guys,im planning to get this screen since im able to get it cheap from a friend..thing is,this model is not sold in malaysia and its so hard to find details on the net..translated one of the texts online and it says
QUOTE
Wonderful show why the fine quality 1080 high-definition LCD panel technology with large-screen high-resolution LCD panels require precise and accurate image processing technology. 与WXGA 高清晰度图像分辨率(1366×768)相比,高清1080 液晶面板的图像分辨率(1920×1080)需要约两倍的处理能力。 With WXGA high-definition image resolution (1366 × 768) compared to HD 1080 LCD panel image resolution (1920 × 1080) takes about twice as much processing power. BRAVIA ENGINE PRO 图像处理引擎技术加上高清1080 液晶面板技术,将细腻画质精彩呈现,继而体现出索尼的整个高清产品系列中的优势。 BRAVIA ENGINE PRO image processing engine technology combined with a 1080 high-definition LCD panel technology, fine quality wonderful presentation, and then reflect the entire Sony HD product line advantage.

this screen claims to be Full HD..my question is,is it really 1920 X 1080?what does WXGA mean?and i dont get any info at all about the dynamic contrasts etc.anyone can give me a hand?is this screen worth it for a price of 2k+?

If it's full HD, then it HAS to be 1920 x 1080 or else it wont qualify for the "FULL HD" title.

Yes, this model is a Full HD model. Supposedly a replacement for the V550 series. Features includes Bravia Engine 3 and Intelligent Picture PLUS

No news about the pricing and launch date yet.

For RM2k+, Full HD 40 inch is definitely worth it. The previous V550 40" used to costs twice the price.

ok..then ill try to confirm my purchase tomorrow..very limited stock at the moment..

im abit confused about the name of these BRAVIA series..this particular model is of the BX series or U series??ive tried to google the whole night and honestly it has been very disappointing..since some people mentioned that certain series are not as good as others..

and this model is a 'future' upcoming model?

btw,if u go to this page,

theres only one input for astro, external video devices?isnt that a bit of a hassle?

Sony new lineup is now using new naming scheme. No mre S, T, V and W. Dunno about Z and X.
Yes, this is an upcoming model.

However, I dont think the BX400 we get locally comes only with two HDMI ports. One thing for sure, the BX400 in that Sony site isn't the same BX400 we will get eventually at Malaysia since our BX400 comes with Bravia Engine 3, not BE2.

Even the entry level model currently on promotion, the 32EX300 is using BE3.

so the bx400 will eventually reach our shores?this would be a low-mid end model right considering the price?for now im not even sure if the unit i get would be a local model or an import model..the unit is confirmed to be Bravia Engine 3..any advice on what i can check on the screens?i mean im able to get close to it but not touch it yet.. tongue.gif

so the full hd isnt actually a 1920 X 1080 resolution but a scaled up version of a 1366×768?

FullHD is 1920 x 1080 at 16:9 aspect ratio, WXGA is 1366×768 at 16:9 aspect ratio.  sweat.gif

then why do they market it with the Full HD tag?sorry,a bit new to buying LCDs.. tongue.gif

glad to know it is Full HD..im currently using a 29" CRT and was wondering if the 40" LCD would be just slightly bigger due to the nature of a wide screen..

will be going to mid valley to check out the sony outlet there later tonite..hopefully can get some info from there..

just curious, for the high end models, theres this feature called motionflow 100Hz/200Hz/240Hz..those represents the refresh rate of the screen right?how about the entry level models without motion flow?whats the refresh rate like?

@daijoubu : heh yea, agree with that, that's why I thought about buying an LCD TV, for both PC Display / TV related usages such as watching tv broadcasts/consoles, all in one big screen. The only problem is picking which one lol, I'll just read here and there to gather more info for inputs ^^

@aztechx : you can try comparing tv sizes here http://www.tvcalculator.com/ , scaled down of course, but you'll get the picture about how much bigger you'll get if you decide to finally upgrade.

yea ive seen the website..looks alot bigger there but like i mentioned,at the shop, and even on the production line,i dnot know why the screen looks a bit small..maybe its an optical illusion or something.. tongue.gif

ive confirmed my KLV-40bx400 purchase..just wondering how god ti would be since its an entry level model..

how much is KLV-40BX400 in Malaysia ? cheapest I can find here in Indonesia is around RM2740.

I've been comparing prices posted here in this forum for some brand/type to the same ones at my local online shops, it seems the prices here in Indo are quite high  cry.gif

the retail price here is RM3,299..some shops sell it between the range of 3100-3299..havent seen any below 3k yet..getting my tv on monday..cant wait~~! rclxms.gif

hope i wont be disappointed.. tongue.gif

weird, it's cheaper here in ID for that model, even at Sony official website's MSRP, it's around RM2943 compared to Sony MY @ RM3299, but can get as low as RM2740 in street price. Too bad it doesn't apply to most 40-42 inchers with other brands sad.gif

please do post a review when you get your TV later, aztechx, wish u all the best for it happy.gif , btw are you going to use it for PC too ?
*
haha..be warned that im not 'gifted' with super good eyes and ears to see the little details and differentiate it with another..heck,i couldnt tell the difference between an rm200 speakers and an rm1k one when asked to do so.. tongue.gif

and yup,ill be using it for pc as well..primary use will be as the living room tv but i guess no one can ever resist playing games on a 40" screen right? drool.gif

many moar coming =D
but not all be in malaysia sad.gif

ive seen some series not sold in malaysia..most of them are 'digital' tvs so u cant use it to receive analog signals here or something like that..even some with the edge LED thing..omg,i know so little about screens.. shocking.gif

finally tested my tv today after a very very long wait..was too busy to try it earlier..

well, since i havent subscribed to astro byond..my first reaction was..WTF?why so blur!but after awhile i got used to it and at a certain distance,it didnt look too bad..standard definition is 480 right compared to 1080 of a HD?hope to get the byond unit soon..

i think the tv is not as fun to watch without the motionflow thing..the current refresh rate is around 50Hz only right?but overall im happy with the performance..good sound for such tiny speakers..any other users of this model?
