guys,im planning to get this screen since im able to get it cheap from a friend..thing is,this model is not sold in malaysia and its so hard to find details on the net..translated one of the texts online and it says
QUOTE
Wonderful show why the fine quality 1080 high-definition LCD panel technology with large-screen high-resolution LCD panels require precise and accurate image processing technology. 与WXGA 高清晰度图像分辨率(1366×768)相比,高清1080 液晶面板的图像分辨率(1920×1080)需要约两倍的处理能力。 With WXGA high-definition image resolution (1366 × 768) compared to HD 1080 LCD panel image resolution (1920 × 1080) takes about twice as much processing power. BRAVIA ENGINE PRO 图像处理引擎技术加上高清1080 液晶面板技术,将细腻画质精彩呈现,继而体现出索尼的整个高清产品系列中的优势。 BRAVIA ENGINE PRO image processing engine technology combined with a 1080 high-definition LCD panel technology, fine quality wonderful presentation, and then reflect the entire Sony HD product line advantage.

this screen claims to be Full HD..my question is,is it really 1920 X 1080?what does WXGA mean?and i dont get any info at all about the dynamic contrasts etc.anyone can give me a hand?is this screen worth it for a price of 2k+?

If it's full HD, then it HAS to be 1920 x 1080 or else it wont qualify for the "FULL HD" title.

Yes, this model is a Full HD model. Supposedly a replacement for the V550 series. Features includes Bravia Engine 3 and Intelligent Picture PLUS

No news about the pricing and launch date yet.

For RM2k+, Full HD 40 inch is definitely worth it. The previous V550 40" used to costs twice the price.

ok..then ill try to confirm my purchase tomorrow..very limited stock at the moment..

im abit confused about the name of these BRAVIA series..this particular model is of the BX series or U series??ive tried to google the whole night and honestly it has been very disappointing..since some people mentioned that certain series are not as good as others..

and this model is a 'future' upcoming model?

btw,if u go to this page,

theres only one input for astro, external video devices?isnt that a bit of a hassle?

Sony new lineup is now using new naming scheme. No mre S, T, V and W. Dunno about Z and X.
Yes, this is an upcoming model.

However, I dont think the BX400 we get locally comes only with two HDMI ports. One thing for sure, the BX400 in that Sony site isn't the same BX400 we will get eventually at Malaysia since our BX400 comes with Bravia Engine 3, not BE2.

Even the entry level model currently on promotion, the 32EX300 is using BE3.

Why? The model is already available elsewhere no? Else how does the infor came about?
Even Sony M'sia is not going to market this model, us as consumer if interested still can get it from overseas. So what not to bring to discussion? rclxub.gif

unless if it is stolen or robbed units, else if it is legal, why not?
The BX/EX series will eventually reach our side (since BX is already here) but the real question is the NX, HX and LX will be here or not.

and lastly, dont look at overseas model review/specification as it is often that our local set came with different configuration and probably naming as well.

for info, BX production in malaysia. a very new model. not release yet, not sure how this info leak out. not sure wxga is wat...but only 40" in full HD.

it uses BE3 since its a new model. n malaysia model is ready n wait for market release. but actually this shud not be sell anywhere else yet.

sad to say no motionflow...i think so, cos no 200Hz. I think i got the spec somewhere. tomorow will post info if get the spec.

as the price says, its low-mid end...unlike V series or W series. both was my prefered model. Really like both V and W series.

better took the 40" one...got HD

WXGA = Widescreen eXtended Graphics Array, is generally understood to refer to a resolution of 1366×768, with an aspect ratio of 16:9.

I only from Sony website, their said it is FullHD but noting describe it is WXGA. Try to get information from official website not other third parties website. Also take note that not all countries will offer same specification with other countries.

This BX400 is the replacement for 40S550

The replacement for 40V550 is EX400 (available in 40', 46' and 32')

So far, the only noticeable difference between EX4 and BX4 is the number of HDMI ports. BX4 has 2 and EX4 has 4. I'll try to grab more details later.

sorry for my sucky 3 year old PDA camera. >.<

IIRC, they market BX as "Enjoyment"

Only 40" BX is Full HD. 32 and 22 is HD ready.

