Yeah I would. I have spent more than 10k on my travels so far but the value cannot be measured in terms of money. Some of the places were a real eye opener and learning experience.
But I dont see how some people here could spend 10k per trio. I was in Japan for a week and spent probably 3-4k all in. Same thing with Europe for 2 weeks, wayyy under 10k. I did get my direct flight with MAS to London for 1.8k and return from Frankfurt for 2.3 tongue.gif

It depends on one's spending habits. For example, some of us do not mind staying in hostels while some cannot fathom the idea of sharing washrooms with strangers. Some of us do not mind doing a DIY trip while some prefer the comfort of a tour group. And so on.

My cousin and hubby spent RM14k for a trip to Taipei last year. They went with a ground tour and bought lotsa stuffs. I was like shocking.gif . Taipei would be a RM2k trip for me. LOL.

I like planning ahead, gives me something to look forward to. Hahaha... rclxms.gif
But I have burnt a few tickets too, due to natural disasters, medical emergencies and whatnot.
If my friends FFK me, I wouldn't mind going alone, so planning ahead has not been a problem for me. tongue.gif

it is simple. Depends on how much money you have and how much you can earn in a month.

If someone earns only 5k a month or less, and saving not much, better go for cheaper holiday. Start with cheaper options first.

Then later you got savings more than RM1m, and earning above 20k a month, no problem sepending for holiday- alot of people spending 30-40 k a year just for that, sap sap water to them, but how are we to compare???

No point having not much money yet mati mati wanna follow people spend so much on holidays.

Just replace your "trip" with "buying a car." Some people are satisfied with Proton, others buy Beemers or Mercs because they want more "luxury" (etc) and can afford it.

experience vs. materials?

I've long chosen experience.
So 10k is worth it.

Go backpacking to stretch that 10k value and it'll take you to more cities on a single trip rather than a single city vacation.

Sometimes its not the money matter, but the experience and memory count. biggrin.gif

Lol, trust me, travelling on TV and real life is different.

As different as watching porn and actual sex.

I did that last year spending about RM12K traveling around South Island, New Zealand for 12 days. Did a lot of extreme stuff like skydiving, bungy jumping, Nevis swing. Also spent some time doing sight seeing, chilling around from town to town. I did that with 7 buddies and 1 of my buddy's mom. It's so far the best trip of my life. I'm only a mid income earner but no regrets at all with the experience that I gained throughout that 12 days. Just got to do it with the right travel buddies smile.gif

My husband & I will be visiting NZ for 17 days next month. Flight tkt KUL/AUC/KUL cost us RM7500 already. Domestic ticket in NZ cost us RM980. Accommodation around RM2650. We will be staying at backpackers & hostel. We purchase tour to Glacier Explorer, Milford Sound Nature Tour, Te Anau Glowworm Caves & Hobbition movie set. It cost us RM920 per person. Car rental cost us RM2160. This not including money to buy petrol, entrance fees, food, souvenir.

We are so excited just thinking about it. We will depart on 7/3/13. biggrin.gif

My friend told me that she had traveled to Dubai, Venice, Rome, Spain and 2 more countries (I can't remember), as a backpacker, all together around RM8K.

The question here is.. how willing are you to travel on a minimum budget? wink.gif

Do a lot of research & look for promo/bargain. I always plan at least a year ahead before my trip to get a better rates.

Maybe once every few years for places like US, Australia, etc. I love Canada. But the exchange rate kills. In the mid of those years, maybe a local holiday.
