Last new unit for existing race:

Orks Weirdboy.

QUOTE

user posted image

Every so often an Ork comes along that is a little bit different than all the others. These Weirdboyz are Ork psykers, conduits for powerful psychic energies generated by masses of greenskins and their enthusiasm and excitement for a fight.

Unit: Weirdboy, a long range support unit and caster. Charge his energy by putting him near da boyz and having them Waaagh!!! shout.

Availability: Tier 2

Abilities:
Zzap – Fry an enemy with psychic power. The charge will periodically jump to other nearby units, friends or foes, damaging them as well.

Warp Vomit – Vomit up the psychic stuff roiling in the Weirdboy’s guts, damaging anyone caught in the spew.

Upgrades:

Bigga Brains – Increase the Weirdboy’s health and grants the Over Dere! ability which allows the Weirdboy to fling nearby Orks through the air without causing them any damage. It’s not quite as graceful as teleportation, but it can get the job done.

Warphead – Increase the Weirdboy’s energy and grants the Foot of Gork ability. The mighty foot of the Ork god Gork is summoned to stomp on enemies, stunning and damaging them.

Warpath – Delays the Weirdboy’s death explosion and grants the Warpath ability. When toggled on, Warpath increases the movement speed of nearby Orks and reduces the damage they take.

Alone, the Weirdboy is a vulnerable caster. When he’s with da boyz though, not only does he gain their protection, he also gains energy faster so he can use his abilities more often. If your Orks use their Waaagh!!! shout, the Weirdboy gains a bunch of energy back all at once, so he can get back in action.

In his support role the Weirdboy has a number of ways to disrupt and damage enemy units, including the spectacular Foot of Gork, which is burned into the terrain after it has knocked enemy units in the area flying. It has a massive energy cost, but beware a Weirdboy in the thick of a frenzied Ork mob. As mentioned above, their energy level can go up in a hurry.

When killed, the Weirdboy floats erratically into the air and erupts with psychic energy, knocking over nearby units. It’s an appropriately Orky end for this unit that bestows the green tide with some not so subtle tricks for their sleeves.

Weirdboy is quite a hilarious unit.

Seems like he's gonna be even funny compared to flat Storm Boys in the ground.

A vague Chaos unit list:

QUOTE
Hi everyone,
In this months french PC4war (yes I am French), there is a preview of the chaos rising multiplayer and we learn a lot of things!!! I will try to translate it the best I can.

First we have the three chaos heroes:
- offense: Chaos lord
- defense: Plague marine champion
- support: Chaos Sorceror

Global abilities (not all discribed)
- Chaos lord
*blinding attack
*chaotique inspiration Puzzled
*the sacrifice of an ally Puzzled

- Plague marine
*toxic explosion of an ally
*a special attack Puzzled
*creation of a toxic cloud that can be controlled like an independant unit

- Chaos Sorceror
*A line of fire Puzzled
*teleportation of units
*invocation of a Khorne temple that allows to create Bloodletters

The article says that there is a fourth ability for all the heroes. The preview didn't allow them to test it but it appeared as a mysterious "Chaos Nuke" Sticking out tongue

The basic abilities are
- Chaos lord: a 360 degres sword hit that steels hit points
- Champion: a cloud that damages ennemies and heals allies
- Sorceror: Doombolt Evil and the ability to consume an allies hit points to gain energy
For the bolt: the more energy the sorceror has, the more the damage

Chaos units Sticking out tongue
- T1
*Cultists
*Marines
*Havocs
-T2
*bloodletters (can teleport)
*Dreadnought
*Juggernaut
*Plague Marines (immune to suppressing fire)
-T3
*Predator
*Great Unclean One

That's all.
Now you can start complaining (or not)
Source

Terrible terrible list,i would say,if this is true.

The commanders are awesome, but the units are quite boring.Too similar to SM.

Great Unclean One would be another annoying Avatar unit.

On the brighter side, new last stand hero:

QUOTE
Master of the swarm, the Hive Tyrant is able to summon a host of Tyranid minions to defend him and destroy his enemies. From disruptive Warriors to deadly Raveners, the Hive Tyrant receives specialized support from the units he can summon. This support is a bonus, not a requirement – the Hive Tyrant is perfectly capable of pulling his own gargantuan weight.