I don't know how to differentiate. I walk in go see see, all I see is oni clearance models. Ask one of the staff about it and all I got for reply is "blink blink" >.<

simple and yet elegant design

The true model that clearly shows out the design is the NX series. It looks almost like watching TV on a piece of glass.

anyone know what's the response time and refresh rate for this Sony Bravia KLV-40BX400, planned to use it mainly for PC Gaming, FPS genre, hope it's quite fast and can provide smooth movement required to aim precisely at instant. Can't find any website mentioning these important infos at tech spec.

also, does the lcd suffer from color banding ? I read 10 bit LCD panel should get rid of color banding, which is good, hope it's stuffed with 10 bit oledi.

-edit-
one more thing, how Bravia Engine 3 handles SD input such as Nintendo Wii ? can it eliminate jaggies well, or am I expecting too much lol biggrin.gif

so how about response time and refresh rate, that's the most important things I'd like to know before getting an LCD TV for PC gaming.
Will my VGA Card recognize the refresh rate of the LCD TV if it has 100hz+ capability , because most monitors have 60hz oni

10bit panels are quite a luxury. definately not in the budget range. the BX series are sony's entry level model

does anyone here using LCD TV for PC gaming ? what brand/type ?

thing is, if u want purely for gaming, stick to lcd monitors. a portion of the money that goes into lcd tvs are in the TV related features, which if u just play games, then wont be useful

but of course, if u want the large size, then u got no choice smile.gif

personally, i rather sacrifice abit of frame rate for the large screen. makes gaming much mor enjoyable =D

@daijoubu : heh yea, agree with that, that's why I thought about buying an LCD TV, for both PC Display / TV related usages such as watching tv broadcasts/consoles, all in one big screen. The only problem is picking which one lol, I'll just read here and there to gather more info for inputs ^^

@aztechx : you can try comparing tv sizes here http://www.tvcalculator.com/ , scaled down of course, but you'll get the picture about how much bigger you'll get if you decide to finally upgrade.

yea ive seen the website..looks alot bigger there but like i mentioned,at the shop, and even on the production line,i dnot know why the screen looks a bit small..maybe its an optical illusion or something.. tongue.gif

ive confirmed my KLV-40bx400 purchase..just wondering how god ti would be since its an entry level model..

just curious, for the high end models, theres this feature called motionflow 100Hz/200Hz/240Hz..those represents the refresh rate of the screen right?how about the entry level models without motion flow?whats the refresh rate like?
*
50Hz

QUOTE(Zeld4 @ Feb 1 2010, 06:30 PM)
anyone know what's the response time and refresh rate for this Sony Bravia KLV-40BX400, planned to use it mainly for PC Gaming, FPS genre, hope it's quite fast and can provide smooth movement required to aim precisely at instant.

*
response time: do not know.
refresh rate: 50Hz

If you're hoping for fast and smooth movement, then you'll be dissapointed. Generally, computer monitors has better response time and refresh rate than TVs.

During BE2 days, there are basically two types of Bravia Engine, one is the Bravi Engine 2 and another is Bravia Engine 2 Pro. The advantage of BE2 Pro is that it comes with HD upscale capability which automatically upscales DVD video into near Full HD quality. This is the reason why a mere 40 inch X450 costs RM 13,000 back then. This "Pro" edition doesn't make a debut yet in any of the BE3 line up so far. sad.gif

60hz for the 40bx400?is it good enough to watch decent movies?definitely better then CRTs right?i dont know why i keep thinking the 40" LCD is almost as big as a 29" CRT..havent seen them side by side though..the website given that day gave me a rough number but everytmie i look at a 40" at the shop im like

"its not that big oso.." tongue.gif
*
That's because your eyes compare it with screen height.

Screen size for 29" 4:3 TV roughly:
23.1" (W) x 17.4" (H)

For 32" 16:9 TV:
27.8" (W) x 15.6" (H)

37" 16:9 TV:
32.2" (W) x 18.1" (H)

40"16:9 TV:
34.8" (W) x 19.5" (H)

So, 29" CRT actually comparable to 37" LCD (only a few model have this size)

Not much manufacturers has 37" now due to the cost to produce it is about the same as producing a 40" unit.

how much is KLV-40BX400 in Malaysia ? cheapest I can find here in Indonesia is around RM2740.

