 70% hp left. It's way too good and easy as hell to get.

This kind of reminds of the first few months of DoW2, the whole game is so buggy and plagued with balance issues like Venom Cannon wtfpwn everything..

Jus wana clarify....although its ezy to get these things.....in a real battle it might not be so easy to choose from all those options....
You will still have limited resources to decide what you want and each upgrade isn't very cheap....in my understanding....(for example) those claws although very strong...however are only available to a TERM off world summon....just from having the resources to summon them balances out the damage output given from the Claws to armour..compared to say the old Missle Barrage is mor economical....however everything really depends on the game situation....

I don't think the claws can disable a vehicle so I'm guessing the Tank has to be very stationary for a good hit which I doubt any good player would leave alone. Practical sense....I believe relic MP balancers this time around really given some thought on what they included....

The lasscanon for those long range tank kills (Rate of fire is alittle slower compared to a light lance) however gives the SM player more options....I think a lasscanon reduces its dmg output vs heavy infantry or anytype of infantry..which is bad since AT infantry will chew up a tank.

Finaly....I doubt this is like the VC issue back in Vanilla and Beta....this is more towards overall race balancing...

I think chaos probably has the bigger toys now compared to other races however they are quite slow overall...

I won't talk about chaos 2 much cause what I'm reflectin on is from the Live Gameplay demo a few weeks back. However once I get my copy sometime 2day I will see what they really play like...
*
I still think those claws are too strong, way too strong till it's as bad as VC back on DoW2 release. 300 Zeal, plus 600 reqs,70/70 for the claws isnt that hard to obtained in a real game. Terminators are slow, and teleport range isnt far,but it becomes a problem when they are able to melee a unit or worse,a blob. Due to their high damage, they could kill them in seconds and they have some sort of AoE attack that gibs enemy easily.

I think you should actually see it in action. It pawn anything real fast. The claws also do splash damage at the same time, and also random special AoE gibbing attacks.

Dont forget that T3 tanks are slow now, almost like CoH's tanks speed. I think that actually make Carnifex scary, plus with HP buff.

It's too early to jump to conclusion, but now,LC AT looks OP from my experience with them.

Genestealers are damn good too, maybe thats why Banshees is buffed,as just now,i saw them almost instantly killed a squad of banshees 1v1.

Maybe it balance up in the end, with Nobs,WG and Genestealers to be used against LC AT.

I think the overall balance is much better, though. WG is not too bad, quite easy to counter. Relic did make a good job in balance, but fail at QC with the sound and campaign bugs. The AI improved a lot too, feels more like playing against a human player now. Nids feels like they are quite competitive now, unlike in 1.9, T2 and T3 is quite hard to play.

My major problem is still the sound issue, feels like im playing underwater and i could barely heard the unit speeches.

i think should get CR then. This looks like a solid expansion, like DC adding to DoW1 + WA.

Bt making units corrupt in SP has thier issues....in the manual it states they will rebel against your actions as well as refusing to launch into battle with your Commander.....However theres also instances where they will outright fight with your squad if you choose to be corrupt.

Maybe an Inquisitor will have a visit as well XD..
I forgot to mention this in the last post....Anyone notice that we can change stances now during battle ? EG: focus on Range attacks on and not jst combine melee and range.
*
Yeah,stances can be changed now.

I just tried a game of Team Free for All. Man,this is awesome!!!

Extremely messy and fun.

CR looks really good, except on the sound problem.

After installing DOW2 CR, I can't even start either DOW2 or CR.

There must be something not right.

Maybe delete everything and install from disc?

I have checked around, seems like reinstalling the whole game is the best solution.

Just something for all DoW2 owners to be careful.Im not sure whether everyone knows this or not.

GFWL is a DRM in DoW2 and you only have 10 activations that there is no way to redeem back, other than calling overseas to get a new key.

People have started to hit the installation limit even with CR. I wonder what will happen in the 3rd or 4th expansion pack.