Size matters; the hulking Hive Tyrant has naturally high durability, and all his armor grants immunity to suppression and knockdown effects. These enormous benefits come at the cost of speed and agility. While his Raveners can burrow behind enemies to circumvent their cover, the Hive Tyrant is better off letting the swarms of enemies come to him.

This guy is interesting. biggrin.gif

Well, Chaos SMs (which is the Chaos army that is always shown in DoW (there is army with only demons in the TT for example)) is more a less a mirror of the normal SM anyway, not sure exactly what you expected?

"At least" they put some more colourful units like the Juggernauts and didnt put stuff like the "Chaos ASMs" like (cant remember the name right now, the flying ones) which are copy paste ASMs.
Maybe the abilities or upgrades of each units will help separate them a bit of the normal SMs ones.
*
I mean,Warhammer 40k have so many diverse unit choices, especially for a developed faction like Chaos. It just still bugs me why cant they go for something more exotic like Chaos Vindicator,Obliterators, Possessed Squads, Chaos Spawn, Noise Marines, Daemonettes, Defiler, Rubric Marines, Flamers of Tzeetch, Horrors, Berzerkers, compare to what is already present in the game.

It is understandable that it wont be 100% fluffy but seeing another spiky SM in the making just disappoint me.

If thats what Chaos will play like in the final game,i dont think that Relic have do justice with Chaos.Seems like Relic cant satisfy everyone, but from what i see in Relicnews and DoW2 community forum,no one seems to be happy with this vague list.

Yar, I understand what you mean, just that most of the stuff you named is considered "elite" or rare troops, the bulk is either full of Chaos SMs or basic demons (like the Blooletters, Daemonettes, Uncleans etc.).

They could have put more in the list, I agree, but then the others army who have complained they didnt get as many new or "cool" units (Eldars have way more Aspect warriors types than that in the story for example, SMs have stuff like the Vindicators, veterans squads etc, Tyranids and Orks can have almost anything you want since you can justify almost anyting with their background etc.).

I think they are tied up by the numbers of units each army can have and they can't really make a Chaos Army without basic Chaos SMs for example (though they could have done without the Cultists... but that means no cheap units like scouts maybe)

What I was trying to say is that I am personally not "surprised" by that list if it's confirmed, I totally agree I wish Relic was a bit more imaginative but I did not expected it.
*
Elite or rare, that shouldnt be a problem as it's just a game in the first place. If you look at DoW1,you could have killed over 9000 Grey Knights or 12000 Space Marine died in a skirmish. Relic never make their games based on fluff. They always put gameplay first, then, only fluff.Even in CoH,there are quite a lot of factual errors in the game.

I say they are just lazy than being not imaginative. At the same time, not listening to fans. Now only we are getting Wraithguard and Chaos Dreadnaught, while fans have been asking for it since WA.If not,it could be GW holding them back but i dont see any reasons of doing so.

I would say Cultist could have been replaced by Traitor Guards or some weak Lost and the Damned basic unit.

If that list is confirmed,i have pretty much no reason to get it anymore.

Im pretty sure Relic can put everything we ever wanted in the game from specific chaos factions like nurgle or extend army sizes the works. Why that don't happen because its a marketing ploy, why give players everything in 1 go when you can make multiple expansions of the same game while including extra units and races that have already been done and thought of since day 1.

I won;t be surprised if the next expansion is Imperial guard followed by a double feature of Tau and Necrons in the expansion after that. Relic is becoming greedy like EA. Save up and wait for the steam discount session~

Proof of what they are doing is milking everyone dry is look up FOK Mod. The Mod made dark Crusade a much more believable game and amount of work in there is crazy/. And it was not even done by a studio~ Point is, DOW2 will only feel like  a real DOW game once they have released all the planned expansion they have been secretly holding back. By the time that happens, DOW3 would be 1 year from realese and the cycle continues again.
*
DoW2 will never feel like a real warhammer game like FoK,DoWPro or those full race mods without the community modding the hell out of it.DoW1 community have done an amazing job in modding the game,at the same time, makes you felt the game is more fluffy and balanced.

FoK is awesome in every single way.