I've been comparing prices posted here in this forum for some brand/type to the same ones at my local online shops, it seems the prices here in Indo are quite high cry.gif

I think top model is V or W, BX is basic/entry level and categorized differently from S series on Sony website.

weird, it's cheaper here in ID for that model, even at Sony official website's MSRP, it's around RM2943 compared to Sony MY @ RM3299, but can get as low as RM2740 in street price. Too bad it doesn't apply to most 40-42 inchers with other brands sad.gif

please do post a review when you get your TV later, aztechx, wish u all the best for it happy.gif , btw are you going to use it for PC too ?

Best Denki Mid valley quoted RM2999 for this TV, good price?

Added on February 5, 2010, 3:16 pmBtw, i noticed Sony's BX series, being 50Hz, compared to its EX's 100Hz, the motion lag is not so much difference (playing same video source).

I saw Samsung's 50Hz (B530 model), compared to its own 100Hz LED series, the motion lag difference is huge...Personally, i couldn't accept Samsung's 50Hz.

Can anybody explain why i feel SONY's 50Hz is better? Did they do some enhancement? Because of BE3 engine?

One thing is, when playing the credit scroll, SONY's 50Hz is really laggy la, compared to it's 100Hz brother.

finally tested my tv today after a very very long wait..was too busy to try it earlier..

well, since i havent subscribed to astro byond..my first reaction was..WTF?why so blur!but after awhile i got used to it and at a certain distance,it didnt look too bad..standard definition is 480 right compared to 1080 of a HD?hope to get the byond unit soon..

i think the tv is not as fun to watch without the motionflow thing..the current refresh rate is around 50Hz only right?but overall im happy with the performance..good sound for such tiny speakers..any other users of this model?

Motionflow is only useful for certain movies / channels.

Anyway, BRAVIA update:

BX > EX > NX > HX > FX

the salesman of SenQ said that they are clearing the stock of BX400.. so i guess there should have new model coming in or what..

I actually think of getting one.. but the Motion is so slow.. as is either 50 or 60 right? and then the response rate is unknown.. so i feel undecided about it..

then i saw a samsung Plasma TV caught my eyes.. it is the model is PS42C451 if not mistaken.. the Refresh rate is 100Mghz and the response rate is 600Mghz.. 42 inch somemore.. But the problem is.. the model is HD ready only.. the price is 2213 only.. even cheaper compare to the Sony model..

Actually i make up my mind to choose TV at the range of 46inch to 50 inch already.. so if i choose EX500 the only size i can choose is the 55inch.. it is suitable for my living room at the distance of 10 to 13 feet.. however, in future i plan to buy a 3D LED TV, to replace the TV in living room.. then the old one move up to my another living room which is smaller ( Upstairs) . but if the size is 55 i do think is a big bigger for my 1 floor living room..

The EX500 got 100HZ motion.. but too bad.. they don't have 50inch le... how le.. haiz~~

I'm using an old Sharp 37" LCD (the model with speakers at the side) and thinking of upgrading to a full HD 40 or 42" LCD...
Very satisfied with the sound produce from my Sharp and I have no need to add any external speakers.
I wonder if the Sony has adequate speakers which can match my Sharp? Really interested with this package with the bluray player included :-)
Any ideas?

Once you have a proper HT, you'll realized how all LCD speakers sucks...

My advice:going from 37->40, no difference. Go bigger...50". and save some money on a dedicated HT, or at least HTIB.

Since we're getting to speakers,do u have any good HT to recommend? My budget is RM600 or less, cheaper the better, but I can't probably get a very good one with this budget right?

And what's HTIB?Sorry I'm new to this stuff blush.gif

HTIB=HanTu In a Box....oopss...I meant Home Theather In a Box. tongue.gif
Something like this...it's a DVD player, AVR, speakers, sub, all in one.
http://www.panasonic.com.my/web/pid/7999/Spec

Budget RM600...cannot get HT...even the cheapest AVR cost RM1K+, not including speakers and subs. Even HTIB a bit susah. I would recommend u to budget RM1K for a HTIB. And make sure it has at least one optical/coaxial input for your media players to decode Dolby Digital/DTS.

Oh,that's HTIB,I have always seen it,but didn't know that it's called HTIB blush.gif

But I saw the cheapest HTIB is RM600++ by Philips,is that good?