I am really disapointed in the expansion, if what we are seeing is true, might aswell wait for steam to give us a nice discount later. The chart for the units looks so messy, why is there a Plague Lord and a Khorne Juggenaut in the same time? If they were putting the Plaguebeast in then it would have made sense. Plague bearers would look nice too.

Though i was not too happy with DOW2 to begin with, this is another lowball by Relic. Give us a F**&king break!! Increse all squad sizes by 4 atleast, let us have the enjoyment of actually experiancing a bigger battle. Where is the Defiler? why are we getting a fat B***tard as our deamon? A Keeper of Secrets would be nice.
*
CR features Black Legion as the bad guy of the expansion.Black Legions are known to be Undivided, rather than being devoted to one god.Thats why they get Nurgle and Khrone stuff together. It's the same as FoK's Chaos when you choose Undivided.

With the current scale of battle,i doubt we'll ever seen a Defiler as it's actually a very large walker.

Great Unclean One is Nurgle's Greater Demon.Same as Bloodthrister to Khrone and Keeper of Secrets for Slaneeshi.

No f***ing idea why they even included a damn Avatar and Great Unclean One in the first place.

Yar, I always felt these two were quite out of scope for the scale of it, dreadnought being the "max" in my opinion.

Kinda like how a Land Raider or a Baneblade would do....
*
I think Land Raider would still at least fit the scale of battle.

Baneblade,Greater Demons and Avatar are all out.

Chaos Multiplayer Units – Early Game

QUOTE
You’ve had a look at the Librarian, Wraithguard, Weirdboy, Tyrant Guard and Genestealer brood. They are powerful new units bolstering the ranks of the armies in Dawn of War II. Chaos will also be fighting for control of Aurelia, when the Chaos Rising expansion launches in March, and today we’ll begin a featured series that takes a closer look at the units that have succumbed to the Dark gods of Chaos.

When Chaos players choose their hero before the start of a multiplayer match, they will also be choosing which of three Chaos gods that they will follow. This will effect things like the benefits that you get from your shrines or worshipping Heretics.

Chaos Heretics

user posted image

Although they are lightly armed, Heretics are incredibly useful unit for the Chaos player. These melee units have a number of key abilities that will support your main force. Shrines and worshipping Heretics are a mainstay for Chaos players and can often be found near parts of the map that are highly contentious.

Availability: Tier 1

Abilities:
Doom Blast – Make a Heretic explode with chaos energy, damaging nearby enemies.

Worship – This ability is toggled on and off. It sends the Heretics into an unholy veneration of a Dark God, immobilizing the squad but granting nearby Chaos allies benefits such as increased hitpoint regeneration or infiltrating them so they are not visible to the enemy. The exact benefits are determined by the hero that you have chosen.

Chaos Shrine – Construct a shrine to one of the Dark Gods. Shrines can damage enemies, heal your units, infiltrate nearby units, or summon units from the Warp to fight for you. Each of the three gods provides different benefits through the shrine and these are enhanced by ordering your Heretic squad to worship at the shrine. Requires Tier 2.

Upgrades:
Aspiring Champion – An Aspiring Champion is added as a leader to the squad. The Champion increases the durability of the squad, and detects infiltrated units.

Grenade Launchers – Equips four squad members with grenade launchers that are effective against groups of enemies and enemies in buildings. Replaces the Doom Blast ability with Grenade Barrage.

Chaos Space Marines

user posted image

The backbone of the army, Chaos Space Marines are tactically adaptable infantry that can be equipped with multiple weapon upgrades. Their versatility is enhanced by their ability to absorb a great deal of damage.

Availability: Tier 1

Upgrades:
Eternal War – Permanently increases the melee and ranged damage of the squad.

Mark of Khorne – Dedicating your Chaos Space Marines to the god Khorne changes the squad’s weaponry to mighty chainaxes and plasma pistols, which are effective against all targets. Requires Tier 2.

Mark of Tzeentch – Dedicating your Chaos Space Marines to the god Tzeentch allows them to wield bolters equipped with Inferno Bolts, which are effective against heavy armor and vehicles. Requires Tier 2.

Aspiring Champion – An Aspiring Champion is added as a leader to the squad. The Champion increases the durability of the squad, and detects infiltrated units. Requires Tier 2.

Chaos Havocs

user posted image

Havocs are the heavy weapons teams for the forces of Chaos and come equipped with a Heavy Bolter that is capable of slaughtering and suppressing infantry. They are best used to kill at long range and can lay waste to vehicles or infantry, depending on their loadout.

Availability: Tier 1

Upgrades:
Mark of Tzeentch – Dedicate your Havocs to Tzeentch and gain powerful lascannons, effective against vehicles. Requires Tier 2.

Mark of Khorne – Dedicate your Havocs to Khorne to wield autocannons. This upgrade also increases their rate of fire with each kill. Requires Tier 2.

What was speculated turns to be be true: Chaos only have 3 T1 units, except they missed the bit about their versatility.

Chaos looks promising to me.

deimos,DoW2 is using similar system to CoH with it's expansion.

DoW2 will be updated with new contents when CR release so that DoW2 owners can play with people who own CR and both games.

Except when you dont have CR,you dont get to play Chaos and the new campaign.

Besides, there is a new Free for All mode in CR. It's about time.

There are tonnes of new stuff existing units Melta Gun for Techmarine.Or brand new ones like Plague Champion heals your ally and damage enemies when he dies. There is even a FFA mode now.

Chaos looks pretty interesting to play with the worship mechanism. Seems like the leaked army list is true after all.

And trained psykers don't get corrupted, they just kick asses  wink.gif

Seems pricing is gonna be around 30usd from what I can see on the web, that seems "normal" for xpac nowadays.
Think I will wait a lil to hear some reviews but it I hear some good stuff for the single player I think I will get it quickly.

The Chaos Lord has the genetic advantages of a Space Marine and the blessings of the Dark Gods, making him incredibly powerful. The Chaos Lord is one of three heroes that you can choose when playing as Chaos in Chaos Rising. Here is a closer look at the gear and abilities this warrior has.

user posted image

The Chaos Lord hero is a melee specialist that uses brute force and health draining attacks to crush enemies. By choosing the Chaos Lord, you gain the blessings of the Blood God, Khorne, granting you Bloodletters that spawn at the shrines constructed by your Heretics. These daemons will remain for as long as they have Energy, which drains over time, after which they vanish back into the Warp. If you command Heretics to worship at your shrine, Bloodletters will spawn more frequently.

Gear & Abilities

Kill the Weak! is the Chaos Lord’s innate ability and allows him to strike out at all nearby enemies, draining their life to restore his own.

Tier 1
Combi-Flamer – A bolter with an underslung flamer. This weapon grants the Immolate ability which ignites an area in flames, dealing damage over time.

Harness of Rage – Armor that grants energy with every strike the Chaos Lord lands in close-combat.

Dark Halo – Accessory that allows the unit to raise a shield of unholy energy that causes damage to reduce your Energy instead of your health.

Tier 2
Blood Maul – A huge two-handed weapon that deals heavy damage to infantry units and grants the Sweeping Doom ability, which knocks back all enemies surrounding the Chaos Lord.

Armor of the Inferno – Increases the health and health regeneration of the Chaos Lord, and grants the Let the Galaxy Burn! ability which fires orbs of empyreal flame at the target. They detonate on impact and leave smoldering residue that continues to burn and cause damage over time.

Daemonic Visage – Accessory that causes all nearby enemies to lose combat power whenever the Chaos Lord kills an enemy.

Tier 3
Lightning Claws – Paired claws capable of heavily damaging all targets and also grants the Destructive Strike ability, a channeled strike that deals massive damage to nearby units.

Mantle of Hate – Foul armor that increases the Chaos Lord’s health and health regeneration. It also grants the Drain Life ability during which the Chaos Lord grips an enemy with invisible force, draining life from them to replenish the Chaos Lord’s health.

Icon of Khorne - Grants the Chaos Lord health for every melee attack made against an enemy.

Global Abilities

Malignant Blindness – Temporarily reduce all enemy units’ sight range to almost nil.

Bloodlust – For a period of time, your infantry will increase the damage of nearby allies whenever they attack in melee.

Blood Sacrifice – Sacrifice a friendly infantry unit to spawn a squad of Bloodletters. These daemons will remain so long as they have Energy, which drains over time.

Empyreal Abyss – Creates a devastating warp rift that deals heavy damage to units in an area. Unholy chains will pull nearby infantry into its area of effect.