And the link that u gave, that's exactly what I need,a new DVD player that can upscale to 1080p and 5.1 speakers drool.gif But I heard Panasonic sound isn't very good?

you can buy RM600++...but you better check out the sound quality and features...some don't even have optical/coaxial input...very important, coz u'll need this for ur media player or BD player to input the sound. Otherwise no surround sound for you, the only surround sound will be using the built in DVD player...and we don't want DVD anymore...Forget about upscaling. It's rubbish. Just buy WDTV Live and watch high quality 1080p HD files.

WDTV Live=RM 299. DVD player use for decoration. Got nice blinking lights. Connect optical out from WDTV Live to your HTIB optical in. Now you get Dolby Digital/DTS 5.1 sound. rclxms.gif

Yep, wise choice, if budget concerns. Get the WDTV Live first, then upgrade sound later. Once you watched HD, you never wanna see SD stuff.

I just signed the CC slip a few minutes ago. Went to the shops looking for the best pricing for with Panasonic Plasma P42X28 (already confirmed in my heart already, just want to get the best price). Got talked into changing my mind to Toshiba AV700 cause it's Full HD. Went to another shop to compare the Toshiba pricing and ended up with Sony 40BX400!

Price, RM2,499 - RM200 cash back.
FOC Blueray player. If don't want, rebate another RM300.

Finally after much haggling, decided and confirmed taking the 40BX400 with the Blueray player (RM2,299) but managed to sqeeze a free wall mounting bracket from them. They gave me another S Video cable, which IMHO, is worthless to me.

I calculated that I'm only paying RM1,850 for the LCD TV itself. The P42X28 is RM1,680 so I'm actually paying extra RM170 to get a Full HD (doesn't really bother weather it's a plasma or LCD).

QUOTE(Dukey @ Dec 25 2010, 06:29 PM)

*
Nice thanks for sharing your experience. How did you calculate paying RM1850? RM2299 - RM200 rebate = RM2099? How much does the bracket cost if they don't give it FOC?

Mind to PM me any contact number or location please? Planning to get this set in these few days thanks a lot!

I'm from Seremban and the shop is located in Seremban.
The Desa Kepong shop's offer is really good but like I said, I'm from Seremban.... cry.gif

I actually opted to take the blueray instead cause they are only prepared to offer me RM300 for it. They'll probably sell it off at RM999 and I don't want them to "earn" the extra from me. tongue.gif

Please stop spreading this price as the other member does too cause the seller calculate RM1650 after deducting rebate and his free gift main problem is he have got one unit only and it's currently reserved so no point at all.

Why can't I mention when I saw some shop selling that price (RM1,650/-) 1-2 weeks ago in lowyat forum. This is not your grandfather's forum.

Of course I wasn't sure. Why else would I phrase my question like this if I was sure :-

"Wasn't someone/shop in Lowyat here selling this model for RM1,650/- ."

If just asking this question like above is disallowed by you, then I have every right to respond like with like. If you act like a Big Boss, I will respond the same. If you respond nicely, I will also be nice biggrin.gif

Anyway this is the person/shop selling at RM1,650/- previously. He is no longer selling the model (probably because already cleared his stock). :-

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1163512

If you scroll to post no. 653 where some replied the Original Advert with the "Quotes" you will see that the Offer for the KLV-40BX400 as follows :-

"Sony LCD KLV-40BX400 RM 1650.00 Cash and Carry....Until 31 December 2010

Contact Me Or Text Me: 017-xxxxxxx Kevin
"

So I hope this will put the issue to rest smile.gif

You get so so if you watching only the TV channel (not Astro B.yond HD channel) or normal DVD playback. (Unless your DVD is capable of upscalling). Want to see the true of LCD TV, BD or HD TV channel is required.

It do help a lot, at least it make your DVD near HD quality..... if the person never seen BD before, he/she may th the TV is playing the BD.

But the upscaling is suffer from edge issue and color slightly banding.

I do comparing before with my BD & DVD version of Toy Story Ultimate Collection.

Upscaling is the player (either BD player or DVD player that support) and need to use HDMI connection.

Need help. Im thinking of this model too. Is there any significant difference between this model and KLV-40EX400? IMO they seem similar but the price for KLV40BX400 seems a lot cheaper. I wonder why
*
Because the BX series is a lower model compared to EX
